just got back from the store. I stood in front of the peanut butter shelves for several minutes contemplating my choices;

natural, organic, chunky, creamy

almond, soynut, tahini (sesame seed) cashew, (Yes Mike, cashew in both chunky and creamy).

What did I settle on? Call me crazy, cheap, a victim of agressive merchandising but the only item on sale was of all things -- Sun nut butter, made with Sunflower seeds.

Maybe Ron can do a peanut butter section under "general discussion."

Happy 100, "Ode, peanut butter!"

I noticed the discussion spilled over into the "ode to Athena" thread to. Count those and we went over 100 awhile ago.

It is amazing that one of the longest threads on here is about peanut butter, not running, biking, or swimming, not drugs, booze, or sex. Just peanut butter.

That in and of itself is worth a laugh.

and saw one from [email protected].....

the subject line.... "ode... peanut butter: Update notification"

OH NOOOOOOOO

SOMEONE'S RE-STARTED THE ODE TO PEANUT BUTTER THREAD!!!!

I broke out in a sweat thinking back to the wasted seconds, minutes, nay hours spent on that thread, reading post after ode after post....visions of peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter, nutter butter.....

  • ...and now it may start once again?

  • sigh

    I'm hungry....time for a pb sandwich....

Just had to add this one in the Ode to PB thread.

Found a glorious new icecream called MONKEY MOOS---rich banana flavored (and coloured) icecream with a thick fudge swirl, chuck full of little mini, you guessed it, peanut butter cups......MMMMMM.....It's the only treat I go off the training food plan for. Hey, it's got protein in it right!!!

    Rock on Peanut Butter!!!!

I stood in the kitchen on a Monday night
Needing to eat something good and fine
    Stomach growling for some food
    Much better than drinking wine

I opened the cupboards and looked in
    Hoping for calorific revelation
I saw to the side, the Peanut butter
    That nearly ended my deliberation

But I could not decide which to have
    Crunchy, smooth, bread or toast
Which one to select and devour?
Eat both? And, on the ode, boast?

As my mind sought a quick answer
And my Stomach shouted COME ON!!
My indecision got the better of me
and I ended up with..... Salmon.

    The Peanut butter stayed untouched
But tonight when my stomach feels squelchy
I’ll return to the cupboard for my PB
If it hasn’t been eaten by Welshy.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Back when I started my whole physical rehab thing, I cut out PB entirely. Ate almost no fat. Then voila!! I saw this poster in our university weight room about how peak performance can suffer if you don't get enough fat in your diet. My immediate thought was  EXTRA CRUNCHY PEANUT BUTTER!!!  For my performance of course.

Now two or three times a week I include an EXTRA CRUNCHY PB "samich" in my pre workout routine. (2 hrs prior)

Just finished a half of the samich.  - need to go swim today. It's 70 degrees now as I look out my window. Breeze coming in, sunny and beautiful day. I DON'T WANT TO WORK! I should be retired now anyway - two browser windows open - the one where I am working on our distance learning web site - and this one.

Goofing off! Practicing for retirement! Need more time for training!

Heck with it - lock my office door, feet up and gazing out the window - slowly crunching away on my other half of that EXTRA CRUNCHY PB samich

I thought my day was complete because I already had a brick workout done.

The peanut butter thread is back.
    Mike is waxing poetic
    Lara is trashing her keyboard
Malvey is itching to retire and become a worldclass age grouper

ahhhh.... peanut butter, NOW my day is complete

I saw this posting and my shoulders sagged.  My fist clenched.  I was dizzy for a moment.  My eyes closed and my head rocked from side to side.  A shiver that started in my toes coursed through my body, up to my head, finally landing with a dinner-time bell clang right in the pit of my stomach.

Peanut butter is on the roof of Beginnertriathlete's mouth and will not be shaken lose, no matter how cold the milk, or penetrating the tongue ...cracker anyone?

I will be indulging in a colossal PB and pickle for lunch.  God help me I can feel the rush now....
