Thanks Kathleen.  We are still in shock but seeing those two heart beats on the ultrasound was just awesome!

Thanks Chris.  That would make me one proud Poppa!  Plus the only way my slow butt would be at Kona.

Had my first nasty crash this weekend and just found out the front fork is cracked!!! Oh well, at least I still have my road bike to ride while I decide what to do. AND I was 3:24 into a 3:30 ride!!! That sucks! Do you guys cover your scraps/scars/cuts or do you let them breath? I'm supposed to get in the pool tomorrow and I want to get these things to scab over asap.

Sorry to hear that Rob.  I am glad you are ok.  Was the cracked fork the cause or the result of the crash?

Thx Jim. The fork was fine before the crash...I just had my bike in to get some work. Found out yesterday they can replace but WOW they are not cheap. The good part is the bike will be ready by Thursday. Since we both live here we should meet up some weekend for a ride. Hope ur training is going well.

You may want to look in Tegaderm for road rash. I've noticed a difference in areas where I've used it or not.

Jon, thanks for the advice. Never heard of, or used, the product. I'll check it out.

Hey fellow IMAZ peeps! I took the month of May as "offseason" after finishing the Wildflower Long Course and just got back from 16 days in Vietnam and Cambodia on vacation. So, IMAZ training officially starts for me this week! Excited to get started. How is everyone else doing?

I was worried about you (checked your logs) but it seems you went on the trip of a lifetime!

As for me, I went from 0 hours in Feb and am up to 11 hours per week.  I have to say, after 10 hours it gets real hard to manage everything, and I haven't even hit the big weeks yet!  My plan has me topping out somewhere around 18-20 hours per week, and so far my body has been holding up very well and I've been getting some improvements, mainly on the run and swim though (I wish it were).  I wish I could say more for the bike, but my guess is I will take a huge speed leap once my tri bike returns from a warranty part swap!

Sounds like a fantastic trip! That area is just gorgeous.

After a pretty big base period, I'm on to building for my first races of the year - did an Oly a few weeks ago and have another one coming up in 2 weeks and from there I assume I'll start building for my 1/2IM of the year. I've had such a good base this year with the crazy stuff my coach threw at me - soooo much more than my 1st time training for IM AZ - that I feel super excited about this year and how I will do! And I'm VERY glad I planned on a late summer 1/2 instead of doing one earlier - after last time with 3 1/2IMs leading up to AZ, I swore if I did it again I'd hold off on the longer distance stuff till later in the year - mentally I can see it's the right choice for me!

Sounds like a gret trip! As for me, I'm 9 months into my training. Started from nothing and have done a ton of base work. Miles and hours are increasing. This is my first IM and I'm as excited today and I was when I started. Will do a 70.3 sometime before (did my first 70.3 back in 2008) and a OLY about a month and a half out from IMAZ. Hope ur training goes well. Enjoy

Starting to research hotels.  Trying to find something with a nice indoor pool for the kids.

Week 6 of my training program starts tomorrow. Did an oly this morning just for fun. I finished a lot faster than I was expecting, so that was nice.  Next race is a 70.3 in August, then IMAZ.  Will be hitting over 10 hours this week and body is holding up well.

Anyone else excited it's finally not freezing for OWS?

Still freezing for OWS here in CA. Velcromom and I froze our butts off at the local splash & dash Thursday night.

Hi IMAZ folks.  I've visiting from over at the CdA board and had just a couple of quick questions about AZ.  I'm looking at AZ as a possible 2012 race and was wondering:

1. Does the race sell out on-site the weekend of the race or does it make it to online registration?

2. Is it always scheduled for the Sunday before Thanksgiving? The 2012 date is probably published somewhere, but I haven't seen it on the race website or elsewhere.

Thanks!

Brad

1.  It goes to online but it doesn't last very long, maybe less than an hour.  I went on site because online is no guarantee.

2. I believe it always is the week prior, though I don't know if that's set in stone.

Yeah, this past year it sold out in ~20 minutes. I took the chance on online registration and was able to get in about 5-7 minutes after registration opened.

Thank you for the info.  How do you like your Speed Concept? I started riding a seven.two about three weeks ago and I'm loving it.

5 months out.....what's on everyone's calendar?  I'm doing Vineman 70.3 in 5 weeks - did an Oly yesterday.  It's about time to start a real plan, methinks.

Lots of training here. Did an oly a couple of weeks ago and went a lot faster than I was expecting. I'm still not fast compared to most, but was fast for me. HIM in August and the big show in November...
