Hoping to be back at the gym or on the bike by tomorrow. I hate getting sick. Ouch, take it easy coming back. Few days won't take you too far off track. |

Time to answer the following for curious minds: 1) When is your first race this year? 2) Where, Which race and what distance? 2) What is your goal for race? (just finish, warm up race, place in Age Group?) Here's mine 1) April 17th 2) Boca Raton, FL, Florida Atlantic Univiersity Wellness Triathlon, Sprint 3) Warm up for Florida 70.3 in May. Work on transitions and have a good time. Yeah, placing in AG would be nice |

Master 3022![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Amazon's Group - CLOSEDHi all - I got on the bike and worked out this morning - first time since getting sick last week. I ended up just turning last week into a week off and made sure I was 100% before getting at it again. Felt great to workout this morning and the cycling workout went really. |

4 | Subject: EventsHello All, I'm a little different to others as we're in the middle of our season (and my first triathlon season) and apologies as I don't do yards. 1) When is your first race this year? First Race was Raby Bay Sprint 2) Where, Which race and what distance? (400m, 15km, 4km) 2) What is your goal for race? (just finish, warm up race, place in Age Group?) Goal was just to finish, which I did, but as I'm doing a few events in the Gatorade series, my aim is to place in Age Group, currently in 4th overall, podium wold be awesome, however, would have to place better in last 3 races to secure this. Aim is to go up to Olympic Distance for Mooloolaba on 27 March, lots of hard training required, especially as it's an ocean swim, and bike and run courses have hills, hills and more hills. Ouch. This is gonna hurt!! Happy training Kate |

A combination of a new dog, early meetings, a cold, and a rainy day knocked me down to 3 hours total...yikes. Back to it this week! I know the feeling. Valuable lesson I learned along the way though was don't try to make it up in volume. Stick to your plam despite the dropped workouts. All you will do otherwise if overstress the body and get sick again or hurt. |

This week is swim focused - I'm in the pool 6 days this week. 4 down, 2 to go. I smell like a chlorine stick. Edited by mramazon0822 2011-02-10 11:33 AM |

Confident you will, just install hand sanitizer in every room in your house |

Master 3022![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Amazon's Group - CLOSEDSorry for being so quiet lately - So I've been cycling and not much else - just me and my bike/trainer in the basement - THRILLING! This week began my second testing week for the Jorge Winter Cycling Plan. I didn't get to my workout in the morning like I planned but at 9:30 last night my bike and I had a date for a 20' sufferfest. The test begins with a 20' warm-up and then moves into a a 20' time trial all out effort. I averaged 18.3 mph the last time I tested on 1/12/2011. I started out too fast that time (around 20mph) and really struggled at the end. This time, I calculated a 10% improvement in watts for my ride and that put me around a goal pace of 19 mph. I was riding pretty comfy at 19.3 to 19.6 for the first 5 minutes and periodicaly shifted gears to move to a higher cadence and a bit of a break of resistance. The last 7 minutes or so had to the toughest riding I have ever done. (Previously the toughest had been the 3 min time trial I did the same week as the previous 20' time trial.) I held on the best I could and ended up at 18.9 mph for the ride. My HR avg was 183 vs 175 for the previous test. Could be my LT has moved higher or that I had eaten dinner 3 hours prior. Not sure. Tomorrow I have a trainer session and then Sat I will have the 3' sufferfest time trial. I avg'd 21 mph he last time and am shooting for 22 mph this time. Regarding my other training. Definitely running the Dexter-Ann Arbor half marathon on June 5th. I struggled with what training plan to follow. I really wanted to try the Hanson's plan but the volume is too high out the gate. I will look to use the Higdon intermediate again and then hope to have enough volume going into the late summer to utilize the Hanson's plan for the Detroit Half in october. I really want to get under the 8 min per mile pace in my half distance. I still haven't setled on any tri's so I need to look at the calendar and life and figure out what I can realistically do. On other matters, I will be in the Gatlinburg area this summer and am thinking of taking my bike. We are staying out the urban areas way in the country on a rd called Pittman Center Rd. Anyone familar with it and if it is somewhat safe to ride my road bike on? I envision some early morning rides in the hills as a great way to start each day. Master 3022![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Amazon's Group - CLOSEDFinished my 3' max power cycling test this afternoon. Previously my avg speed for the test was 21.2 mph for approx 300 watts. Today I gutted out 22mph avg for 3 min with watts approx 330. I was pretty happy as that was the goal I established for myself. In the 5 weeks that I have been following the jorge cycling plan my critical power has improved from 202 watts to 216 watts or about 7%. Definitely seeing progress and that makes me happy. |
