Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Is everyone following the tour? It's been an exciting first week. Liquigas still has Ivan Basso in the hunt. Roads are starting to go up here in the 2nd week so there should be a bit more separation between the contenders and pretenders. I'm curious to see how he does. |

I haven't been following it since we don't have any cable or satellite anymore. My mom has been generous enough to DVR it for me, but it's up to me to figure out how to get it from the DVR to something useful for me like my computer or a recordable DVD or something. Not sure how I feel about sitting through 40 hours of Tour footage copying it at a 1:1 ratio to have for the winter on the trainer... |

If you can be online while the race is going on, you can watch it live online. Can't remember the site, but if you ask in the Peleton forum, they'll be able to tell you. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I rode 15 extremely lazy miles with the local bicycle club tonight. It took 1.5 hours and we took three water breaks. To watch TdF live, start here - http://www.steephill.tv/tour-de-france/#live- to find the "station" you want to watch it on. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Group ride tonight - aside from traffic signals we stopped one time in 29 miles. Pace was pretty quick tonight and the group kinda blew up after about halfway, which was strange. Kinda frustrating since, you know, it's a GROUP ride and usually that group tries to stick together. It is what it is though. Wanted to get a medium-length ride in tonight and I accomplished that. How's everyone else doing? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Did seven miles tonight. One with my wife on her new bike, then six miles of intervals. New pedals, new shoes, new tires—but I still need a lot of work on the engine. |

Not because I like Texas, but because it seems like everyone around you is getting a new bike and I wanted in on some of that action! =) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For the record, BT's own Team Garmin is getting close to us in post count. Not sure how post count counts towards final standings, but it seems that it was really important last year. |

Not sure how post count counts towards final standings, but it seems that it was really important last year. Well then... here's a pic of me on a bike. This was back when I did Ironman Kansas - still had the cyclocross brake levers on my bike and was rockin' the tennis shoes w/toe straps. Oh and my seat was too low! =) (IMKS4.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMKS4.JPG (17KB - 7 downloads) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You did an IM on a road bike without clipless? There's hope for me yet! (I just got to upgrade from a hybrid to a roady.) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Did 16 miles tonight, 1.5 with my wife Gretchen, then a casual 14.5 miles solo. Changed my goal back to 15 miles per day for each of the 21 days of the TdF. |

We watch on Eurosport (as we're not in the US and have no TV at all) and the coverage is good if you have someone to interpret Stephen Roche. http://cyclingfans.com/ go down to just below the stage profile and you'll have several links to audio, video, multiple languages. The links can sometimes change so I didn't give you a direct link to the feed. |

(I just got to upgrade from a hybrid to a roady.) Sorry, Ironman Kansas 70.3 - ha! It was a long 56 miles when I was doing it at 15mph. About a week after, I raised my seat one inch and instantly went like 1mph faster - not even kidding. It was like night and day! Then I got the cross levers taken off and slapped on the clip-on bars and that helped quite a bit too. Bought some used Speedplays from someone on BT (in a thread where people were complaining about them, no less!) and then went two years before I forced myself to buy some shoes that would go along with them. Hey, I was a noob, and I didn't know that most shoes work with most pedals, as long as you follow a few principles! Plus none of the bike shops in my town had shoes that would fit me. I could cram into a 47 but I knew they wouldn't be comfortable for 5 miles, much less 50 or more, so I ended up ordering some basic ones off Nashbar for less than 50 bucks. LBS wanted at least 80 for theirs, and they were all the ratchet-style (not conducive to putting on/taking off while riding). Not sure why I explained all that, but now you know my road bike upgrade history! ![]() |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Okay gang, I can't seem to get access to any of the live feeds suggested above, so I'm relegated to just copying the recorded files from my mom's DVR on Sunday when I head up there, which will be fine ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm back, sorry for not posting much this week, lol I do most of my posting from work but i've been in training all week. Did a few rides this week, not as long as I would have liked but better than nothing. I did get a new fit on my road bike and it feels much better. so that's another good thing as well. Anyone else racing this weekend? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Swam this morning. No race this weekend and I'm taking today off from the bike and I'll be putting in a semi-long ride and 3 mile run tomorrow. I'm so far behind in running right now. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I did 25 miles this morning. 1.75 with my wife (PR for her!) then about 12 miles of intervals—30 seconds full-out sprinting followed by a minute of slack. And most were into the 15 MPH wind. I hate intervals, I wish somebody would point out that they are bad for you or stunt your growth or something. Then I found myself at the top of a loop of sorts and the wind was coming from the southeast and the loop has a five mile straight and I would be riding it facing northwest. SWEET. I was pulling small hills in my highest gear, felt like I was flying. And from the end of this straightaway it's a mile of open road then through lots of windbreaking trees to get home. |

I'm surprised. We live in Mexico and rarely are able to get any live feeds of anything, but have had no problem with Eurosport. Look down in that list and you should see 3-4 options for English. Did you try all of them? Let me try to screen shot where you should be looking...On the left side of the screen under teh "facebook" link/icon you should have a number of options to try for English. They will ONLY work live and many times cut out before podium presentation but live during Tour coverage, they should work. Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm only 16 miles behind you Kathy and I'm also brand new to tris. (OK, commited to first tri about a year ago in honor of my 50th birthday.) You are putting in 38 kilometers every ride, that's 23.6 miles each time you go out. No way could I keep up that volume. |
