I'm very sore today. Can hardly raise my arms above my head.

Got new running shoes...hopefully helps with my knees...my other shoes are pretty old now.

I guess that means you worked hard! I was just thinking about new running shoes too. I realized I got mine for the last Tri I did in 2008. Have you ever tried soaking in a bath with Epsom salts. It really helps me and is great for giving you a boost of magnesium. ETA your username is making me curious. Are you a computer guy?

Sounds like a lot of great workouts this weekend! Good luck in your marathon rydergal! I can't imagine being able to run that far!I ordered a book with training plans to look through and get an idea. It said it had an Xterra plan si I'm curious to see hoe it compares to the sprint and oly plans. I think it will be good for me to see a few side by side. For those of you that have the premium memberships, do you find them worthwhile? What features do you use? Also, when logging time for an activity, do you include warm up and cool down in your time, or just the workout itself?

Just be careful!! A little soreness is normal, but not being able to lift your arms just doesn't sound right!  Have you tried foam rolling?

ya, it's the weights that make me super sore Maybe could've went a bit easier, but i'm a nothing or all in kind of a guy (which is probably what hurts me in the long run).

Legs are good, psyched about trying out the new shoes tonight. I feel super drained, but 30 mins on the treadmill is no big deal.

Hi guys! Hope everyone's weekend went well. I had a long weekend of call, I was at the hospital till around 11 last night and back this morning. Got to see some cool stuff at least...I'm a bit tired. Just had dinner and will hopefully get to the gym tonight to do a bike...might be short but I'll get on...

Have a good ride! Can you put in a few miles for me since I'm sitting on the couch eating cheese puffs with my daughter. (They are organic baked ones, so not that bad.)

Did 15mins on the bike, and 30 minutes walk/run (c25k w1d2). New shoes felt good...a bit of discomfort on the left arch, but knees felt good. Felt good the whole time...had to force myself to stick to the plan, and not overdo it.

How's everyone else doing?

Swam for an hour this morning. Ran for 4km and rode for 30 minutes. Right now, the indoor riding feels tough and I need to find a bike fitter as something doesn't feel quite right on the bike. How some people ride indoors for hours is beyond my comprehension.

Haven't began my 1/2 IM official plan yet, as I'm still building my base. With my A race on June 24 (Mt. Tremblant 1/2) I need to choose which plan to use and figure out when to start.

I'm doing pretty good I think. I've hit a workout everyday since I started. I'm just trying to work up to a good base on swimming and running. I want to get to 45 minutes on the bike so I'm confident to join the spinning classes at work. I'm up to 30 minutes and usually constrained by 2yo attention span. I would like to be up to running three miles by mid Feb. I'm going to put off swimming for a few months to avoid burnout. I am trying to get the guts up to sign up for a sprint in June. The problem is the one that makes the most sense time wise has 1300 people which freaks me out a little. Also, that means committing to buy a wetsuit. It usually fills up pretty quick so I need to decide.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week! Today I got 1400 yds in the pool at lunch. Turned out better than I thought...get my fins back under me in the pool after a long layoff. Started my 2nd week of bike base building with Power Stallouts. They are short and painful but tell a lot about the state of your game. Keep up the good work!

I ran again today!  I'm right on track with all my goals for the month!

Last week I bought a new pair of jeans that were a size smaller than my previous pair AND just yesterday a friend commented saying I looked trimmer than before.... So even though the scale hasn't been moving, looks like things are going in the right direction.  I know sometimes it takes a while for my body to adapt to change, so hopefully the weight will drop in no time!

Thanks moonrocket!!

I'm finally done my final exam for a university course I was taking so now I have time to stay in touch with the forum!

I was wondering the same thing if it's worth it to pay for the bronze/silver/gold accounts....i don't need the training plans but is there any other benifits? Is the chat worth paying the extra for?? does it get you more options to be able to find people in your area to train or race with?? I find this site is really popular with people in the USA but up here in Canada there's not as many people on it......

Rode for another 30 min the morning, then ran for 45min this evening. Slowly building up and just slightly under my running goal for the month (145km or 90 miles) . Just need to build more on the bike. I can't wait to get to ride outside again. Getting this in is tough. It's funny though, my 7year old daughter told me I need to start riding my bike more. She knows that I'm running and swimming fairly regularly, but at supper she reminded me that I'm going to have a very long bike ride to do. (we drove through a large part of the Tremblant course a little over a month ago). Now my seven year old is going to be pushing me.

Lifted again this afternoon. Also stayed on track with my diet.  I've been feeling really good in the weight room recently!  Plus, I'm starting to run regularly again.... I'm starting to feel like my old self Smile

Regarding the BT membership.... I was a silver member when I trained for my half ironman, and it was definitely worth it for that since I could upload a training plan, move things around, etc.  It made it really easy to organize my training so all I would have to do everyday is log in and it would tell me what workout to do.  I didn't really use it for any other purposes (maybe reading some articles on training, nutrition, etc, and it was nice not to have the ads), so I'm currently not on any paid membership since I'm not using the BT training plans.

Richard, that's awesome your 7-year-old is pushing you to make sure you're not skimping out on your training!  What a cool kid!  I really should take advantage of our unseasonably warm weather (40's- 50's) and ride outside before January realizes that it should be colder!

I think the main benefit is probably the training plans. I only ever bought up to a silver myself and got upgraded for mentoring awhile back so I haven't really paid for membership since prob 09-10. I like using the online plans and I also get some personal coaching off of the site. But in general most of the functions/applications of the website are free access, other than some specific chat things--which I'll admit I've only used a few times so far. Haven't had a whole lot of time to use them. There are actually quite a few Canadians on here...just way more americans relatively. Haha. You can go onto the province specific forums and look at the threads there for info. All free access.

Movies...movies...movies...

I did a 6hr ride back in June when the weather was really crappy in Edmonton. Only day to do it...so I popped in the 3rd season of True Blood and watched 7 episodes....good times...haha...

(I actually only made it to 5:50 and couldnt stand another minute....)

What plans are you looking at? BT ones or other online or ones from books?

Good training everyone. Lots of motivation out there. I was doing fine until I was attacked by walking Pneumonia. The antibiotics are kicking in so I'll be back in the game with a workout tomorrow.

Hey Melissa, do you have a list of Mentees?

Crazy swim workout this morning. (masters program, 1st year) 800 warm up, 200 pullboy free, 200 IM pulling only, then 3 x 400 all out free on 10 minutes. It was supposed to be 4 x 400 then 200 cool down.... But I was toast after the third 400 and stopped my practice a little short. Then ran for 4 km. I was starving at the end. Nutrition will be incredibly important for these events....

As for training plans, I hoping to use plans from the site, but I'm also trying to follow the Barry P run plan and am running 5 to 6 days a week. None of the plans include that. What to do?

I hope everyone is having a great time training, remembering that this is all for fun. It's funny how many people at work think I'm nuts doing all of this, yet they get tired walking up two flight so stairs.
