Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2:52:37... ugh ![]() Given how unprepared I was for this, though, I reckon I can't be too displeased with that. I just have to actually, ya know, start training for the swim & bike ![]() Edited by cgregg 2012-06-04 12:10 PM |

Member![]() ![]() | ![]() I finished the girls tri 26 out of 82 with a time of 59:14. I learned a ton from this experience and I am really looking forward to the next one. |

New user![]() | ![]() Think my last reply might've gotten lost at the bottom of page 5. I'll throw it in here again just in case. Didn't see any of you guys or the sign at the top of the hill. I finished the sprint in 2hr 5min, so I'm not surprised my hubby was the only on around to see me finish. Is anyone doing the HFP Maumee Bay tri in a couple weeks? Despite my abysmal performance at Deer Creek I'll be at Maumee Bay to "tri" again. |

Is anyone doing the HFP Maumee Bay tri in a couple weeks? Despite my abysmal performance at Deer Creek I'll be at Maumee Bay to "tri" again. Don't look at it as abysmal. You did what 99 ish % of the population refuses to, or cannot do. Be proud! x2! You did it, and moreover, you plan to do it again! If you didn't see Aysel and her awesome signs at the top of the hill, or at the end of the run, you must have just hit those spots at the wrong time (maybe you got there too soon?). I saw her at the hill after the first loop, and coming out of T2 on the run. I don't plan to be at Maumee, but I'm also kinda looking at re-working my whole race schedule now to give me more time to train, so perhaps that'll change down the road. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() cgregg - 2012-06-04 10:56 AM It was great meeting so many of y'all, and that sign made me laugh each time I saw it (even though I was half-dead at the time) :-) Congrats to everyone! I'll be better prepared for the distance next time ;-)

great job! i saw you - i said "nice shirt" as i rode by on the bike and as for as being "beginners" most of us are in it for fun and fitness more than to win nationals and all were beginners when we came to the sight and we all want to support beginners. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So I was really glad all of you were there. That was the highlight of my race day. What else went right? My swim and bike were as planned. Transition weren't good but didn't matter to my goals. I got a wake up call for my fitness level. weather was decent What went wrong that mattered? Forgot my watch so no run mile splits Forgot my GU so no nutrition 7 am to 11 am except a few ounces of heed in the run. (I did have 20oz water on the bike) forgot to take my feet out of my shoes coming into T2 - I was really close to taking a very public spill. the run: this is the only thing that really mattered and as soon as i started my heel hurt - that pain went away after half mile but was replaced by ankle pain and for some strange reason I was slapping my feet. that is not normal for me. it led to shin pain. so i pushed on in pain. i finished 4 minutes behind run goal. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Agreed, the weather was great. The gravel on the roads was not. I expected you to catch me on the run, now I see why you didn't. Hope you work that out. Great race everyone. Aysel, I did appreciate the encouragement at the top of the first hill, that comes up on you quick if you're not ready for it. -Kevin |

New user![]() | ![]() Thanks for the encouragement guys! I've definitely had my "sprint" blinders on- no wonder I missed everything since I finished after most sprinters and before all but one oly. Oh well, next time I'll send my hubby fishing and actually stay to see everyone finish. :-) Huge congrats to everyone who participated (Girls Tri Too, Sprint, Oly, Du, everyone!)! @aysel: Sorry to hear that the grilling didn't go as you'd hoped. I hope the food survived so you could enjoy it later! @bruehoyt: I heard you on the bike! :-) Made me laugh because since you were going so fast I didn't recognize you from your profile pic and I thought you were a random person who liked my shirt. :-) Thanks! Feelin' the BT love, ~Melissa |

(trust me, it's an awesome feeling!) Brue- I had GU on me! You should of asked! |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well done everyone. Congrats to you first timers - isn't it an awesome feeling?!?!? It was great to see my old BT friends and meet some new ones. And I agree that Aysel wins for best cowbell cheer support despite not actually having a cowbell and I enjoyed standing with you and cheering for folks on the run course after I finished. And thanks for the shout out on the AG placement, I was very pleased with the day, I somehow managed to pull off a course PR, my race report is up.
Great job everyone, see you soon! |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I might need to grow another one with the way mine looks today. Looks like a career in modeling is out of the question. Anyway thanks for the well wishes. Only long term damage is my healthy fear of cornering. Regardless, it's a good story and I'm glad I was able finish the race. 3 weeks to the Columbus Olympic at alum creek. Roads are much nicer up there! -Kevin |

![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I went to Deer Creek and all I came home with was a Deer Tick! Seriously, had a great time. Did the GTT event, finished 13th (2nd in my age group I think). I am happy with that result considering I couldn't sleep at all the night before and felt awful (then all the water I sucked in on the short swim made me almost vomit from transition to the first leg of the ride). This was my 3rd triathlon and I continue to learn (I ESP. need OW swim experience - I'm up for a swim at Alum anytime...hate to go alone, just out of safety, so I look forward to the organized group swims). Everyone at the race was so awesome - what a great community triathlon is! |
