It happened Friday.  Between a dog and a toddler, I took a tumble down a few steps and literally put my foot through the wall.  At first I thought it was just a sprain/jam, but after 48 hours the swelling wasn't getting better, and the pain was just insane!  So finally went today.

They said only a week off, and then get back to it when the pain was tolerable or gone, so I will give it one week!  My race is just a trail run, so no biggie, just one I have been looking forward too.

If the contusion wasn't on the underside of my toe, I was going to use the boot and just cycle, but the doc gave me a scold, so I thought it best to lay off the bike for the week...I still say it could work, but I guess for once I will listen to the doctor!

For the record, it wasn't me. I was at work, I swear!

I am sure our entire team was wondering about that Wink

I think I would feel more comfortable hearing that from A.J.....

real sorry to hear that A.J. Sounds kind of bad. I'm suprised the Doc just said a week. Not much else you can do, but feet take a long time to heal.

Wow, we really are mimicing the real life Garmin team (as Pete pointed out). You should be able to adjust your goals due to injury, just make sure you heal up so you can get back on the road.

Stage 5 Done

I am starting to think that my Cobb V Flow Max seat is the biggest problem I'm having with the comfort level on my new / used ride (never had one or used one before this bike, but saw how people raved about them).  Is it possible that my hard / small Fizik Airone that I had on my road bike is actually better suited for my me and could be so even on the TT bike?  Not to get graphic but I don't feel comfortable and feel pressure, which I thought could be from the bigger Cobb seat with the Bike Short's large pad causing to much pressure.  I then tried an 8 mile ride with my tri suit on (thin pad) and it seemed a little better but still felt uncomfortable, once again I felt the pressure.  All of this has lead me to the question above, is it possible that the small seat and much thinner nose of the Airone could allow for more freedom and leave me more comfortable.

Only one way to find out.

Bigger is not always better for me with bike seats.

Easy spin today, just 8.75 miles for my 6th stage. At least I'm not resting like those lazy bums on the tour!

Rest day for the tour (oops I hope this doesn't violate the 24 hours on discussing a stage day), and a chance to catch up for those of us who are behind the % completed.

Lets go out and have some fun rides

We have Breezy and Powerman out front in a breakaway, our IMLP particpant (Dr. Bob) with the peloton, EcoMom back at the team car getting treatment and the rest of us somewhere in- between

I plead the fifth on this one!

I get to go back after a week as long as there isn't any pain, but the toe stays buddy taped for quite a few weeks!  I have broken my toes many times in the past, they take forever to heal up for sure, but they were always my little toe, not the big one!

I have been in touch with Cat, and she and I are working on getting my goals changed for me to continue next week!  I'll just be a cheerleader for the next week, so GO TEAM GARMIN!

Got my bike back from the LBS today, so Stage 4 was a mountain stage for me (hill repeats).  Laughing  Warm up, 7x1.3km hills, cool down.  Pulled myself up to 42%.

Mtn Stage for me too - using the term loosely.  11 mile ride - about 4 miles single track and 7 bike path.    Went out with my wife - first time on single track together since before our second child - it was fun!!!!

Hi - just let me know who has been injured and what needs to happen...

There is a standard formula in the challenge rules that I use but just PM me and I am more than happy to help work it out! Then if anyone says anything theres a record! (not that Ive ever needed it!)

So sorry to read about injuries

Cat

Peto and Eco how are yall healing up?

I am actually feeling good!  I put some weight on my foot this morning without pain shooting up, so I am working on some of the exercises they gave me.  I think it is looking good for me to get back on that bike my Sunday or Monday!

Great job everyone!  You are all amazing!!!!  Go GARMIN!
