Anybody got a van I cam borrow and drive across the country? Head race coming up this weekend should be fun!!! My crew wants me to wear pink and black argyle knee socks with black spandex shorts and a red, black and white tank. I have told them Hades will become exothermic first. What say you TAN? Thank You!!! Plus no way am I wearing knee sock with shorts. I told them I would be OK to wear compression sleeves but not argyle socks! ![]() You were concerned with being stylish for a mud run? This is actually a question I wonder about. There is always some tension between exhibitionism and decorum. Some titles like"Dirty Girls Races" tilts titillatingly close to the former. There seems to be a dare to be the most daring or the most creative about being daring. I wonder how other people resolve this tension and how they decide the level to participate. There is a range. Did anyone google Fantasy Fest last night? I did. Some costumes went about as far to the exhibitionist side as possible. Age and weight did not seem to dictate restraint. |

Attention seeking behavior is attention seeking behavior in a race or on the internet or elsewhere. Women garner the most attention by displaying their sexuality. Far too many still see that as their most powerful attribute. |

There is an optimum but usually people go all out one way or the other. Optimization is a too difficult math problem I suppose. TJ was looking for her optimum. Good strategy I would say. I agree, there is also a certain amount of practicality that needs to be present when considering something like a run outfit. That seems to be another thing that goes by the wayside from time to time. I do think as you get older the more you are concerned with the practicality of the outfit than you are with the exhibitionism of the outfit. This seems to come more from experience than anything else. If you have had to deal with the after effect of poor outfit choices the less likely you are to make those choices again. |

There is a question of limiting behavior, participating up to a certain point, and how far to go before the behavior is viewed as inappropriate. My question in general is just how other people resolve that question, even how conscious they are of the choice. Fascinating stuff I tell you. |

That is another trade off we make from time to time and again to our own level of comfort. |

Example: Back in 1983, I graduated H.S., was 18, and my brother-in-law (who was in the Navy and went overseas) brought me a pair of "British briefs" (the skin-tight, just-about-smaller-than-Speedos undies with the British flag on them). I wore them during an airband contest. I won. |

It was a fun thing. Dirty Girls race series. Teams. They all dress up. But our outfits were to exposed for me. I'd of worn a tutu over my running tights. But short shorts for rolling in the mud? No. Teejaay - 2012-10-25 10:25 AM trinnas - 2012-10-25 6:49 AM I got roped into that "costume" for a mud run we did. I wore compression shorts under my "sexy sailor" shorts. And I did the knee socks. It was awful. I have. Pic in my BT album. I felt foolish dressed that way. Teejaay - 2012-10-25 9:43 AM trinnas - 2012-10-25 6:36 AM Pink and red clash. I'd say nooooo. Morning TAN
I totally agree. But, it goes beyond a binary choice of whether to participate or not. There is a question of limiting behavior, participating up to a certain point, and how far to go before the behavior is viewed as inappropriate. My question in general is just how other people resolve that question, even how conscious they are of the choice. Fascinating stuff I tell you. That is a very individual question as it has to do with comfort levels and personality of the individual. There are those who are more willing to subordinate their own selves to the will of others and some where that is less the case. There are just so many things that go into it that it is a very complex process which yes does make it a fascinating study. |

![]() | ![]() I have worn knee-tall socks (not compression) with short shorts as part of a running costume. Hardly exhibitionist. I dunno, you can be the judge. |

That is another trade off we make from time to time and again to our own level of comfort. Bewbs. |
