Member 36 New York City | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Hi there, Well I ended up feeling not too great on friday so turned it onto an off day as I realised I had not included one. Turns out it was a good decision as today I wanted to train - 1.5 hr bike (indoor. I watched Moonrise Kingdom (great movie) 3mile run (kind of a brick) It was all very laid back and cruisy - as it's early days I dont want to go hard too soon and if my training history is anything to go by - I too have the habit of constantly thinking I have to go all out on my training sessions only to end up burnt out, missing sessions. From the reading I have done, this time of year should be for those longer, sub-maximal workouts. I'll subscribe to that!! Tomorrow it's gonna be a a long swim day (2.5km) and a 10km run. Good luck to those who have entered the Kona lottery - I admire you! I cannot imagine myself ever doing anything that long - ever! |

Member 24 Anthem | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Missed my training goals this week, just barely.
With the pool closed for one more week I should be able to get in there consistently then. Missed my ride goal by my long ride training day. I missed yesterday because I was so sore from my training day on Friday. Don't know why, but it may have had to do because of my Wednesday night hockey league start up again after the break.
Missed my run goal by 1.1 mile. Should hit it this week. I've got several days of working long days so I'll get in doubles pretty easily. I know that sounds backwards, but I always tend to work out more when I work than stay home. Family and chores (and tv and sleep) tend to take advantage of me when I'm at home.
I did make up for it with my long skate today. Brutal.... To next week Maybe it's warm up a little and be out of the freezing temperatures. |

Veteran 346 | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Here's my week (S+B+R on Saturday, but no details on my log currently...). Nothing special for the first week preparing for my 1st HIM I guess. Also, didn't manage to schedule it right and complete the program, but I'll compensate it today (one bike + one run). Currently the weather here is disaster. Snow/rain... p.s. I often like to keep track and read someone else's preparation phases (blogs, web pages...). Maybe some of you can put some links out here... I hope some time we'll discuss nutrition. This topic is something I'm especially interested to hear about your regimes and habits. Edited by Gladiador 2013-01-14 12:26 AM |

Extreme Veteran 444 North Brunswick, NJ | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Nothing like 2 predawn miles in the pool to get the heart pumping on a Monday morning! Speaking of nutrition....Breakfast was a McDonalds bacon egg and cheese bagel with hash brown. Definitely not the healthiest meal but my god does it taste good after 140 laps. I wish I had better discipline on the food side. Last week I used the LoseIt app to count calories. It definitely helps and I lost a couple of pounds during the week, but then got them back over the weekend . Grrrr. Hope everyone has a great week! Will post a group summary later today. Off to work. |

New user 12 Ottawa | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed I've been living with my GF at her place for the last little bit and when she spent all of Friday night in the ER with a concussion it sort of threw off my training schedule for most of the weekend. Anyways I'm fighting back to my schedule (I missed my swim this AM) and should be back on track as of now! Extreme Veteran 444 North Brunswick, NJ | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Here's the group summary for last week. Killer week Shawn, 12 hrs, wow. Remember, this is not a competition! Just a way to keep everyone accountable and motivated. Best way to post a summary is to log your workouts here on BT then just copy & paste from the calendar's weekly total column into this thread.

Member 24 Anthem | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Mine should've been in there. Had over 25miles on the bike and almost 9 on the run.
As for as diet. Mon-Thur my days are almost identical... Breakfast Post workout: Cytosport Complete Whey Protein Shake/Cliff Bar Breakfast (for reals): egg white omlete with ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and spinach Mid morning snack: mixed berry cup/ ostrich/beef stick Lunch: Grilled Chicken Salad w/ fat free dressing (add spicy chicken filet, no bun on Hockey game days) or Firecracker Chicken, Broccoli beef, and steamed vegetables (Panda Express) Mid day snack: Broccoli/Carrots/Cauliflower cup with low fat ranch/Ostrich/beef stick Dinner: Whatever the wife makes. Usually it's not the best. If I make it, grilled chicken or fish with either broccoli or spinach. Game nights I eat another egg white omelete. Late snack: Usually 2 tbspns of Peanut Butter
I try to time my meals 2-3 hours apart. I lost my weight by sticking to that schedule, but over the weekends if I don't stay disciplined, it all goes to hell. |

Extreme Veteran 444 North Brunswick, NJ | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group (Year Three) - Closed Getting creative with my training this week ....early morning meeting wouldn't allow me to ride so I moved this morning's ride to last night and got in 18 miles on the trainer. Snuck in a 3 mile tempo run on the treadmill before dinner tonight which was great, then over ate which was bad. Tabata ride on the docket for the morning. |
