I figured it out - I went to Tim's page and copies our group from there and it worked . You can still complain to me if you want - I will just forward it to Tim FYI I am leaving this afternoon for Toronto to visit my sis and to have some fun with TI swimming. Wish me luck. No workout today but I will run tomorrow and I am hoping to put my full IM plan in place tomorrow as well. Have a great day Team RFP. KC Good Afternoon Team. Thanks for doing this Tim - for some reason it is not working for me. I will try it again later. I went to page 5 of our forum and everything is competely messed up and not fitting on one page. I will log back on and give it a try later. KC Edited by kcgolf 2013-01-03 11:21 AM |

Member 170 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Good lunch time everyone! (In SoCar anyway) Today was a run day for me and because I'm a weather wuss (cold to me is sub 50*) and it was cold and wet I did a TM routine today. Legs are a bit weak from the weight session and swim yesterday but my heart rate (as tested by the hand grips) is showing a lot of improvement from when I started. I did 4.25 mile jog on 0.5% incline at 6.5mph which for me is pretty decent pace. Best part was my heart rate never got above 161 which for me is great! When I first started this past May I would scare myself with a 190+ heart rate on a 3 mile run at a 10mmm pace. That said, I'm buying into heart rate and zone training and I'm a bit of a gear head but also frugal. Can I get some recommendations for a budget friendly cycling/running HRM? THe ones that work in the pool are too pricey for a guy that's not competed in a single tri event. Is this money better spent on a wetsuit or should I just rent? I hope you all have some productive workouts today. I'm looking forward to getting my bike fixed up this weekend so I don't have to stick on the spinning stationary bikes at the Y! |

Expert 1566 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED I have used the Garmin 405 for about 5 years now and am going to "upgrade" to the 310XT this year. Everyone raves about the 910 but I just don't have $400 to drop on a watch. The 310XT can be found online for anywhere from $175-225. IMHO I would spend a little more to get a better HR monitor like a Garmin, Polar or Timex especially if you are planning to stick with the HR zone training. A couple features to look for:
This is why I like the Garmin 310XT - it is setup for triathlons and you can easily go from Swim, T1, Bike, T2, Run, Finish. It is also waterproof and you can swim with it. Not sure what price range you are looking at but let us know what you might by before you buy it and we can take a look. phishinphan - 2013-01-03 11:43 AM That said, I'm buying into heart rate and zone training and I'm a bit of a gear head but also frugal. Expert 1566 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Pierce brought up HR and I highly recommend HR Zone training. It takes a while to get used to but it will save you from over training and also provides a good metric to gauge your effort in both training and racing. There are a couple ways to determine you HR zone. The article below is a great way to determine your zones and apply it right to your training log: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=633 A couple of us train religiously with HR zones so if you have any questions fire away! |

Expert 1566 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Thanks KC - I forgot to mention about having GPS or not. I am just so used to having it that I forget they make watches HR monitors without GPS haha. Definitely a great feature though and one you should also consider. kcgolf - 2013-01-03 12:20 PM Hi Team. Member 170 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Thanks guys. Currently I use my iPhone and a fitness app for gps. Luckily I'm running and cycling such short distances that it's not hard to get lost. As for budget...I would think $200 is a fair maximum. Would the money be better spent on a wetsuit though? I like all the bells and whisltes of the 910 and also like the Polar RC5x or whatever it is. I just don't think I can justify spending more on a training watch than I spent on my used 2004 Motobecane road bike. lol |

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Honestly, with a $200 ish dollar budget, I personally would go with a Garmin 305 (I paid $120 for mine and LOVE it, it's easily one of my favorite purchases - GPS, HR, miles etc) and a xterra wetsuit ($99) |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Oh my goodness, I am not on line for a few days we I have pages after pages to read! Welcome Everyone! Pierce, where in South Carolina do you live? I live near the southern Greenville/Anderson county line. There is plenty of us here that can say swimming is not our favorite sport and we struggle with it. I was lucky with IMLouisville that I didn't have the mass start but I am freaking out about it with IMAZ. Deb - I have found that not everyone gives a proper bike fit. On my road bike I got fitted by 2 different LBS and each one fitted me very differently. I have another LBS that says my fit is not correct, but I like and will keep it. I was very lucky and only had to get fitted once on my Tri bike, went to someone who understands triathlons and he set me up perfectly. Swam 1900 this morning. Since joining a different gym I actually have people swimming next to me and I can see this as a good thing as they are pushing me. Have a great day! Kathy (KTC) |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Simone, check to see if your race makes you register through Active and then check you active account and make sure all that data is correct as that can save you time when registering. I have also heard that when registration opens people have just copied and paste their cc# instead of entering it to save time but since mine is memorized it was just as fast. |

I'm in Columbia/Lexington. I feel like my form is pretty decent in the swim I just have 0 endurance. Time in pool will help for sure. I just get impatient and want my body to perform at the level my pride tells me I should! |

Member 25 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED Hey Team. Embarrassed to say that I am a complete blog rookie. With that said, I have some questions which will reveal exactly how green I am at this. 1. I cannot figure out how to find my home training blog or set it up. I have went to settings but not having any luck after that. 2. I cannot figure out how to participate in the BT blog, which might be remedied with the above question answered. Thanks in advance for any help. Dennis |

You can go into "SETTINGS" to change how your blog looks and some of the items on the blog. To enter training information, just click on "Training" on that date on your blog. |

Copying right from Tim's page worked for me, too!!! :-) I ran 3 miles on the treadmill today. I just bought one second-hand from a friend who no longer needed her treadmill and it definitely is more convenient for me, especially when it's 10 degrees outside and I don't feel like dragging the kids to the Y! Hope everyone is having a good day! |

Expert 1566 | Subject: RE: RFP GROUP 2013 - CLOSED So for the new members - I recently made a documentary from my IMWI 2012 weekend. Thought you guys might enjoy and also get to know me a little better . FYI - if you are ever needing to upload a video that has copyright material - use Vimeo. I posted this thing on YouTube and was blocked within 10 minutes and same with Facebook. Crossing my fingers that it won't get blocked by Vimeo but it has been a couple days and so far so good. I made the video just so I could have the weekend to remember since it was such a big part of my 2012. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
