mjh1975 - 2013-01-17 6:29 AM Morning my fellow TANners.

Wud up yo? How is Chi weather treating you?

Yesterday when I was picking up my kids at 3:30 it was 75° out and I had to put my windows down.

QUE PASO, AMIGO?

Not much really new on this end, and the weather is fantastic here in the land of the cold (a smooth 26 out right now).  Actually I dont mind it too much as long as the sun stays out like it has been.

I'll probally be in Chi in 2014 I seem to visit now every other year.

2014, come on over this year.

Is the every other year visit due to a parole issue?

Legally he can only enter Chicago every other year on even years...... After that whole dead hooker in his hotel room trial, it got a bit messy.

Was the name of the hooker Lennay Kekua, by any chance?

TAN seems a bit dead, but I have a couple "interesting" questions.

So, if you were married once and it failed, but the next one is wonderful.  Is that vindication that is was her/him and not you?  Obviously not if you learned, and it could just be you were not really compatible in the first place.

I was thinking of my Ex and all the things that were messed up with that and wondering what I did wrong.  But then thought about my current of more than 10 yrs together and thought maybe is WASN'T me!

The second thing that JUST occurred to me due to our recent schedule with the wife gone 3-4 days a week.  I think my stress levels are lower when she is around by the sheer fact I have someone to talk to about it - even though she can't do anything about it and in fact, adds MORE things to stress about.  But being able to unload every day is therapeutic.

My new project is turning out well.  I transferred my homemade beer to another large bottle (carboy) and took a sample to take a reading and then taste it.  For being a flat, warm, and containing suspended yeast, I could taste the potential!  I'm looking forward to 3 weeks from now.

I have also been doing Insanity for my training.  Talk about needing to be in shape just to work out.  It's HARD.  Too hard, me thinks.  And too intense to be doing every day, IMO.

There's two people in every relationship.... I think that at best, you can simply conclude that it just wasn't the right mix.  Having a successful relationship now just means that you found the right mix.

I grew up skiing and took a boarding lesson to kill some time while my kids were in a lesson at one of the little hills around here.  My attempt at boarding was one of the worst hours of my life.  It looks so graceful, but I was completely humbled.

Nah, stick with it - you'll adapt.  The body will learn to do what the mind tells it to.

But it's kind of like doing speedwork every day.  MY HR is Z4, and I'm using muscles that are sore and had no day to recover.  I think every other day with lower intensity in between would be better.  But so far, it's 3 hard days in a row.

It's too early to tell though.  Tonight is a "recover" workout.  I will see after tonight.  If my recovery day is too hard and I have to jump back into it tomorrow?

Plus I'm just weak.  I can't do half the things they want me to do (or maybe better to say, not as LONG as they want me too) I'm usually good the first set, then barely getting by on the third.  The sideways pushups?  I can do a 15-20 regular pushups when I'm rested and ready, but after 25 minutes of high intensity plyo?  Can't do them.  So I do girl pushups or whatever I can.

It's a PAINFUL but steep learning curve.  I switched and after my first day I swore I would never do it again.  I felt like a busted my tailbone.

But after a couple more times out, I was a better boarder after one season than after YEARS of skiing.  I can board on just about any terrain - stuff I wouldn't even try with skis.  However, I was skiing in the days of long/skinny skies which made bump skiing rough.  210's don't fit between the bumps well.  I would be interested in trying the shorter fat skis now.

But again, I feel MUCH more graceful and fluid on a board than I ever did on skis.  Wonderful linked turns rather than skiing "Z's".

That's the part that gets better. It's the same as with lifting weights.

Hard days back-to-back-to-back are fine as long as it isn't high impact like in running. The body WILL adjust in time.  That said, definitely push yourself, but listen to your body, too. Don't be afraid to ignore what it says, though... it can do more than your brain thinks it can.

Don't forget to stretch afterward.

ETA: Hard days back-to-back, etc.. are fine as long as you are not constantly re-hammering the same muscle groups.  I'd expect that their workouts change up the major muscles they target each day.

I grew up skiing and took a boarding lesson to kill some time while my kids were in a lesson at one of the little hills around here.  My attempt at boarding was one of the worst hours of my life.  It looks so graceful, but I was completely humbled.

Hmmmm, I might have to try again.

Bah, ever time they talk about football now and the playoffs, my stomach hurts.

That Denver loss is hard to get over and still gets me sick.

Welcome to the life of a Cowboys fan

or a Browns fan.

As a Browns fan, I wanted Denver to beat the crap out of the Ravens, but I also took great joy in seeing Elway being disappointed.
