I'll second that in the good run.  8:08!  Wow.  I've never run at that pace.  That is bookin!  Good job!  I'm more around the 10-11 min pace and just sub 10 on race day.

With Mike Ricci's help and some good workouts, I'm on a mission to to get those times down.  Off to the Y for an evening workout.

I've got two runs and a swim in so far this week and I'm already behind! I missed a bike trainer session today and will have to make it up tomorrow after another swim.

Buddaha try loosening your shoes if you are getting numbness or you may have to try a different brand. It sounds like you are cutting off circulation.

Thanks but this is on a treadmill. Boring but can set it and just go. I find it is easier to go faster on a treadmill than outside. My outside runs are closer to the 8:30 to 9 min mark and with a race around 9 to 9:30. That is more what I want to bring down. Alot of people pass me on the run. Now it is my turn to pass on the run.

Hit a wall today. Actually I think it is the snow and cold weather. Need some sun. Needed to take a day off. Legs felt sore and couldn't get motivated. Will get back into it tomorrow.

Great job on the swim Buddaha, I haven't done over 1000 yards ever. Good times also. Wish I could lower my times to yours on the swim.

Does anyone have any tricks to stop snacking while being bored. I am terriable about snack on bad stuff. Then after I am done I realize that I didn't need it. Need some suggestions on this topic. HELP

How does everyone keep track of their laps when they are swimming. Does anyone else loos track as they are swimming? You can always guess but then you are not sure you swam what you wanted. If so I got this for christmas and it has helped a lot. Now I can just concentrate on technique and not remembering what lap I was on.

http://www.sportcount.com/products.php          I know it is another thing you have to take to your workouts but it is well worth it.

Found this on another thread. Looks like a good way to build up to a mile.

After I figured out what my distances and times were I've been doubting the length of the pool. The one I'm normally in is 25yds per length but thats been full lately and I've been having to use a side pool with lane markings as well.

My lap count is done by time. I know from timing it several times, I wear my heart rate monitor in the pool, that it takes me two full minutes do to two complete laps. If this pool 25 yds. per length then thats 100yds. I swam for 26 minutes divided by 2 minutes per 100= 1300 yds. Tomorrow I'll verify the distance.

Ok here's the deal I was able to get into the lap pool this morning. The side pool is definitely shorter. So my actual time is 3 minutes +/- for 100 yards not the 2 min. its showed in my log.

Today I swam 1200 yards, towards the end my right foot cramped in the arch. I was able to stretch it out and keep going. Then on the last lap my right calf cramped bad enough that it still hurts now an hour later.

I used the lap feature on my monitor to track my laps so I'm confident the length is right this time. I'll have to do the math on the side pool so I can convert to distance when I get stuck over there again.

Didn't do the bike last night my back was hurting some and my leg was killing me. Had the wife work it over with the stick. Did do my 35 minute run this morning, 3.20 miles leg was still sore but bearable. Feet did go numb on the last five minutes of the run. My right shoe was so loose I was worried I would get a blister on my heel. As soon as I stop I can feel the blood returning, I don't get it, but it does seem like I can go longer each time before they go numb. Maybe its related to that thing I used to get on the sides of my legs, where the muscle on the outside of the calf would lock up durning runs. We'll see how it goes on Tuesdays long run, 44 minutes.
Stretched it alot today, 475 calories burned during my run but had KFC for dinner last night then looked it up online. 1850 calories for dinner, ouch! That'll be the last time that happens (until the Superbowl that is).

I swim in a pool that has a very distinct, if not overpowering chlorine smell. It seems that after 2-3 min. in the pool, I get a headache and start to feel nasueous. (I swam as kid indoors and out and don't remember getting naseous, except from over exertion , usually 45-50 min into workout). Any advice on how to overcome this?

Went crazy today. After not doing anything yesterday I wanted to do a long run. I was going to try and run 8 miles. We'll I did run 8.37 miles in an 1:11'20 min, and felt pretty good. As I was about to finish I realized that my car key had fallen out of my pocket somewhere around the 4 mile loop in the park. So I call my wife to bring the spare key to me.  Then I had to keep warm so I set off and ran another 2.33 in 21'09 min., very slow though. So my total was 10.7 miles in and 1:32 min. Pretty sore now. Need to go stretch. Everyone keep it up.  Lost another pound this week. Current 205. 20 pounds to go.

Hi Guys,

How's it going?  Off to the pool again.....ugh... I am still bikeless.  My bike hasn't showed up yet in the mail.  Thank god my pool doesn't have that chlorine problem.  I did belong to a gym that did have that problem.  I kept hassling the manager about it.  Finally it got better.  I tried the nose clip to help the smell from going up my noise but then my breathing went to crap.

FYI- Budda is coming this way and we might do a race together.  Can't wait.  Fingers crossed.

Keep those RPE down this time of year.  Easy - slow - long, you can't go wrong.

Got my swim in today then 1 minute into my bike ride I was paged for work. Hopefully I'll be able to get my ride in tonight.

Jetpack, I'm still keeping my options open on that race. I'm not so sure I'll be able to run two 5K's in one day, but I did find a shop down there that I can rent a bike from. I'll let you know.

I've got two really AWESOME recipes for superbowl.  Not sure about the health factor but I swear, if there is any left over, well then it wasn't my recipe.  :-) On it's way tomorrow.

1. Crab dip  (made my imitation as well for shellfish alergies)

2 Mexican Corn Salsa

Thanks for the listen to the podcast.  Got another one coming by the end of the week.  Sunday was a rest day.  Tomorrow is a swim and run day.  Might throw in some light weights.  Running in my first race of the year.  10k Classic in Saint Pete this Saturday.

Started my new swim workout this afternoon. zero to 1 mile. I can do a 1/2 mile but would like to increase my speed as well as my distance. Hope this will help. Has intervals and well as distance training. First day of week one.

Droped another pound. 204.

Congrats PGilger I know the lower you go the harder it is to lose.

Ran 4.02 miles in 44 minutes on the treadmill. I had my shoes so loose I barely had enough laces left to tie them. My feet still went numb in the last 8-10 minutes of the run. Because the runs are getting longer its getting later and later before they go numb though. I think its just going to be something I have to gut out and push the threshold beyond my planned race distances.

Down to 233 lbs. thats a loss of 10 pounds from when I started trying to lose but still 5 above a year ago and 53 from my ultimate goal of 180. But at least I'm trending down now, needed to log everything I ate with an eye towards keeping my calorie intake to between 2000 and 2500 each day before I stated to make any real progress.

Hey Buddaha

Do you have off the rack running shoes. Might be the shoes are wrong for your stride. Go to a running company store and have them check your stride. Maybe it's the shoes. They can suggest some shoes to go with your stride. I have off the rack shoes now but plan on going to the store and having them check me out and see how I run sometime in the near furture.

Did a BRICK workout today. Ran 2.57 miles than got on the stationary bike for 30 min. then went back and ran 1.79 miles. Forgot how heavy your legs are after you get done riding for the first half mile or so.

Plan on swimming tomorrow.
