Last long run before NYC. 19 miles. That gets me to 99ish for the month. Goal is 120 - so now with my 2 week taper - things are looking good.

Ok, so that .01% chance of me not having the internet this weekend reared it's head.  Now I'm back in town and ready to get your miles for the week.  Thanks to those who have already sent their's in.  Let's go mashers!

It sounds like everyone is doing great.  I missed a few runs this weekend, sorry!  I've planned out the next 10 days of training, and the misses won't really hurt me, I'll just need to make up 4 miles.  Spread 1 mile out of 4 runs or something.  Anyways, bottom line, I'll be there, and it looks like everyone else is going to be there too, so I'm looking for a 100% Mashers completion ratio!  Good job everybody!

Did we ever hear from the few that kind of went missing and are we still including them in our overall %?

Sure, I've posted another version of it in the leaders thread, but here's another one.

Here's a sneak preview of what it says:

BamBam66 - 76.16%
cmrey528 - 72.17%
Comet - 78%
m1sh4p - 49.1%
mixie - 63.96%
nanners - 75.25%
Robin314159 - 49.5%
runnerx - 82.79%
sczerny - 8% (dropped from team)
smilford - 78.1%
mtskibum - 67.2%
davealt - 49%

This is current through Sunday.  Our team total is 67%, without sczerny.  It seems low, but really there are only three of us below 50%, and I think each of us 3 will be really close to 100 be the end, so our 67 should be much closer to 100 by the end.  Keep running Mashers!

Hi,

Im just writing a note here to get feedback regarding those people affected by the fires in California as Mother Nature is an unforeseen circumstance that we could not have planned for with this challenge.

They way I see it there are 3 groups:
- Those evacuated due to fire risk
- Those whose running is affected due to smoke in the air
- Those who are working as part of the fire fighting crew

I have some ideas on how we can address this but the key suggestions are:
- Let another team member or members pick up their mileage in the next 7 days (this only counts from miles run from today)
- Allow for goal reduction based on planned workouts for days affected due to fire fighting or evacuation (has to be a fair way to do this, if you committed 50 miles and have only run 10 miles to date dont try and tell me you were going to run 40mile in 7 days!!!)

Those affected by smoke can use the gym or elliptical or treadmill to meet their goal OR if you do not have access to these facilities the above will apply.

Please let me know via PM or in the team leaders thread anyone affected and what you want to do ASAP as the end of October is almost upon us.

Please stay safe
Cat

This has been my ankle over the last few days:

Right after the injury:

After it swelled up:

Now the swelling has gone down, but most of my foot is green from bruising.

So short story is I hope the Monsters don't get penalized because of me. I didn't want to render myself un-runnable. In fact, i'm rather quite bummed I can't go running now. I just arrived in Perth, which has a bunch of sporty stuff to do that I can't participate in.

If that doesn't get you excused from the challenge, I don't know what will!

My apologies team Monsters, but I have had to pull out of the challenge due to a foot injury as well. I was on my way and thought things were good after my half mary, but my foot has been sore for a week now. It's getting better, but it's not 100% yet. Don't know if it is a stress fracture or what. Time will tell.

Keep cranking those miles!

Wow!!!! Hang in there everyone! Here I was a little bummed because I was a bit tired on my run today and cut it short (it was pouring rain too!), but after reading the last few posts, I just feel thankful that I can do what I did. Injuries, fires, what else?????

Wishing y'all the speediest recoveries, and perhaps rain to douse those fires. If it means anything, I am getting some encouragement from my fellow mashers. I was thinking about the challenge on my run today and that I need to keep going, but also thinking that sometimes you do need to play it safe so you can come back stronger next time. I'm sure at some point in my marathon next week, I'll think of all the Mashers and it'll give me a boost.

Wow, dang guys.  I'm really sorry about what you guys have been going through the past few days!  I hope things are working out for you now.  I was telling mtskibum last week, even though we're all fired up about the run challange, it's jut for fun, so if you need to take time off for all the things mentioned above, everyone will be totally understanding.

Anyway, I need to run 8 miles a day for the next 5 days to hit my goal, but I think I can do it.  I may have to skip one bike ride, but that's it, so I don't think I should have a problem being there.  Sorry I've been lax on inspires and posting onto the forum, it's been a busy week a work.

smilford - we have dropped one person from the team because they haven't logged onto BT since 10/5.

I added 3.1 miles to my total this morning.  Didn't keep track of the time or anything else since I really didn't want to do it.  Used the treadmill.  I think I still have 5 miles to go.  I'm thinking that might have to happen WEdnesday morning as I don't see any other time for it to get done.  Unless I decide to go out tonight and try to destress.
