Go Yanti!!!  I'm a volunteer for this race, and this means we'll get to meet IRL!  If DH is not in Iraq he's competing as well!

I'm usually kind of quiet on the weekends.  I'm online so much during the week I try not to veg in front of the computer on Sat and Sun.

Awesome job, Melissa!

Yanti, you can do both the race and the money...just remember you  only do 1 or 2 of those big races anyway because of  the periodization for training (see Gail, I'm learning something!)  so that takes place of all the little races cause if you add the entry fees for all the little ones you spent that much money on races this year (and then some when you calculate the extras and necessary supplies

What killed me this year wasn't so mch the entry fee but the fact that we traveled for 2 races and the first one we stayed in a hotel for a week cause DH is taking on line classes toward his MSN and needed a hotel with high speed internet connections to keep his work going.

Yanti - you go girl, signing up for a HIM!!!  $200 is about the going rate around here for that distance.  Not surprised it's a little more where you are.

Not sure how much computer time I'll be able to get in this weekend.  Hope every body has a great one.

A belated hello to everyone - I was on holiday on Friday

Here's my intro:

Real name: Gill

Located: near Reading in the UK - which means I'm heading home as half of you are getting up. Expect late and early posts from me!

Tri experience: 1 sprint tri in 2006, a duathlon and the bike leg of an olypmic tri relay; I've done a bit of running including 2 half marathons but my knees can't take it!

But that was all in the past - which brings me to my goals - in April this year I had my daughter (first baby for hubby and me) and I went back to work in September. A few weeks later and I noticed that sitting at a desk all day was making my "baby" weight head in the wrong direction. Exercise was clearly called for. Now I can't train without goals, so my first goal was just to get out the door each morning (in the dark, with a torch, before anyone is awake!) and try and break into a run.

For November I want to keep up the run/walk thing plus get back on my bike. Longer term, I want to be running 5k before the end of the year and I'm about to post my entry form for the Windsor sprint triathlon for June 2008 (although I don't quite know how I'm going to manage the swimming training).

How I got started: my husband had done a couple of tris and I was envious sitting on the sidelines. I've always trained better with goals, and I wanted to lose a bit of weight before I had a baby (figured it might be easier to get back into shape afterwards, if I had been in shape beforehand!). I stumbled across BT when I was looking for a training plan and the challenges are the perfect way for me to stay motivated.

I'm off to find the couch to sprint training plan now before my daughter wakes up...

ps. I'm not changing my avatar until I can run to the pound (local village square) and back

Yet another updated spreadsheet!

Congats to Yanti for her quick reply on the main Challenge thread. She snapped up Greg (So Clean So Fresh) for Team 8 before Cat or Beth saw his post.

Oh, I found it out all ready.... you PM the forum moderator and request it.

But.... we'd already gotten to page 10 of our new thread when I found out.... I wonder if the moderators can combine the 2 threads though....?

Hm. Wouldn't want to make it look like we had fewer posts, right?

Team Spreadsheet "Due Dates"

Hi all,

The Challenge started on Nov 1st and ends on Nov 30th. So all of your workouts during the month of November will count.

The first "week" will be longer than 7 days. But the final week will be shorter.

So here are the "weeks" you'll use for reporting your workouts:
Thurs Nov 1 - Sunday Nov 11 *
Mon Nov 12 - Sunday Nov 18
Mon Nov 19 - Sunday Nov 25
Mon Nov 26 - Friday Nov 30

The "progress reports" (aka spreadsheets) will be due from the team leaders on these days:
Monday Nov 12
Monday Nov 19
Monday Nov 26
Saturday Dec 1st

The extra day is so that the team leaders can collect the end information without having to nag their team become overly stressed.

* This does not mean you can wait until Nov 10th to start working out! LOL

Team Leaders - you can post the updated spreadsheets on the main Challenge thread. (This is the one with the push pin sticky. Since it's pinned to the top of the forum, it'll be easier to find. And I think the "chatter" on it will calm down soon.)

And if you're all wondering why your teams are so full.... Well, as of tonight, we have 94 people participating in the challenge!

Dee - I won't be able to report in my info for the final week until I get back from my cruise. I'll be gone from Sunday, Nov. Nov. 25 through Sunday, Dec. 2. We get back into San Diego on Sunday morning, so I should be able to post that evening.

WELCOME GILL AND GREG!!!

I'm tellin' ya, we are a team of super hotties. You two will fit right in. Gill, I think your tummy shot is AWESOME! Greg, ah, what can I say, I would love to draft off you in any kind of water, on any day. Not for the speed ... for the view.

Can someone remind me to not put my inside voice on the outside so much?

We have two super boy sharks on this team, and an incredible array of women who are overcoming all sorts of challenges through tri! That's great.

So, I blew out a 23-mile run today ... surprisingly, it was very sweet and smooth. I am really excited about my upcoming marathon!!! (Dec. 2, California International)

Tomorrow will be a light recovery bike and swim, if I can fit it in, and if not, fine too. Will take Monday off. Maybe do some walking too.

P.S. General Bunny, great work on getting our thread properly named!!! We're official!

Not a problem!

This isn't a "penalty avatar" type challenge, so this won't affect the other teams.
