It is rather frustrating that the FedEx tracking page on my PT wheel hasn't updated since 5/20 at 6AM when it supposedly left Bloomington CA.  It still says that it is expected to arrive on 5/25 but I've been chomping at the bit for several days for an update.  I figured that since today is a new business week that I would learn something new but I guess not.

I have a mental image of a FedEx guy running alongside your new wheel using a stick to keep it going....but he's gotta be way fast to make it from CA to MI in 5 days.  Good thing he left at 6am. Wink

Carl...same thing with my PT shipment as well as my garmin edge shipment (both fed ex).  My experience with fed ex in the past is that they do some updates periodically...then BAM...it's at your door.

40k TT race report is up

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=209547

I think the weather kept the turnout low.  I doubt anyone signed up on race day, and I know there was some no shows who had paid in advance.

Great report!  I'm amazed to see how many good cyclist are around you...yeah, I know it's Hawaii.  You put a great effort in and ended up with what I thought was a pretty fast pace!

Awesome job.  I love the part about breathing with your mouth wide open.  I love it when it gets to the point when your own air flow makes those crazy noises coming out.  Makes ya feel alive!  haha

Thanks.

I think I really like this distance.  It's short enough where you can still go fast, but just long enough where you have to empty the tank just to finish.

At least I'm not the only one who makes those noises when breathing hard...LOL.

Thanks to everyone who read/commented on my race, I do appreciate it.  Overall, I can't complain a bit.  Buuut, that doesn't mean I can't wonder a little.  Was I really out of gas at the end?  Could I have tried to pick it up for the last 1.5 miles?  Could I have made a run at the guy in front of me and finished?  Or did I just give up?  I'm a Monday morning qb to the extreme, never really happy with my results.  It sucks.   Be happy when you give solid effort, don't be like me.

PT/wheel left on the delivery truck from Perrysburg OH this morning at 6:50AM.  It only needs to travel a short distance over the border to me.  Hopefully it is here soon!

I'm the same way.  It's easy to monday morning qb...because your body is no longer in pain and your no longer gasping for air.  I like to take the accomplishments in stride...but it's okay to never be fully satisfied.  The day that happens is the day I start to slack off.

Did you get fit yet.  Let me know how you like the adamo saddle.  Just by eyeballing, it seems really far back...especially since you're not using the forward seat mount.  maybe you just have a long torso.

Yeah....I got fitted (1.5hrs worth) when I picked her up.  We fiddled with seat position for a great majority of that time.  Where it is, now.....the side-to-side is non-existent.

It's not "aggressive".  It's ergonomic (for me).  For now, that's FINE!

Ergonomic is good to start.  I did the same thing.  I don't have too much drop from my seat level to my cockpit, but it's something I plan to fiddle with as my flexibility and aero comfort improves.

glad to see you have all been busy while i was away!!

in the past 4 days i have driven from philly, to NY, to columbus OH, to portsmouth ohio, worked all day at a race, slept, raced a HILLY half IM the next day, drove to louisville, then to columbus, and then back here to philly.

will get a full race report up but the half went very well, led the swim and came out in 23 min (was about 300m short, so approx 27 min half swim), led the bike till 7 miles left in the bike, ended up riding WAY too hard on the hills. 90% of this bike course is either up or down with 5 climbs over a mile.

came off the bike tied for 2nd but legs were fried, and ended up running it in for 3rd overall. to give you an idea of how hard the bike/run course was teh winner went 5:03 and the course record is 4:43.

i also tried to set an award for the cheapest bike to podium finish in an elite race ever, raced on my dads 400$ road bike, no aerobars!! photo below from post race.

haha!! nice ride (it looks like mine!) - I bet you got some mean looks at the finish line. Just shows the engine is more important!  Looking forward to the RR and congrats on your podium finish!

Great race David!  Really interesting that you used your Dad's bike. You sure proved how important the engine is, but would you have done better than third with your own bike?
