Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 2So, had a bit of family drama this weekend. My step-dad (78 yo, 1 year post tx for primary neurolymphoma ) was at his oldest son's home in CT for a birthday celebration. They called my mom Friday evening saying that he was vomiting and had chills and not making sense. Well, the not making sense isn't exactly new but v & c was a concern. Told them to take him to the local ER. As I got a bit more info, figured it out. He was simply dehydrated. They'd had a few beers that afternoon and then coffee after dinner. He'd only had beer and coffee to drink all day. He hasn't drank coffee since his chemo treatments. Beer with a caffeine chaser = vomiting and amplification of dementia symptoms. Anyhow, quick round of IV fluids and he was fine. That was Friday. Saturday, got a call from my sister. Nephew's dorm was evacuated at 6am because of a suspected meth lab in one of the student's rooms. Nice. Turns out the budding chemistry majors weren't cooking meth, but rather something called DMT. I'm not exactly up to speed on recreational drugs so not sure what it is other than some form of hallucinogen. 400 college freshmen tossed out of their dorm beds at 6am on a Saturday and unable to get back into their rooms for approx 12 hours. Fun times. My life was boring in comparison. Had a nice day in the city yesterday. Took the mtb out for an easy spin today, followed by cheering for my soccer team which I abandoned this season for marathon training. Now must get focused on dinner. |
