Kido - 2011-06-13 3:44 PM Sup TAN.  Contractor is here measuring for the new kitchen!  YAY!  Ours was a little dated.  I hope everyone's weekend was awesome!
Kitchen overhaul is rough. You basically rip the heart out of your home. Microwave meals are really awful. Get a grill and use it as much as possible.

Fortunately, it should not be THAT bad.  We went the route of cabenet refinishing.  We have wonderful cabinets, but just in an aweful white oak color (even had some "pink" in it, blech) and tile countertops - very dated.

So, they are installing new drawers and cabinet doors and staining the frames to match...  Should look fantastic.  They will be in and out in a few days since everything is pre made.  That's what they said, anyway.

Then countertops go in and new sink.  That may take another day or two, but we need to stage that around the cabinets.  Going with a granit, me thinks.  Still a pricey job, but getting NEW cabinets is rediculous.  Like 20% of what the house is worth!  haha!

Which is what I find amazing...  New kitchen (with new cabinets) is 50k, when the house is only worth 1/4 million.

A new hard drive for a laptop is 100 bucks, when a whole new laptop is 500.

My wife drove over the head of my bike pump.  27 bucks for a new head OR, 45 bucks for a whole new pump.

They almost price things to make them disposable.  It's almost more cost effective to get a new house/computer/pump.

I know. We glanced at countertops. 15years since I re-did our kitchen. Silestone quartz is ridonculous. Granite is actually cheap in New england since we quarry it here. Simple black / grey can be had for $35 per linear foot and laminate is $20. Corian is $45 and quartz is $50.

Appliances are best bought as a group, but you've got to be able to write that check in 1 fell swoop. Ouch.

well, good news from the Ortho Dr. I guess.  DId not tear my ACL, but rather Dislocated the Cap..  The crappy part is he stated "No Running, Biking for 6 weeks..".  Not real sure if I am going to follow Dr. order on that one. Undecided

How is everone else doing on this fine Monday?

Be careful! Long term injury isn't worth it at all!

Monday is almost over! Can't wait to get out of here. Run and swim planned for tonight, and then Game 6! Let's go 'Nucks!

True, but it is easier said than done.  6.5 days off cigs so I need something to relieve my stress and get my mind off of smoking.  guess running in the pool is not that bad of an idea.

So the doctor called and for a split second, I had this fantasy that they were going to say that there was a mixup at the lab and the tests were actually negative.  Stupid, right?  I really had a hope..

Anyway, they still had decent news on the insurance front and are going to help...  So not a bad call.

Back in my own house for my one day off this week. The temperature is in the low triple-digits and I got back to a broken air conditioner. At least I get to just call the owners and have them deal with it, and I'll be back out for the rest of the week. I really hope I come back to a functioning A/C.

Cheri, did you change your avatar back to the previous pic, or did something go wrong? Not that I'm complaining, but I remember peppermint stripes, and now I'm seeing blue again. Or am I remembering wrong. Maybe that was someone else. 10-hour days in 100 degree desert for 6-day work weeks can get to a guy. It's almost over, it's almost over, it's almost over, it's....I want a raspberry milkshake!!

I would say that, though people may be having this problem, NOBODY is complaining

Morning, Cheri! I must say, though, I like your new swimmy much better. I'm not one for solid colours

I have no idea. I think Lu has HUGE mental blocks. He's played terribly in Boston this whole series, and just has it in his head he can't win there. Same with his issues with Chicago for the past couple of years. Once something, someone or some team is in his head, he can't get it out.

It was an ugly game, that's for sure!
