Congrats! Can you loan me some of that speed? |

You sure proved how important the engine is, but would you have done better than third with your own bike? i think i could have picked up a few min, but it would not have changed the overall results. the guy that won always kills me. i have held him off in two races till half way through the run but he is FAST. i still dont have the bike fitness this year for that course (there is no way to not bike hard),. |

![]() what's the TTT? Great race. Wondering why you decided to use your dad's bike suddenly. Seems to violate rule #1 of racing. Is that your RV in the picture? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm interested in some feedback on my current bike fit. I was fitted back in January when I had the aerobars added. My LBS guy told me that bike fitting in Japan is not that common and he doesn't get many requests for fitting. He did take a course in the US. If I recall, he did say he could move the seat further forward and drop the bars down some, but he was a little concerned about whether my body (back) would handle the angles. He told me to bring the bike back in for an adjustment after I had put in some time with the current setup. I'm long overdue on getting back to the shop, but I really wanted to get some time outside before doing so. The weather has finally let me get in enough time to know that I am comfortable with the setup. On the other hand, I do find myself scooting forward on the seat. Anyway, I'd appreciate any comments. Let me know if this link doesn't work: http://picasaweb.google.com/conwayclan14/BikeFit#5475382753138684898 |

![]() ![]() |
Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() how do you feel riding it? any pains? can you ride it for however long you need to? most people do slide a bit more forward when using the aerobars, but let me know how it feels and we'll go from there (FWIW my dad looks almost exactly the same on his bike, but with less hair). by the way, how do you like that bike? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() newbz - 2010-05-25 8:04 PM RR and full nutrition data. http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid... /> Incredible race! I cannot imagine riding and unfamiliar bike for 20 miles much less 56. I vacationed not to far from where the TTT was held and ran into a cyclist there. He talked about some hills that are 2-3 mile climbs and how hard they can be. Now add the swim and run to the race and it sounds like a good way to smash yourself in oblivion. I walked some of the hills while hiking and they can be brutal walking if you're not prepared. Edited by DirkP 2010-05-25 8:37 PM |

I am still working on gettin a bit more aero on my roadie. FWIW, I cannot slide my seat forward into the position I need it in. I have tried to turn the seat post around and......well, it rides uncomfortable to say the least. I am going to try to buy a center mount post to throw me more forward. Dcon, I say this so you are aware that you may need to look at some other options as well. I have lowered my bars by moving spacers around and this has helped quite a lot. I am to new to the sport to say how much time I have saved by dropping the bars 2 spacers but I had a 42 mile ride last Sunday at 18.3 mph on a hilly course that I had never ridden before. I was telling my boss who is a cyclist and he said that was pretty good for that kind of distance with only riding since August. I say it's all because of the aero. |

Feels good. He did raise the seat and move it forward during the fitting. Those changes felt better than my previous fit even in the non-aero positions, i.e., felt more comfortable and more powerful. After spending more time in the aero position, I feel a lot more comfortable in the drops too. My longest ride with the current fit was 1.5 hours and no problems with that. I'm planning on slowly cranking up the distance - adding 15 minutes per week to my long ride. I was having some problems with my calf muscles getting really tight, but I realized that I was focusing my push towards the front of my foot. I've since focused on a flatter pedal position and calves are quite a bit better. I like the Bianchi, but I really don't have a lot to compare it to. The LBS guy talked me out of carbon and into aluminum and thought the Bianchi was a better fit for shorter riders (like me). He said he'd be happy to sell me a carbon frame in a couple years if I really liked riding. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I got my PT/wheel today! I got home around 7PM and it had finally arrived. I swapped cassette, tube/tire(yes I am that cheap!) and attached the head unit. I only got in a 3mile test ride but I planned NOT to ride today anyway. I just wanted to make sure that I would be fully functional for a nice 40miler tomorrow morning. Nice race Newbz! Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() got it, have always liked the looks of their bikes but never been on one. i'd say he did a good job with the fit then, only think you may want to change down the road is slip the stem over to lower the bars a bit, but that would totally depend on if you can even ride like that or not (and how little you may get back from that change). sounds like everything ielse is now spot on. |

You're getting me all exited. My PT is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but my garmin might not get here till next week. Oh well. |

![]() Ok...just looked up the TTT. Why not call it the quad T if there are actually 4 races. That's insane. You literally do more than an IM...and something makes me think it's actually harder to do the 4 races in three days than it is to do one IM. You gotta be tired and sore by the time the half comes up. |

My data analysis showed a power output of 700watts at the very beginning. I'm assuming this happened because when I started pedaling my cassette tightened up. I don't really have any numbers to go by. I was just changing it up to see the fluctuation. I'll post the numbers from tomorrow morning's 40mile ride though! I'm amped! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() the power when you first start ridin from a stop/sprint at a hill, etc, is very very high due to the higher torque. if i came to nearly a stop and then sprinted i could hit over 1k, but while riding steay and then trying to up it i could never get it over 700. it is all about how the power is applied in that case. |
![]() ![]() |
![]() if that's the case then I'm going to go from a stop, then sprint, then slam my brakes and repeat. I should have awesome power numbers...LOL |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Dave that is awesome what you did at the race. It makes me laugh to know that you almost beat everyone on the bike using your dads bike. For some reason today my legs are destroyed after my run monday and then a 35 miler on the bike yesterday. Its weird because last week my numbers were way higher and I felt great all week. The temperatures were down a lot more. I am not used to riding or running in the 80's. I have been drinking water and gatorade like a mad man trying to stay properly hydrated but I think I havent done a good enough job and thats why my legs feel like steel. I figure I am going to stretch for a bit while catching up on the giro and maybe make it out for a ride. It probably didnt help that I consumed more alcohol on Saturday night then all of BT consumes in a month. God help my liver. Haha |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You look pretty good to me Dan. The only thing I notice is that you are just a bit extended beyond what I would want with your arms. You can also eventually take a couple of the spacers out from under your stem to get you a little more aero. Just my 2c. |
