My husband is kicking me out of the house!  I am so antsy and cannot sit still!  I was fighting him on it but I do think I am going to go out for a bit.  Joe's birthday is in 2 weeks and is fixated on a cake with 4 different super heroes.  I am going to hit up a store and see what I can figure out.  He wants Spiderman, Batman, Ironman, and Captain America.  I have it figure out except Ironman.

So I have been lacking motivation the last week, probably the worst in years.  Not sure if I am just getting burned out or life stress with work, band, kids, etc...  I figure I need  little bit of down time so I have not really stressed out about it.  On Firday I actually got dressed, got on the treadmill and was about to hit start and I talked myself out of it and stepped off and went upstairs to watch tv!!!  TERRIBLE. hahahah

So used up all my motivational gold coins this weekend to get back into things:
- I bought some new running shoes (Asic GT-2160)
- I finally got my 70.3 sticker and put in on my car
- I uploaded my next Ironman 70.3 training plan into my log
- I added my spring marathon training plan into the log ( Starts December 26)  I am usig this 4 hour marathon program.
- I wathed my DVR'd Ironman Wisconsin
- I got my butt on the treadmill and ran 3 miles.  Funny but that three miles was almost harder than the Ironman this summer haha.

Hopefully this will work - we'll see.

I have been tracking Meggan this morning - hope she is ok - her pace (15:18) seems a little slower than her normal  pace of around 10:30-11:00.  She had mentioned her knee was bothering her - hope she is ok.

UPDATE 1/2: - Looks like she is doing much better with a 2:53 half (13:15 pace)!!

UPDATE 30K - She is really kicking butt with the negative splits.  She has a shot at finishing under 5:30 if she keeps it up. She is 4:02 at 30K (13:00/pace).

I am home and hurting!  My actual time was 5 hours and 15 minutes.  I guess the splits they sent did not take into account I did not cross the start line with the first corral!  I was kinda hoping for under 5 but I am very happy with my run today.  I will update more later and do a race report but their will be a second one!!  Thanks guys!!!

I tried to keep updated on results, but for some reason, the website wouldn't load on my computer!  So thanks for keeping us posted!

Congratulations Meggan!  That is weird with the timing system not taking into account your start time!!  I was really worried when I saw your first split and was telling my wife this morning "Oh no! something must have happened!" - haha.  5:15 is a great time for you first marathon.  There is no better feeling in the world then turning that corner and seeing the finish line!! Just relax today and try to get out and walk a little bit tomorrow with some light stretching.  Great job!!

So just bought this triathlon handle bar set up for my bike.  I figured it was about over $350 in components for $75 and it will save me from having to buy a new bike this spring.  Thoughts or comments?

First off, Meggan, AMAZING JOB.  You are incredible, and a huge inspiration.  We are all so proud of you, and I for one am super impressed.  Keep up the good work, and listen to T2 on the recovery thing.  He's the runner of the group  :P

T2, that looks like a pretty decent deal.  I believe I have the same bar, and I love it.  One thing to be careful of, though, is the aero bars offer very little adjustability, if any at all.   I don't mind them, but some might.  the bars and arm rests are fairly close together (WAY closer than my shoulders, though my shoulders are pretty broad.  Again, good deal, and good bars.  Hope you like them!

Thanks Pete - Yeah I figured with all the components (end shifters, brakes, aero bars, handle bar) it was worth around $300?  I now just have to do a crash course on getting all the wires run and adjusted.  I am thin king I have to change my stem also? My current setup is the old tube shifters so I am looking forward to shifting in aero position.  It really made a difference especially on a hilly course like Branson where I had to constantly keep getting out of aero to shift gears.

Any big plans for the holiday weekend?

None here!  I am just hoping to be able to run at some point.  Spending Thursday with family and John is playing rugby on Friday.  Then he is working the rest of the weekend.

You deserve a great rest week!  Hope you have a good time!

Tonight after my classes, Ryan and I are driving down to Springfield, IL to see my family.  We took tomorrow off work since I know my parents were a little bummed that we can't spend the entire weekend with them like usual.  Thursday will be spent at my grandmother's house, which is only about a mile from my parents' house.  Then Friday morning we will brave the Black Friday rush, as always!  This is my favorite part of the holiday.  We leave for the wedding in Florida on Friday evening (flying out of Milwaukee though, so Friday afternoon we have to drive back to MKE from Springfield).  Wedding is Sunday, then we come back to Milwaukee on Monday, just in time for me to go to class Monday night!  Plus, I have exams to study for and a paper to write this weekend.  Super busy and super fun.

I got in a 2nd bike ride for the week this morning since I won't get to bike 'til the test next week.  And I'm hoping to get in 4 runs this weekend (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday).  We'll leave too early for shopping Friday and for the flight Monday to do anything.  I'm starting to really enjoy my runs, so I'm super pumped to get 4 runs in this weekend.  Maybe I'll try to convince my brother to run the first mile or so with me Wednesday and Thursday...

No big weight losses this week.  Not surprised with all the stress and craziness.  And lack of sleep from exams coming up.  Lots of factors in there.  But no matter what, I'm not holding back on Thanksgiving!  That is the one day I will allow myself to take in whatever I want and NOT worry about it.  I'll just be super careful on the other days.  I want my pie!

Hope everybody else is having a great shortened week!

Ran after school yesterday with a couple other teachers!  It was so nice to get outside and run and actually with people!!!  It was such a beautiful day for the week of Thanksgiving....70 degrees.  Running after school again today, but the weather is not  nearly as warm only around 50 today.

So excited to be home for Thanksgiving this year.  I have tomorrow off and spending the day with my little girl.  Who knows what the day will bring.  Thursday morning will be doing the turkey trot!!!  The day will be spent with my dad in the afternoon and my mom in the evening.  Friday I have two photography shoots, Saturday is with the family putting up christmas decorations and Sunday I have two more photography shoots.

Busy weekend, but should be fun! Happy Thanksgiving!

We brought my bike inside and put it in the basement on the trainer.  Free daylight hours for me are very limited now.  What do you do on the trainer to survive the time?

I have been doing these workouts that are pretty tough and get your heart rate going but they are a great workoust and make the time go by fast.  Enjoy!

WORKOUT #1

ME 50 Workout

WU: 15 minutes easy

MS:
3' Zone 3
1' rest
3' Zone 3
1' rest
3' Zone 4
1' rest
3' Zone 4
1' rest
3' Zone 5

CD: 10 Minutes

WORKOUT #2

Trainer
Efficiency
45
WU: 10'
MS: These are with your shoes clipped in, and the idea is to focus on one leg at a time:

90" right leg, then 90" left leg.
Next is: 45" right, 45" left, vice versa 2x. Next:  30" left, 30" right increase cadence each 5" to maximum.
Next:  20" right, 20" left for 2'
15" right, 15" left for 1'
10" right, 10" left, for 40"
5"right, 5: left for 20"
3-4 x 1' at max cadence, RI 1'
3-4 x 15" at max cadence to spinout, RI 45"

CD: 10'

WORKOUT #3

Trainer
Isolated Leg Training (ILT)
40
WU: 10'
MS: After WU, alternate 20-60"  with 1 leg off the pedals, and up on a chair. Get a total of 7-10'  of ILT on each leg in workout. Alternate legs as you feel like it. Work this up to 95-100 rpms, and focus on eliminating dead spot at top of stroke by pushing toes forward in shoes at top. You may start out being able to only hold 75-80 RPMS but over time your cadence will increase. Hang in there!
CD: 10'

GOOD LUCK!!!

Trainer rides are when Ryan and I watch all of our DVR'ed tv shows or movies.  There is absolutely no better way to waste the time, because yes, these rides are boring!

Also, if you do Jorge's plan, a lot of time it's soooo involved that it passes the time quickly.  You really have to keep track of everything you're doing, so it doesn't seem long and grueling until after you're done!

Been sick since Sun but starting to feel more normal today.  I missed a lot so won't try to catch up on everything.

1) Congrats again Meggan!  You have made me very proud to be a part of your journey.  And that also goes for everyone on here.  You have all had a fabulous year with many astonishing accomplishments that you should all be proud of.  We have a good core group here that really pushed yourselves this year and I feel that any other group would be pretty impressed with what we have done.

2) Way to go Erica, enjoy the wedding and your turkey day food!  You've earned it!

3) T2, the bike gear sounds like a great deal.  It gives you the chance to have some good gear for a great price.  Now you can always upgrade little parts of it along the way if you choose.  I think it is destiny too since the base bar is a "T2" brand!!  Unless you are just really comfortable doing it yourself, I would take it to a shop and get a fit done (you might not necessarily need a new stem).  It makes a huge difference and you really want it set up just right since you can be in that position for a long time in the races.

4) I am much more free flowing on my trainer workouts.  I can never remember those complicated workouts.  I always warm up for 10-15min and then do a 5-10min cool down.  The middle is usually just varying intervals.  Sometimes I will ride hard/steady during the show I am watching then recover during the commercials.  Sometimes I'll flip that and spin fast during the show then go hard during the commercials (most commercial breaks are 2-3min).  I also have to get into a very hard gear and stand up once or twice otherwise I'll go numb.  I usually keep all my trainer rides between 40-60min.  I just can't do longer than that.

5) Didn't plan on this being so long.  Not too much planned this week.  Got 3 family members coming over tomorrow and I am cooking.  Might do a little shopping on Fri but nothing major (I need to find me some good deals for dress/work clothes).  That is really about it.  I hope to get back to the workouts, but I am going to wait until after thanksgiving to make sure I am back to full strength.

6) Happy Thanksgiving and have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

I have no problem watching tv but I still need some kind of workout on the trainer.  I will check into Jorge's plan.

Take this with a grain of salt, because I do all my trainer sessions with my tri club, but I find that I like the complicated workouts much more, because you have a goal.  If I go in with nothing really planned, it's too easy to just do some light spinning as opposed to really get working.  Also, depending on how you are training, it's nice to have a planned goal (sub LT, LT Build, unload, etc) for a workout.  Makes it important to decide what your workout is going to be!

Have a happy thanksgiving, everyone!  I hope you all have a great day, and a nice relaxing day off!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!

I am thankful for having such a supportive group like you guys.  Look how far you all have brought me since April.  So thank you so much for motivating me to be so much happier about my life.

I got 7 good solid miles in this morning and 3.5 yesterday (check my log, it was AWFUL).  I'm eating a ton, but who cares?  It's Thanksgiving, so I'm not going to be paranoid about gaining just a little back so long as I am getting my workouts in.  And, I'm at almost 40 miles this month.  My goal is to get to 50!!!  And since we're going to Florida for our next 2 running days, no weather will stop us.  Super excited.

Wedding Sunday!  Ohhh man, here goes nothing.
