Well...Having a lazy morning...Just watched Australia play with the Aussie cousins who came in yesterday. Haha. I'm tired...maybe I need a nap.

I prepared dinner last night for tonight. Lasagna! Yaaaa!

Got to take my bike in to the race site today and go to the race briefing this afternoon.

My days never go as planned.

I took the kids this morning and headed to the park. The kids could play on the playground while I ran on a softer surface than the roads I normally run on. We got there about 8:45 and I forgot today was Community Day, they were having a big party at part of the park. Festivities for the day included a 5k run. The kids and I went to the opposite end of the park from the party, there's a playground there in the woods so it's shaded. We saw a couple of runners and I asked what time the race started. They told me 9:00. I was hoping it started at 8:00. The one guy told me to just run anyway, they were all runners they understand if I was just there to get a workout in.

I thought about it, but I didn't want to be in the way of anyone running a race. I've been pretty busy lately, too, so I decided I was just going to play on the playground with my kids. We heard the start of the race and I told them when we saw runner's we should cheer. So we did. There weren't a lot of runner's, probably less than 40. As they ran by though we'd clap and cheer for them. We had several waves and thank you's, which was nice.

When we got home the kids went to grandma's and the husband and I went and got groceries and Father's Day gifts. He just headed to his nephews to bale hay. I was going to run but it's 93 and super sunny out. I only need to run 3 miles, but 3 miles in 93 degree heat with no shade is not my idea of a good time. I'll have to find some time later this evening to get my run in when it's cooler.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Happy Saturday Ghoulies! This morning, Chula Vista, Ca saw a creature long-thought extinct in these parts. Tom out for a weekend workout! I only did a little over 22 miles on the bike but it felt really good and even though I was solo I'm very happy with the pace I set at this point in my life.

The rest of the weekend I need to clean (imagine that), do laundry, try to go rent a wetsuit, get some speed laces, and get in a good run tomorrow. I'm thinking about 6 miles, but we'll see. My 4.5 miler yesterday went really well so hopefully I can keep it going.

Take care everyone, and I'll try to check back in later.

Bill - your journey so far this month is nothing less than astounding. Keep up the great work and enjoy the living heck out of that hot tub!

Here's one for you. We are in the middle of June, no?

My son asked me today if there was a Santa Claus. We had a long talk. He's a bit disappointed, but now he knows he can help still make it fun for the younger kids.

Why do they have to grow up?

kns57 - 2010-06-18 5:28 PM Planted zuchinni, yellow squash, red peppers and green peppers today in with my flowers.  Do you think the neighbors won't notice that there is a vegtable garden growing in my front yard?  There is a law that says no vegetable gardens in your front yard, but several neighbors have tomato plants in theirs.  I've got one tomato plant that is growing upside down and two others in pots that I can quickly move.  All shade in the back yard so the only place I can try is in the front.

I bet you can bribe them with a fresh zucchinni or squash.  Unless they are plant haters like Ann.

Yum yum. Those plants do start out with flowers...you could just play dumb and pretend you didn't know that veggies would grow! :D

Awesome!  LOL

That is tough.  I can't remember ever having to talk to my kids about whether or not there was a Santa Claus.  He still shows up here, even though they know it is us.  LOL  It does not seem like Xmas without the santa gifts under the tree.

My parents still do this...I'm 22 and my bro is 19...haha..."Love Santa"...

I figured it out for myself when I was probably in grade 1-2...I don't remember ever asking my parents...I think I just rationalized it to myself somehow...hmmm...I figured out there was no tooth fairy/easter bunny...and I figured there must not be a Santa.

Santa comes to my house, and to my parent's house--and he leaves goodies in stockings for us at both houses! And the easter bunny still comes to our house--and came to my parents until a few years ago as well. I asked my mom when I stopped believing in Santa--she looked at me, cocked her head to the side and said, "don't you still?" I looked around nervously, and she continued "doesn't he still bring you presents at my house?", again, I gave nervous looks at my sister and husband. Then my mom says "we always told you that Santa would bring you presents as long as you believed in him." I agreed that I totally believe still. Totally. And he still brings me goodies in my stocking at moms house.

Morning Ghoulies.  I really wanted to sleep in this morning but it just wasn't happening.  Finally gave in and fed the beasts, emptied the dishwasher and did a load of darks.  I'm going to head out for a run in a bit.  My big excitement for the morning will be a trip to the farmer's market.  It's the first day of the season and I'm hoping for strawberries.  This afternoon is the final game of spring soccer.  I think I've only played in 2 or 3 games this year due to *stuff* so I'll probably just hang and cheer.  Oh, and participate in the post game beers.  Hoping everyone is having a good weekend.  Channeling good thoughts to PAMelindy for her race this morning.

Guess you guys are all busy training or hanging out with the dads.  Happy Fathers Day, btw!  Well, I should have run when I got up rather than messing around with laundry.  It was hot and humid out there. Thank goodness the water bubbler in the park was working as I had sucked down every ounce I had and needed to refill for the run back home.  My cardio is still carp as I've been goofing off the last 3 or 4 weeks, so there was a lot of walking to keep the HR in zone 3.  Oh well. It is what it is.

Farmers market was a win, except I didn't score any strawberries.  I did get peas, radishes, lettuce and tomatoes.  Also picked up fresh eggs and a nice, local cheese.  I had a tomato sandwich for lunch.  A little early for GREAT tomatoes, but these are still pretty darn good. Dinner will be farfalle pasta with fresh peas, and a little crumbled goat cheese.

Out for now.
