jobaxas - 2013-02-09 1:14 AM Day 10 Short after yesterday this is the view of my OWS course did 3km here today

That look like a beautiful place for a swim and a run both.

You are very very lucky.

#111- Did 2 hours on trainer then went out and tried to not break my neck for 30 min of "ice running" (it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be).  No OWS here, pool only, and yesterday I had the luxury of watching the guy the next lane over hock up something greenish yellow that was about the size of a ping pong ball (slight exaggeration).

I am getting very impatient for the spring.

Well I broke the streak yesterday, made it to run #40 anyway. Not sure what's going on with my right leg but its just feeling off, never had this issue before, looking at a leg muscle diagram it looks like the Tensor Fasciae latae muscle that's on the outside of the thigh. I was really hoping this thing would ease up so I could keep it going but no luck with that...I'll be back though!

Day 445 with a 21.4 mile run. Feeling a bit yucky the past day or two, sore throat and achey but no fever. The last two miles were painfull today but I gutted them out. I managed 80.7 miles for the week.

#154....11 miles.

I've been at a swim meet for one of my kids all weekend and just felt like crap when I started. Too much sitting, too much popcorn.  I told myself I'd just do the 4 minimum and save the long run for another day.  I felt great after 4 so I just went on and did the 11....longest run of the streak.  I was looking for a 5 mile per day average this month and I'm at 5.3 after 10 days so I'm feeling good.  39 miles this week is the biggest week of the streak as well.....it's coming along.

I don't think there is any way I would have done the 11 today if not for what running every day has given my legs.  Once I got into a groove it was just running as usual.

ART from the Chiropractor  when I feel my hips getting tight, maybe once every 3 weeks or so, and I stretch my calves at the end of a run for about 5 minutes, and that's about it.  The only other thing I have to do is take some ibuprophen if a storm front comes through because my arthritic hip starts shooting pain.

I hate running, I am slow and the impact seems to be brutal on my legs. Would 30/30 be a disaster or is it just what I need?

thanks peeps!

I have actually found the impact to be less?  So long as I keep the distance short to begin with.  Be aware of niggles that can turn to injury.  Why not give it a go, start slow and short.....

Psychologically I found it to be fantastic, it becomes a habit, the norm if you like.  I get pretty pizzed off if I can't get a run in!  Last night it was nearly 10pm when I decided I had to go run!

Yes just take it easy pace and miles at first, you'll be amazed at how you body will adapt and may even find you like running after all.

Day 446 and I turned the heat up in the garage to 75 degrees and ran 8 miles on the treadmill to try and sweat this crud out of me. It failed now I have a headache on top of everything else. I was going to run 10 miles but cut it 2 miles short.

#1...3 miles! I took two days to rest up my leg. I struggled with my decision to not run for two days but really think it was for the best, now I get to try and start this thing up again! Leg felt better today just gonna keep it slower for a while.

Nice....stay with it.  It takes some time, but if you stick to it you may be surprised at what happens.

Welcome!

Day 449 and one of those days I am glad I am a runner. I ran 15 yesterday and the last few were on some very tired legs and a bit of a struggle. Today I planned on running about 8 at an easy pace but after one mile I felt great and as the miles went by each one was faster than the other and I had not intention of running this pace today but is just felt good and eay. At mile 7 I decided to let it rip and ran 5.3 more mile at a bit faster than marathon pace but not quite half marathon pace. I felt like I could've held this pace for another 10 miles but you know live to fight another day I stoped my run at 12.3 miles. I ended u with an overall average pace of 8:12 and my last 3.3 miles were at a 7:38 pace. I love being a runner.

#116- working through a minor (thankfully just minor!!) calf strain.  Blew off a planned 10 mile run this morning and did an easy 20 min tonight.  Been keeping it to a minimum for last 3 days, felt okish today.  May try low intensity more distance treadmill run tomorrow and bail if I start to tighten up.
