Since we're talking bike fits.  Here was mine.  I may need to lessen the aggressiveness for IMTX.  I feel like it's constricting my breathing a bit.

Morning everyone.  Still freezing here in CT.  4 degrees without wind chill right now.

Is it warm somewhere right now?

Yes, it is in the 70s where I am, and I ran this morning in the beauty of 54 degree weather!

DDVMM - 2013-01-24 6:32 AM I had planned for this early morning of training. Got up at 4:20 to get to the gym to swim then run. I go out in our single digit temperatures to drive to the gym and the heater on the pool isn't working. The guy says to me that I can go in but it might be a bit cold - that was an understatement. Kelly - you know I hate not following your training, but there was no way I was stepping a foot in that pool....Ugh, what a day already! I hope it gets better! Got my run in though!

I don't know if I have suggested these before:

http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/15909.htm?color=29381

But swim cords are a fantastic way to get a swim workout if you can't get to the pool / are traveling, etc.  They're really good for working on swim strength as well.

Thank you for providing this link.  How would I go about determining the correct resistance for me since you cannot give me a personal recommendation?

Would I have just used the resistance bands in a 'swim motion' for the allotted time? I have different resistance bands at home very similar to those.

Ha!  I told Scott he had nice guns in the last mentor group too.

So Scott, I'm assuming the one on the left is the before, on the right is the after. Wow, what a difference!  Did it take you a while to get used to the change.

Kuma - 2013-01-24 5:54 PM Here's a big shout out to Karen, who recommended a pool for me to use while I have been in Atlanta this week. I went by there today and had a great workout. It was a really nice place - Midtown Fitness Center. Thanks, Karen, for helping keep me on schedule!

Aw thanks, I'm glad it worked out.

Now if I could just get myself in the pool...

So I think I figured out the early vertical forearm...So for the feel, I felt more in my lats and focused on keeping my elbow up. Does this sound right?

It depends on your arm strength.  Generally I don't think arm band should be too heavy (its more about mimicking correct technique).  For most women I would recommend the yellow.  If you are particularly strong in the upper body I would recommend the green.

kidtri33 - 2013-01-23 10:14 PMJust thought I would share this little milestone. I changed my first tire! I put on a trainer tire instead of eating up my zaffiro's. It wasn't as bad as I suspected. Thank goodness for youtube and levers! Of course what I really need is a trainer rim so I don't have to change tires out in between. If anyone know where I can get a really cheap tire and cassette let me know.
Awesome! Hopefully you won't have to use this knowledge too often! As for a trainer rim, I'm sure you could probably get something online, and probably even a little cheaper, but maybe also consider buying from your LBS. They would definitely appreciate the business, and it might also buy some goodwill to get them http://home.trainingpeaks.com/tohelp out with bike service somewhere down the line. Ok, off soapbox now.

Speaking of cassettes.  If you are changing a cassette, you should also change the chain.  Cassettes and chains break in together and if you change one without the other they're not going to mess well and you're going to get noise, friction and will have to replace them sooner than you would if you changed them together -- they end up not "meshing" properly and they'll wear out sooner.

Keep practicing, Larkin!  I need to do the same because I am slooooow when it comes to tire changes.  This is something we can absolute prepare for with lots of practice!!

That is funny you say that because I actually got to do it twice because I put the tire on backwards. I didn't realize it until I saw the arrow right before I put it back on haha.

So does anyone have those mornings that you wake up completely zapped of energy but you still think working out will bring your energy levels up but it just doesn't happen? This morning was one of those mornings. I tried to bike this morning even though it called for a bike but all the melted snow would have meant ice this morning ad I didn't want to take the chance. So I hopped on the trainer and nothing was there. I tried for 10-15 mins and nothing. Only thing I can point it to is possibly sleep, I only got about 6-7 broken last night but it wasn't the first night I have done it on that type of sleep. Trust me I know that is not optimal and I do my best to get 7-8 just some days it doesn't happen.

So I hit some core and yoga.  Now I'm at my first job working on my second job.

Good bike workout (seat was slightly better) followed by 40 min. run. Felt good! It was 32 degrees out, but windy so I'm not sure what the "feels like" temp was. But I was toasty warm in my lulu. There was even a little slushy rain and that wonderful "first rain on oily road" smell.

Headed to my second epidural injection this morning. Then ice, rest and email & spreadsheets for work this afternoon. Oh boy!

Oh and it's day 25 and I'm still going strong on whole30. Pretty sure I will continue after 30 days with some modifications. I feel so much better.

Up early for a speed session in the pool.  It was so balmy outside this morning that I was completely jazzed to jump in the cold pool (4 degrees without windchill).  You'd think they'd turn up the heat in that bad boy considering we're living in an ice ball, but noooooo.  Anyway, I didn't have much energy in the pool, and it was completely gone by the time I hit the weight room.  I got some great sleep last night, so I can only point to dietary changes.  I'm still dairy-free, grain-free, and sugar-free.  Only times I've strayed from this is during my longer workouts, when I've taken in some sports drink.  Generally I've felt great, but today was a different story.

Bike fit tomorrow!!!  Yippee!

I'm going to continue after 30 days as well.  I'm going to follow the Paleo for Athletes regimen 100%.

**edited to add - I hope the injection makes you feel better!

Did you know that carbs at night increase seratonin production.  So while it's a no no in many weight loss circles it does help you sleep better.

I had 2 lbs. of sweet potatoes for dinner, so that should have done it.  Maybe I needed a banana before my swim or something.  I always do the swims fasted because they're so short.

I consider anything under 3500 yards to be a short swim, btw.  Anything over 4000 and I'd take a banana.

Funny.  Anything over 1k is a long swim to me.  I have lots of long swims in my future.
