Volunteered at Danskin today. What a blast.

Tri rules kinda went out the window, but this was more about a feel good time.

Women struggling in the water, no problem, hang onto the kayak and he towed lots of them 200 yards to the finish line.

No chalk or tape for mount dismount line. Lets put up a little traffic cone on the side of the road.

Lots of women looking for ( and getting from me high 5's as they leave the swim area, and again at the start of the run just after T2.)

Had fun volunteering at the womens only Danskin Disney tri yesterday.

Got to see my friend Christina finish number 3 overall out of 1332, and beat all but one of the elites.

Swim leg 1 minute 5 seconds per hundred yards.

On a good day she is 5 foot 2 inches tall.

Water was 80 degrees in the Disney lagoon at 6 am which was race time.

Yes Disney wants everyone out of the park before it opens to the general public. No free rides for the racers or volunteers

Well, had a STINKY workout this morning.  Legs just DIDN'T want to work.  It wasn't pretty!

On a positive note, I was just looking at my logs from last year (entire year) vs this year (YTD)   I'm ahead of last year in ALL Categories!  (GO ME!)

2007 totals
Bike:4h 46m 36s  - 86 Mi
Run:22h 43m 20s  - 154.2 Mi
Swim:48h 47m 42s  - 105750 Yd
Strength:4h 10m

2008 totals
Bike:25h 08m 44s  - 409.98 Mi
Run:33h 19m 43s  - 202.61 Mi
Swim:46h 03m 53s  - 109778 Yd
Strength:11h 40m

Amazing what a little training will do.   Thanks to this Mentor group for all the help so far!  Couldn't have done it with out you all!!

Now if I could only lose the 40 plus pounds I want to lose, all would be good!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun!  Good Job for giving back to the sport!  More people need to do that.   Having been the RD for several events last year, I understand better than many how important the support is.   Can have the best planned race and venue, but without the support of people "giving back" as a volunteer or in some other way, they just don't happen!

Keep up the good work, Cash -- You inspire us all!!

Sal you look awesome.

I have ridden 57 miles in practice. I have done 4 half marathons. I can't imagine doing them back to back.

My legs hurt as bad after 57 miles as they do after a marathon.

Yes I feel that giving back to the sport is important. And something that most people don't realize, is that volunteering is FUN. I think if more people understood how fun it is, more would volunteer. Not as fun as racing, but if you aren't racing that day, its a great way to enjoy yourself and give back to a sport you love doing.

I get a really runny nose a couple of hours after I swim. The next morning its gone, but it does wake me up all night long.

Anybody else get this and have a solution.

No, but that does happen to me when I'm on the bike. While I'm on the bike. And to some degree when I'm running. I've heard neti pots are the way to go, but I wouldn't know where to get one or what to do.

If it happens to me, I tend mostly to get it after the pool.   I think it may have something to do with the Chlorine, since I sometimes will start sneezing!

Every time I swim I sneeze. It's like an obligatory chlorine sneeze. I haven't noticed it since the pool I swim at started using the UV system, and decreased the chlorine.

Swimming makes me sneeze.  It also makes me hungry enough to want to eat my arm off and it makes my hair crunchy.  Other than that, it's great .

You don't like to swim Mila?   Gee -- I'd have never guessed it

Maybe if you had a pink swimsuit and swim cap!    ---  I'd paint a tiara on the swim cap for ya if ya wanted it!

Did a short reverse sprint today. 5k run, 8.5 mile bike 100 meter swim.

Finished in hour 3 minutes in 91 degree heat. Happy with my effort.

Best friend broke his collarbone on the bike portion, which is a bummer. His 3rd and probably last tri.

Now what makes you think I don't have a pink swimsuit, swim cap and goggles?  However, I prefer to swim with a skull and crossbones on my swim cap because I am fierce like that.  I am considering a swimsuit that says princess on it, though .

They didn't give me a pink tiara. Well I guess if you only finish 8th in your age group out of 19 and 88 out of 359 you dont get tiara's.

Was at the hospital during the awards ceremony anyway.

Happy with the effort though. Finished 12 minutes outside of podium times for the age group, but not much I could have done to be faster yesterday. Maybe if I go from 175 pounds to 145 pounds I could medal. Or get better parents. I don't think any amount of training would improve my time 12 minutes.

We need evidence of pink swimsuit and googles!
