tri808 - 2010-04-13 12:02 AM Had another tough masters class.  I literally almost threw up a tuna sandwich in the first 10 minutes.
I can't eat within 2.5 hours of a really intense workout...especially seafood.

I was just thinking 'bout ya, Mel! How is Dad doing (as well as you and the rest of the fam?)
I am doing quite well...I've had some nice distractions in school and in a SO.

My dad is continuing to decline.  I will be going over tomorrow.  My mom has said that he isn't trying to communicate anymore.  She is looking into a home for him...but if he is shutting down we may be able to care for him at home.  It has been his stubbornness that is the most difficult to deal with.

sorry to hear this Mel. Thinking of you.

billsorg - 2010-04-15 7:43 AM Good morning, A-team!
I managed to tumble out of bed this morning and get in a 40 min trainer ride.  The weather here is absolutely gorgeous (it will be 75 and sunny today), so I'm going for a run outside at lunchtime.  I got my taxes done with less than 24 hours to spare... WOOT!  Have a great day, team!
Bill

I also got mine done yesterday! And I ran today!

TElenor - 2010-04-15 4:15 PM Hi everyone,

Wow are there ever a lot of posts!  Not sure if I'll ever get caught up.

A bit of unfortunate news: I had a run-in with my ski pole this past Sunday while backcountry skiing.  Sadly the ski pole won and I had to go into an ENT doc this morning to get my broken nose straightened.  The verdict: no exercise for a week, and only moderate exercise for the following several weeks while the bones set.  So....looks like my April Challenge goals are right out of the window!  Didn't I see something about getting removed from the challenge due to injury?  Seeing as how I'm only part way through my goals it would probably be best...

At least it was just my nose, and not my eye!  At least it isn't right in the middle of race season!  These are the things I keep telling myself...

Hope the rest of you are staying healthy!

oh ouch! Yep you can ask Dee to remove you but stay in the thread as a cheerleader!!

Shoeless - 2010-04-15 9:10 PM Wahoo! I had the nicest evening of training. First I went for a bike ride, 9.5 miles, then 3.2 on the ground. Beautiful outside. Plus I had a swim this morning, so I'd say I'm full up. Is everybody in bed already?

Nice!

Shoeless - 2010-04-15 5:04 PM Here comes the vent that I swore off this morning; though it is in disguise for now: If you got an ad in your race bag that said another race was open for registration on a certain day, and you went to the website but there was no link, would you scrap the idea because you felt they were too disorganized to put on a good race, or be persistent and check back? Real vent: People who have no passion for triathlon, and have never been to a triathlon, should not be allowed to attempt to host one. AND they certainly shouldn't be given authority over those who have experience and passion. I want to scream!

How frustrating!  Yell  That's really annoying when people are put in charge of things they have no idea how to do!

I had a pretty good tempo run tonight.  Wow, I think the best way to get faster is to run with people who are faster than you!

I met up with some friends for my run, but I was having a hard time keeping up with them, so they dropped me after about a 1/2 mile.  Then I guess they decided they didn't want to drop me anymore so they turned back and found me again and ran the rest of the way with me.  I definitely ran the 2nd half of my tempo run faster than the first half so that I wouldn't get re-dropped!  I don't think I would have pushed myself to go that fast if I were just running alone.

I have not figured out how to benefit from running with a group. I just mentally give in if they seem to be faster than me. Great job pushing yourself!

Good morning team! Hubby comes home late tonight...can't wait! Not sure what is on tap for today, training wise. Old Navy is having a sale so I am heading there with some friends. My neck is still really stiff, wondering if it is my new pillow...I sure hope not I spent too much $ on it! It is one of the memory foam ones.

At the time you sent this, I was sound asleep in the La-Z-Boy!  The math looked something like this:

Double workout day + Glass of wine after dinner = "sawing logs" by 9:15pm

kimk - 2010-04-13 10:33 PM For once I am glad we were not tooo chatty! I am whiped out...off to bed I go, tomorrow is another long day with cycle, body pump, yoga and a water class, I will also get my swim in, then I am meeting up with a friend at the LBS while she gets her fit. should be a good time. Sweet dreams A team!

Ugh!  I still need to get my bike into the LBS for a tuneup and to get my gear shifter fixed.  I keep putting it off because it'll be a few days that I won't be able to get my drainer ride in.  I'm quite the procrastinator!

sounds like Bill needs a good kick in the arse!

Understatement of the century! Embarassed  Come hell or high water, I'm getting that bike to the LBS on Saturday!

Kim, I don't have a memory foam pillow, but we did get a memory foam bed about 5 years ago.  I remember when we got the mattress, they told us that to give it at least a month.  It could take the body that long to adjust to it or something?  But man, once it did I was in heaven!  I can't sleep at all in a regular bed without being crippled the next morning.  Maybe the pillows are the same way?

LOL, Bill!  This is one reason I haven't given in and bought either a more comfortable couch or recliners.  Without my really uncomfortable couch, sadly this would be me most nights and I'd never get anything done!

My normal rest day is on Friday, but I decided to take it yesterday since my husband got home late and I had LOTS of cleaning to do before my in laws come to visit this weekend.  I still need to vacuum but should have plenty of time to get my run in!

I spent $80 on one of those memory foam pillows and I hated it.  Gave it to a friend about a year ago and she swears by it and said it made all her neck stiffness go away.  Whatev.

Happy Friday, A-Team!  No morning workout today.  I'm heading to the gym at 11:30 for a swim and some racquetball.  The rain that had been predicted for today looks like it's going to miss us, so I'll have my daughter's softball game tonight.  This weekend will be filled with kids sports and loads of yardwork.  5 yards of mulch is being delivered tomorrow morning.  Have a great day!

Thanks!!  I guess the real trick is that you should find people who are just slightly faster than you so that you're struggling to keep up with the chance of getting dropped at the end (rather than in the first 5 min like I was!)  I was lucky my friends decided just to make theirs a "fun run" and run "slow" with me - even though I was STILL struggling to keep up even when they came back for me and slowed down!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-16 8:19 AM Just a quick drive by this morning.  Our office is closed because they have a tax year end party and they don't want to make everyone come in hungover - LOL

So I got up with my daughter, saw her off to school, and promptly fell back to sleep for 2 more hours.

Going to fuel up and head out on the bike I think.  Time to clear some cobwebs from my head and body!

"A" Team have a great day and I will see you sometime this weekend around here!

Have a nice ride!  That's pretty sweet you guys get the day off!
