The "Gone Nutty" varieties, which both contain a peanut butter filling, pack a sugary punch -- the peanut butter flavor is topped with a sprinkling of sugar crystals and the frosted chocolate flavor features a frosted chocolate crust. I will be all over the frosted PB!! OK, this just inspired me to ask my baker-friend/work wife to try and do a home made twist on a pop tart. I've seen recipes for them. |

Any other distance and I'd pull the trigger but I massively respect the M Yeah, you're right. I vaguely remember this now. Hate to say it, but ... natch. It's not so much that you need a training break sometime; it's that you don't need to do a marathon to gauge where you're at or for training purposes nor would you be in a fantastic position to train for it as an A race. |

K sounds good, I am happy with that. I have just had a hard time hitting the M times literally all my other race distances predict. Then again, the course clearly has something to do with it.
Finally, IF the B.A.A. opens up Boston 2014 to all (which I am not saying they will, I am just saying IF) I think it's time you start marathon training and DO IT with me. |

And make sure to ease back into it for sure...easy mile here, easy mile there. Don't run until it hurts. rut roh. that all sounds ... uh ... wise. Since they haven't been able to do anything, the PT has been very non-specific, and is only quad-strengthening exercises to stabilize the patella. It doesn't seem very compelling to me. They taped my knee for the first week, and took the tape off after I didn't feel it was doing anything. We'll see what they do/say tomorrow. |

Had a routine Dr visit this morning--the Dr has taken up running. We spend more time discussing races and the pros & cons of various shoes than he does examining me.....but hey at my age I am not having any more babies so he doesn't have much else to do. Yes my doc is an avid cyclist. He totally gets me and thinks I'm amazing for considering an IM!- gotta love that. |

Without getting into the details, a rough summary:1. Did whole swim workout with suit on inside out2. Had to take cat to ER3. FIL was staying at our house last night before he left for hike and was borrowing Js iPad. He decided to look at the pictures and saw a umm err scantily clad photo of myself. 1.Suit inside out only noticable if that crotch gusset is white then it's hilarious! 2.Poor puddy cat. 3.oh my GOD that's hilarious. |

Regardless, I would be very consistent with that quad strengthening and then, the same advice I gave above. I'm not thinking the walking is really going to do anything for you right now while you are trying to let it heal (from whatever it is.) I think, as Ben said, adding the walking while you are working on building your base mileage is a great idea. |

Last night it was freezing cold, dark and raining - getting off the couch to the pool was a big ask. I told myself, go to the pool do 15mins, if it still feels crappy you can bail. So I went - it was packed. Eleven in my lane. Crazy butterfly and backstroke with that going on. How I didn't get knocked unconscious by one guy who is a middle of the lane swimmer (it's the OWS types, they don't have any sense of space) Anyway workout below. I love Johnny. Warm up with fins 200m Free 3x100m IM (25m fly, 25m back, 25m breast, 25m free) Main Set no Fins 6x200m (2 sets of) 6x100m (3 sets of) 6x50m (3 sets of ) BOOM! |
