The one time I did one, it bombed. IMHO, a mentor group of more than 6 (including the mentor) is about the ideal size. You get bigger than that, its hard to keep track of everyone. I also think that before signing up for a mentor group that mentees have to decide a) how serious they are about it and b) set realistic goals for what they want to achieve. People tend to set VERY lofty goals sometimes and don't quite know what they're getting into. I think thats part of being the mentor - its your job to help balance out someones enthusiasm. My experience with the groups is that there are always a few who drop off no matter how hard you try to keep them going with inspires/Pms and in the thread. Also having a few chatty personalities helps - especially in my case where I am not online in the same timezone so cannot stir up discussion 24/7. Ive been a mentor and a mentee and been incredibly fortunate to have had great groups! So Im hoping this will be no different |

When you've played as long as I have, its easy to lapse back into old playing patterns and the only way you grow is to push yourself. But hell, I live in California, and I can either be inside on the 'Net or I can out DOING stuff. Saturday, if my leg holds up, I'm doing the century in Bike Around the Buttes. Sunday, if I'm not dead, The Blonde and I will go to the beach. I also have actually had TWO - two - in a row positive phone conversations with X2 about the children, as well as positive emails. That's really never happened since we split. Sounds good - go an enjoy! Especially since its the summer months! Honestly if I wasnt on here during work time I would be on BT a lot less than I am.

Well, I've been pushing my boundaries of being on during work (its after hours now and I haven't left yet) because staying OFF BT the past few months - during the day - got me my best work review in YEARS and my short-term goal was to get management to leave me the hell alone and let me do my job without interference. So far, I'm getting to that goal.
Good call - I would not be on here as much as I am if it interfered with my job! |

If we go to one with Tidal pools that will work out well, because that means I can sit with my legs in cold Pacific water - its in the mid 50s this time of year - and soak some of the soreness out. I plan on icing my left knee after I get home. I love swimming for recovery! |
