Today I am feeling dizzy and nauseous off and on, and fatigued. I haven't been very consistent in my workouts, so I'm thinking maybe it's from the lactic acid my body's not used to? Sounds kinda dumb now that I typed it out. What do you guys think? How has your food intake been with the increase in workouts? I am not a scientist but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before - so I am guess you are just fatigued - maybe LA maybe just worn out and your body is not really happy with you. Eat a lot and take it easy and see if that helps! I'm going to agree with Bill on this one. I know it's shocking isn't it? ![]() When I increased my workouts I didn't increase my calorie intake and I felt how you described. Try eating a bit more throughout the day, and sipping some more liquids and see how you feel. Thanks you two. I am currently lounging on the couch watching cartoons with the boy, sipping on a lemonade. ![]() |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Ghoulies. I just got back from the hospital with my wife and she's settling in for a well deserved nap. She was a trooper and came out of surgery MUCH better than the last time. She's still really sore and very tired, but I'm hopeful that this will work out well. Thanks to all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your well wishes, thoughts, and prayers. I appreciate it more than I can possibly express. |

I have bad feet, I wear custom orthotics and I pronate. Last fall when I was going to PT, I had 2 PT's tell me I need a stability shoe. I used the little shoe finder on Runner's World, and it recommends a stability shoe. In the fall I got a stability shoe. After I started running in it I started having knee and foot pain. I stopped using that shoe and got a cushioning shoe (osteoarthritis and all that good stuff). The knee and foot pain went away. Last Saturday I went to a speciality running store and had my gait analyzed, they recommended a stability shoe, so that's what I got, a different kind than last time. I started having knee and foot pain again yesterday on my run. Should I stick with the often recommended stability shoe and hope my body learns to love it? Or Should I listen to my aches and pains and go back to a cushioning shoe? I would err on the "listen to your body" side of the coin. That said, if your PT says you need something for your pronation you should consider that as well. How does it work if you wear orthotics with your cushioning shoe? When I wore the orthotics with the cushioning shoes I had no pain in my joints at all. Ann(e) I am not a specialist but I am thinking that orthotics with stability = too much stability Cushioning + orthotics = stability that you need. That is how I see it. FWIW I agree with Bill. I wore my orthotics with neutral shoes and did fine when I run. But I didn't want the extra trouble of making sure everything was in the right place when I put them on in transition. So a running store fit me with new shoes w/o the orthotics. They are stability shoes. So far I have no trouble when I wear them (up to 8-9 miles or two hours). For the rest of my day, I still wear my orthotics with neutral shoes. Works for me. I've thought about trying to run without the orthotics, especially since I have the stability shoes. I get a lot of blisters on my feet and I'm sure it's because of the rubbing on the orthotic. I have a short 3 mile run tomorrow, maybe I'll give it a try. FWIW, I agree that listening to your body is the best choice. I wear custom orthotics for running and every day use. I also had issues with blisters at first, but the orthotist (is that what they're called????) has adjusted them several times until there isn't a problem. If they won't fit in the shoe, I don't buy them. I have a closet full of Prada that haven't been worn since I had foot/knee problems. And don't ask. I'm not getting rid of the Italian shoes. Just in case. |
