I just signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon. It's October 31st. AWESOME! I have friends who've run it and they've loved it. I can see why you're inspired for this particular one. You will do great! On a related note, I'm seriously considering this for my first marathon - maybe even next year if I'm employed... I've heard about that one, too. It is supposed to be pretty good. I'm not far from DC. I know people who have run the MCM and say it is just AWESOME! My sister and her family aren't far so I can crash there before and after. I'll be training for my half on Sept 5, the timing just felt right. That sounds like a perfect plan, Ann. MC is definitely one of those "experience" races and I would love to do it as well if I ever move out East. I signed up for 3 tri's, 3 and 3 hm's this year and never thought twice about it. Signing up for a full marathon I'm sitting here now thinking "I hope I can do this." 26.2 miles is a bit intimidating. BUT I WILL DO IT!!! Yes you will. Hey Queen, can you please break out your sceptre and ordain this proclamation to be true??? I DECLARE IT THUSLY. GHOULIE ANN WILL DO A FULL MARATHON. THUS SAYS THE QUEEN, scepter in hand. stacieb |

I'm just thinking that if enough people split it, it should be doable. Considering the race is on my son's 13th birthday I'm actually pretty doubtful I'll be able to do it. Not giving a solid "No" but it's doubtful. Just food for thought, what would you guys think about a San Diego Half Mary/Mary the following weekend (the same race I did this year)? Well... I've never been to San Diego, and I like to visit new places, and if it means I get to see Ghoulie Tom, I'm in. I don't care where I run, as long as I get to run, or sherpa, pretty much just get out of PA in the winter. It will be right before my birthday though so someone will have to buy me a birthday drink in SD. Look at that, I'm not hard to get along with at all! Name the drink, and I'll find the bar that serves it best! find a bar that makes/serves a WHITE SANGRIA, and i'll never leave San Diego. just saying. stacie I make the best white sangria you have ever tasted. Bar none!! Come on down and I'll prove it. After my lottery disappointment, I started looking at other fall marathons last night and MCM jumped out. It's close enough, lots of energy, flat and then I saw ANN was doing it. So, I whipped out the AmX and signed up. So whadda ya think? Ann & Kim chasing some sweet marine booty all around DC this fall. Very cool! I found that hear doing the Marines Marathon for your first time any time is a great experience. I am looking forward to it. Very much. Oh, and fixed that for 'ya. I am game to find out. White sangria is easy peasy. You get a large bottle or tow regular bottles of your favorite white (or blush wine). Get a boat load of fruit chopped up- lemons, limes (not too many of these), apples, white plums, white grapes, star fruit, kiwi- what ever strikes your fancy. Chop them and save as much juice as possible. Put them all in a LARGE container with the juice. Add some fruit juice to make it a liquid. I use peach nectar or pear nectar or white grape juice. Mix all of this together. (here is the tough part) You have to let it sit for hours in the fridge. Really, hours. It is best to have a spare bottle of wine to help you wait it out. Some people add brandy, some club soda. I don't like my sangria to bubble (that is for champagne). The brandy is okay but it is easy to get too much. I also sometimes freeze the grapes to use as ice to keep it cool in the summer. Adding ice is a severe no no. There you go. |

The plan was to run home from the school after the conferences. 6.5 miles, not a problem. About 2 miles into the run I had to call home for them to come get me. The winds were soooooo strong at times I felt I was going backwards. Things were whipping through the air, I had stuff flying into my eyes, I was getting stung on the arms and legs by I have no idea what, and I was watching a storm, complete with lighting coming across the horizon. I got another mile in before they got to me. So I only ran 3 miles today. I have no doubt under better conditions I could have gone all 6.5, which gives me a little more confidence for my long run on Sunday, and my MH in 24 days. Depending on the weather we may take the kids and go to the college pool after dinner. |

I know its late but, my logs filled out and I think I've got plenty of time for meet these goals. Ryan Well our group is more of a group and less of a challenge. We have been together since we were put on the same challenge team in October. The group of us here just sort of clicked and have stayed together. Every month we pick a goal to work for, more or less. We are less interested in logs, and more interested in the spirit of each individual... and margarita's. So we are less of a challenge group than the others. There is a Team A and Team B right now that are the actual challenge groups. I'm not sure what the platform is this month but if you contact D001 she usually runs the groups and could put you on a team if you ask. The challenges generally start the beginning of the month. Usually the last week of a month you will see something here in the challenge forum about the next challenge. Edited by ironannekidd 2010-04-08 7:34 PM |
