It's March 27th...  3.5 months out.  I've gotta pick up my run volume, I know that.  Right now, I'm doing pretty much 2 runs a week.  I am going to pick that up to 4/week in January.  My coach gave me a plan, so we'll see how it goes.

I did it Pete!  Did 2.3mi at an easy pace just to get the feel back.  Feels good to have done it.

So how is the challenge going Debbe?

I am about done with my PT sessions for my knee.  PT has determined that it is an issue with a tight hamstring and that it can be monitored and controlled with stretching.  I've got 2 visits this week and then 1 each the last 2 weeks of Dec.  She said that I should be done after that.  I will just need to keep an eye on it and continue my stretching routine.  I can run but need to slowly build back up again.  If I feel it coming back then I will just have to back off on the running.  Not really what I want to hear but it is better than some type of actual structural injury.

I brought my running gear to work today so I can run right after.  No going home first and coming up with an excuse not to run.

I know you can do it, T1!  You will be back and going strong in no time.  Make sure you follow through with the stretching because if you don't, it won't get better.

I want to apologize in advance for this whine-heavy post.  (Yes, I would like some cheese with that...)

So welcome winter in Wisconsin.  I missed my first workout in a long time yesterday because the snow was up to my knees when we woke up!  Ryan braved it, but I'm just not that good yet.  So, I figure I'll get extra studying in then, right?  Ha.  Our power went out at 8am because of the storm.  It came on for a brief moment at noon, then it was back off again until almost 9pm.  Sure, I can study by flashlight, but that helps me very little when I need to write a paper and use my notes on my laptop!  I sat in my car in the basement garage of our condo with my laptop plugged in there.  So I hope my battery is okay.

Then this morning, my darn bus was late, and I waited out in the freezing cold for 40 minutes because there was no way I was going to be able to drive.  The roads are still terrible, and I avoid driving if at all possible in this weather.  So I'm still frozen solid, 2 hours later.

Now, I'm at this awful thing I call my "job" even though my boss makes my life miserable.  He made me cry again last week!  I'm going to push through the holidays to have a little extra income, but I cannot wait to get out of this.  I THINK I have another (unpaid, but more career-focused) job lined up for the spring. *crosses fingers*

Lastly, I still have a 15 page paper due Thursday at 5pm and my Amateur Sports Law exam Wednesday at 8am.

I WILL NOT drop any more workouts.  It stresses me out entirely too much now...

*rant over*  Thanks for letting me vent.  I needed it.

Erica - Just from my perspective it sounds like that vent was justified!  And there is plenty of cheese in Wisc so I think you are ok!   I don't envy that weather.  Best of luck with the paper and finals.

I am setting a little mini goal for myself:

I will reach 400 running miles for the year.

I am currently at 375, which means I need 25 more miles.  If I can run 3 days per week that gives me 8 runs by the end of the year.  That means I only need about 3mi per run to make it.

My other goal is to start the new year at or under 200lbs.

I will be checking in on you!  I was hoping to hit 1000 for the year but I will end up being about 25 short!

T2 and I have challenged each other to do some type of workout every day the rest of this week.  Doesn't have to be something big every day but it does have to be something.  If anyone else wants to commit then pipe up!

I am just about to leave work to do a 40min PT session.  I am still sore from Friday's session!

I disagree that there is plenty of cheese available in Wisconsin since most available cheese is worn on their heads.

Sorry - as a true "FIB" I had to throw that in

Well considering I haven't done anything since my long run on Saturday, not for lack of trying, I will be in on this one.  I have hills tonight, a tempo run tomorrow night, a run with my daughters running clinic on friday...not sure what I'll be doing saturday, but does christmas shopping count as a workout??  and Sunday will be my long run again.

One of my running mates and I have been working on mileage goals all year, the big one being the 1000KM one, but we hit that early and have been upping it, so now I have to get in 50KM before the end of the year...don't know if it is a big enough challenge, so may up it again

I was wondering the same thing T1, did a quick search on acronym.com and came up with some possibilities:

Fill-In-The-Blank
Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona
Fish in A Barrel
Federazione Italiana Bocce (Italian Bocce Federation)
Flying Inflatable Boat
Forward Indicator Bit (SS7 MTP Layer 2)
Fires Brigade
Federal Investigation Bureau (Grand Theft Auto IV)
Fast Information Block
Fraud Intelligence Bureau (UK)
Fédération Internationale de Boules
Flight Information Bulletin
Frequency-Invariant Beamformer
Foundation for Internet Begging
Fishing-in-Balance Index (marine ecosystems)
Friendly Illinois Brethren
Fields by Information Blending
Friendly Illinois Buddy
Forwarding Information Block
File Interface Block
Field Information Bulletin (Unisys)
Frame Insertion Board

Personally I like Fish in a Barrel and Flying Inflatable Boat, but more than likely it is one of the two I highlighted:D

HAhahahaha!

FIB = F***ing Illinois B*****d.

T2 - I'm from Springfield, so everybody here still calls me a FIB, even though I live here.  And I hear it A LOT actually.  Best part is, when they call me that, they just assume I'm from the Chicago-area.  Then I tell them where I'm from, and they have no idea where it is.  The capitol?  Really?!?  Then I usually come back with some quip about how they have a dumb football team here anyway... you get the picture.

Needless to say, I like Wisconsin, but I'm itching to get back to the "flatlands."

Here is my plan for the rest of the week...
Today 3 1/2 mile base run
Friday lift and bike
Saturday...was a planned rest day but now I am in for the challenge.  I will do something.
Sunday...5 mile long run (that may be the funniest thing I hear all day!)

I actually have the rest of the month kinda planned out on paper.  Joe always ends up in our bed sometime in the night and I just don't feel like fighting the battle right now since I get up at 4:30 some mornings to work out.  The problem is if he wakes up once he is in our bed and no one is with him.  So I can't guarantee runs in the basement when John leaves for work at 4:30 right now.  I know John's schedule for the month so I have it worked out.

SEMESTER IS DONE! WOOHOO!!!

I got a workout in this morning, too.  It felt super good cuz I haven't had time to workout since Monday.  Boo.  I'm going to pick up an extra bike ride this weekend to make up for it.

And I get to do all my Xmas baking this weekend, which is my favorite thing to do around this time of year!  Since I'm not going to see my big Italian family this Xmas (we're celebrating with Ryan's family this year), I'm going to be brave and attempt to make some Italian cookies that usually my aunt is in charge of making, along with all the kinds I always make.  I think I have like 11-12 different kinds I'm baking starting tonight/tomorrow.  Should be fun!

Thanks to everybody for sticking with me for this semester.  I really appreciate it!

Woohoo is right Erica, way to go!  Enjoy the time off and all the baking.  My wife will be doing the same thing this weekend.  Speaking of my wife, I am going to brag on her.  She sent me this email this morning.  I am very proud of her.  She tracks all her workouts on paper and this is what she has done through today this year...

I have run 582.39 miles

I have gone to 109 body pump classes

I have gone to 28 spin classes

I have gone to 15 pilates classes

I have gone to 9 body attack classes

I have gone to 6 yoga/yogalates classes

I have taken 58 days off (12 of those were "sick" days)

I am currently 5.4 lbs lighter than I was at the begining of 2010
