Ok, purely speculation on my part, but yesterday I saw the bulldozer grading the dirt on the waterway like I mentioned. If this is being done for Ironman, then the trail/grading that is being done would likely change the run course a tad as the trail extends to where I marked it in the satellite image.  Food for thought anyway.

holy schmoley, I'm hungry today.  Seriously, I'm on my 4th snack of the day and my stomach just keeps rumbling.

also: I've resorted to bringing bike bottles filled with chocolate milk to work.  Good hydration and easy calories.  I was sitting in a meeting earlier and all I could think about was my half of a bottle of choc milk in the fridge.  Very pathetic.

kcwoodhead - 2011-03-21 2:28 PM You'll get the benefit on the way back of a gradually declining terrain, but also will most likely have a headwind all the way home.

I hate always having a headwind when coming back on Parmer because it's so mentally exhausting.  Sounds like I'll be glad of that come race day.

Rode the entire course (and then some) on Saturday. Directions on website = awful but nonetheless a very nice course. Miles 70-80 I say have the most "inclines" but are actually small rollers and I agree with earlier post that it felt like there was a headwind both ways. I felt there were lots of false flats so plan accordingly. I rode a 12-23 and never had a need for more gears so I will race on that as well.

The run course is beautiful and I think this will be the most spectactor friendly event for the run that I have ever seen on the IM circuit. Lots of shade on the trails along the rode but I will say this past weekend was hot and humid so I can just imagine what May will bring.

Bike course lends itself to be fast so pace and hydrate and those who don't will most definitely pay on the run IMHO.

Overall really excited about this event and Keith always puts on great races!!

First, let me say I stalk this forum because a.) I miss my TX peeps b.) it gives me motivation for my own IM training c.) I can't wait to come cheer for y'all!

Some of you probably saw the Iron Distance forum thread asking for aid station ideas for IMTX as the non-profit I work with will be manning run aid station #4 for you!  Our group, Team Red, White, and Blue, is a wounded veteran support organization based around endurance racing!  Anyhow, you'll be hearing much more about us (Haley is our go-to gal for this) as BT has awesomely stepped up and partnered with us (BT=most amazing community EVER!)!  That being said, if you have friends or family that would like to volunteer for part of the day please consider having them join us at our aid station! We still need more volunteers so we ensure it's the BEST for you! They can register for our aid station at http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/join-protected-group.tcl?event_id=212474. Select “Team Red, White & Blue” from the drop down menu. The case-sensitive password is: teamRWB

We'll be putting on a Team RWB celebration dinner w/ some fun raffle prizes (many tri-related!) early evening the Sunday after the race and we'll get you all the info on that too.  Two of our RWB pro-triathletes, Tim O'Donnell and Jessica Jacobs, will be out there racing with you and joining us for dinner too.

Totally looking forward to taking the trip out there and crashing at erin116's place! Keep rocking your training knowing that each time you dig down deep you are putting in an investment that will not only pay off on race day, but can do so in life too. I read this quote today, "Triathlon is a sport of determination. It's like napalm for 'I can't."'

Somebody from the ST forum was kind enough to take my best-guess IM TX bike course directions and create this mapmyride course, in case anyone's interested in checking it out.

On a step-back week here.  And I am enjoying it immensely.   After back-to-back 20+hr weeks having to do only 12hrs this week feels odd and I am antsy but the body is responding well.

Saturday is a 1h 15m run followed by an OWS at Lake 288.  Then Sunday is the Waller BlueBonnet ride followed by a 45min brick run.

Might actually have time to get some of the weeds pulled from the landscaping!! (probably not)

Recovery week this week. Only 3.5 ride on Saturday with a .5 hour run afterwards. Did my long run for the week last night as the weather was just awesome! Oh, and an OWS Saturday afternoon just to get the feel of the wetsuit and sighting again! But that shouldnt be more than 30-45 minutes of swim time

I'm on a recovery week also.  However, recovery weeks do not include weekends....

Last week was a swim-bike brick Saturday (4,000 yard swim, 4 hr bike), followed up with a 30 min recovery run ~3 hrs after the bike.  You know, to teach myself to keep moving when I don't want to.  Sunday was ONLY a 2:50 run.  It was funny because I normally have long bike rides back to back on the weekends.  By only having a long run meant that I had half of Sunday to do as I please.  So I took a nap

This weekend I havea long brick on Saturday - 4 hr ride with a 70 min run.  Sunday is a 5:30 ride.  Good times.

5 hr ride on Friday afternoon and a 12 mile run on Saturday morning. Had to hold off on running last week because of a foot injury, so I'm building back up.

Recovery week, also....Sat OWS and short bike, Sun Tall Texan Half IM (treating it as a training day, not a race day).  Last Saturday was my LLD (4000m swim, 120mi bike, 13mi run)  10 hrs of fun.  Glad it's behind me!

I would bet a Payday and two box's of Chiclets that come race morning that wetsuit will not be needed.  Unless you are getting the feel of said wetsuit for another race, if so then all bets are off!!

Had some problems with my keg, so the Belgian Trappist Dubbel remains in the secondary fermenter waiting on delivery of several new kegs.  The Honey Hibiscus Wit is in primary fermentation and the Texas Kolsch ingredients are sitting in the closet waiting for the Trappist to get kegged so the Wit can move to the secondary so the primary will be free.

Of course, none of you get to taste any of that, since no one seemed to want cold, home brewed beer waiting for them at the finish of IMTX.
