mila - 2008-06-20 6:42 PM Swimming makes me sneeze.  It also makes me hungry enough to want to eat my arm off and it makes my hair crunchy.  Other than that, it's great .

You don't like to swim Mila?   Gee -- I'd have never guessed it

Maybe if you had a pink swimsuit and swim cap!    ---  I'd paint a tiara on the swim cap for ya if ya wanted it!

Now what makes you think I don't have a pink swimsuit, swim cap and goggles?  However, I prefer to swim with a skull and crossbones on my swim cap because I am fierce like that.  I am considering a swimsuit that says princess on it, though .

Gee -- why doesn't that surprise me!

We need evidence of pink swimsuit and googles!

LOL... no, there will be no evidence of that but I give you my 100% princess visor direct from the Disney Marathon:

'Tis the season.  It would be best to give Sal a hard time about his lack'o'BT'ing .  Also, Scarface had a big week... he completed his first tri and he also had a nasty motorcycle accident.  Stop by his blog:  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=76728.

Great that he completed his tri.

Sad that he crashed. Had a friend crash on a motorcyle a year ago. He lost a kidney split his liver and spleen almost in half, had to remove 3 feet of his lower intestine, broke his back, concussion.

He was in the hospital for a month. He was so drugged up he didnt recognize his wife for most of that month. Really freaked her out.

He has been riding for 30 years. He still doesn't remember what caused the accident. But friends who were 2 minutes behind him, saw a baby deer near the road, and think he swerved to avoid hitting it, and yes he was going too fast. He thought he was good enough to handle the speed on a twissting road, and for 30 years he was good enough. Not that afternoon though.

Eh...start new job responsibilities today...I tend to stress out a bit when that happens and get a bit focused on work...I guess THAT needs to change...

My kids are in the middle of travel soccer season, and I think Brett is off on vacation...it may be a bit quiet...

Happy Monday!

Its very effective. Like most guys I am pretty shallow, give me a pretty face, and I forget all about the small cold evil heart.

Breakthrough night for me. 1 mile swim, stopped twice for 30 seconds or less to dump water out of the goggles. I call it a continuous swim. No problems breathing ( other than my hips sank) and arms didnt get so tired that I had to stop.

Feeling better about attempting an Oly now that I feel that I can swim the distance.

10k race in the morning. Last year the Garmin measured the race at 6 miles even. Sneaky way to PR a race and get people to sign up next year. Fast course sneakery, cut it short by .22 miles.

10k race full distance this year. Last year for 6 miles even 52 : 48. This year 6.24 miles 47:54

Ave 7:41 per mile.

Guess being 17 pounds lighter than last year helps. Didnt run as much this year as last, but more biking.

3 minute PR. Lots cooler this year than last though.

Now that would be a REAL picture!!!!      Mila sitting still long enough to do some knitting!    !   I'd issue her a challenge to do that, but she's needed in here worse!

GREAT DAY!

Great day for me today.  Met up with my Nephew and Drewwhite for the Provo FREEDOM RUN!   They offered 5k and 10k distances.    I chose the 5k.  Almost did the 10k but was way nervous about the altitude and heat.  Temp was probably close to 85 at race start time.  Got up to 102 today, so that's 1 hot 4th of July!

I'm pleased with my result, still way too slow, but given heat and altitude, I'm fine with it.

I've posted a race report.

Hey Brett, nice race given the altitude and the heat. Sounds like fun.

What are you doing back in Provo?

HR/Pace label Range data label Cumulative Time in zone
1 - Recovery 116 - 148 59m 16s
2 - Extensive Endurance 149 - 159 21m
3 - Intensive Endurance 160 - 167 05s

Now there is some zone 1 and 2 running for Mila and Sal.

Fastest training run I have had in a while too. But its only 66 degrees at 10 at night.

54 mile ride to San Diego for my Birthday.

Nice that its mostly down hill so easy ride.

Came back on the Amtrak train. Pretty ride. Slow with lots of stop lights and a few hills through residential areas.

Fixed.  Sheesh...picky , so I rounded down an hour...that's o.k. for an Olympic distance right?

Off-line again tomorrow.  I'm going to a LOT more meetings with my new job responsibilities.  And my phone just doesn't log on to BT that quickly...
