Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) esc - 2008-06-20 9:11 AM dcrunningdiva - 2008-06-20 8:46 AM Got in a good 20 miles this morning. It felt great with just a slight chill in the air. I realized a couple of days ago why people wear those toe cover thingies. My two smallest toes on both feet felt like I had frost bite and it was only in the 60's! I can't imagine how I would have felt in the 50's! Gotta get some swimming in today. Maybe I'll go to the pool this afternoon with the kiddos and then get in a few hundred yards during the "adult swim" time! I don't have a swim scheduled for today but I have 8 running miles scheduled for tomorrow and I may not feel up to swimming after that. I want to make sure I get all my swimming miles in - plus the 110% -before my "Aunt" comes to visit again (if you know what I mean!). I only have 3502 yds left to swim so I could break that up into two 1751 yd swims or three 1167 yd swims. I can easily get 1000 yds during two adult swim breaks so that would leave me with 2502 yds left to swim or two 1251 yd workouts. Okay, I know you guys don't give a crap about the numbers - just that I make them, right???!!! I just had to do the calculations for my own purposes I guess. Heh...you could make this into some crazy math story problem for your kids. Tracy starts swimming at 12pm at a speed of :20 per 25 yds. Aunt Flo starts swimming at 12:15pm, gaining .5 sec on Tracy each length. How long will it take for Aunt Flo to catch Tracy and ruin her week? ROTFLMAO!!! |

W.T.F.? Has anyone ever heard of this?? I mean, I guess this makes sense...but still. It's just...weird? Warm Up: - 2 x 200 free Drill Set: - 4 x 25 free blind -- swim w/ eyes closed -- count the number of stokes it takes for you to hit the lane line -- this tells you how often you need to site Main Set: - 30 min non-stop swim -- every 4th length close your eyes and sight one stoke before hitting the lane line Cool Down: - 2 x 100 Choice Sounds, to me, like a fabulous way to get your fingers tangled in the lane line. Be careful and don't lose any digits! |

Of course, I'd have to change the initial figures to read "Tracy starts swimming...at a speed of 1:00 per 25 yds." Oh, okay...maybe I'm not THAT slow.... Edited by dcrunningdiva 2008-06-20 11:52 AM |

And I managed to do it by getting a PB on the route I run regularly round the site. Good confidence booster for SUnday. I have a 10k race on Sunday am, so should go to 110% on the run this weekend. Hopefully I will get a swim in later this afternoon and again tomorrow to get those numbers up more. Who has big plans this weekend????

Expert 642 | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) I got my 1500 yrds in at the pool today! Whoo hoo!!! Gotta update my logs now. Weekend plans? Well, I'm hosting our couples small group here on Saturday and then going to Maryland on Sunday to visit with some friends of ours who are visiting from the Czech Republic - they are missionaries there. Other than that I have an 8 mile run, 30 mile bike and a possible trip to the pool again. |

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) Ahhhh crap. Just found out that my nice Sunday morning 10k race is actually a Sunday evening 10k race!!!!! It is actually at 7pm and not 7am.......so is gonna be hotter than heck out there....and humid in the desert here, for a change,......weather forecast says about 91degF with late afternoon showers. ......fan-freakin-tastic.......NOT I am gonna have to take it easy on Sunday too so I can race in the evening. I have never done a race in the evening, so we will see how it goes. Good thing is that the race is sponsored by "Ben and Jerry's", hence the name "Cherry Garcia Run" and apparently you get ice cream as the post race refreshments.....so it is not all bad I suppose. :-) YUMMY! Oh well, I am registered now and there are no refunds, so what the heck, no point complaining...eh? |

Whooo Hooooo...70% of my runs complete! Looks like I'll have to kick just a little harder next week but with Aunt Flo's almost certain arrival I'll be spending less time in the pool and more time on the roads! |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) Don't forget to update your BT logs and the team spreadsheets by midnight tonight. And remember - You now have a little EXTRA INCENTIVE..... You may now achieve 110% of your individual goals! For example: Your swim goal may now reach 110% Your run goal may now reach 110% Your bike goal may now reach 110% Your "other" goal may now reach 110% What does this mean? - If you want to give yourself an extra push and challenge yourself this month --> GO FOR IT! - If you have a teammate who is lagging --> Here's your chance to HELP YOUR TEAM! Each individual goal will be capped at 110%. (In other words, you can't do 125% of a goal.) This means that you could, conceivably, reach a "super achiever" 110% total. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and do some training! - Dee |

I had to stop and get turned around because I ran out of pavement. Gotta love country roads that suddenly become gravel roads! Anyhow - nothing but corn as far as the eye could see. |

How many times did you hit the lane lines? And how many times did you hit the wall? Um, and how about other swimmers? LOL No other swimmers were in my lane luckily. The way the lane is set up there are 2 openings in the middle for endless lap swimming (so I had the lane buoy on one side, and a wall to the other with a few gaps)...so I totally managed to whack my head about 4 times during the process on the corner of the wall where the gaps were. It all happened in the same direction...so homegirl is apparently veering more to the right. Certainly an interesting drill. One I'm sure I'll be repeating in the weeks to come. It was certainly a weird thing. We'll see how it impacts my sighting when I go back into open water (hopefully tomorrow). |

So you can all see where I ride. As you can see, there is not much out here in the high desert of NM. But I suppose it is a pretty landscape, just in a different way. The picture below is a view of the Sandia mountains that overlook Albuquerque to the east. They look even better at night since the setting sun can sometimes make them look a deep pink color. Very cool. |
