Good news: I ran the Queens (NY) Half Marathon Bad news: I ran the Queens (NY) Half Marathon UGGGGHHHH! What a horrible day. It was going to be part of my long run. I figured the race would push me through the final miles, but instead I had absolutely dead wornout legs from the start. We got there later than I anticipated, so instead of a leisurely 7 before the race, I only managed a couple slogging miles. My legs were so weak. And the humidity...almost 90%. After the nice weather we've been having, this was a shock. I had my shirt off (race pics to come?) by mile 3 because my singlet was soaked and stuck to my skin. I just couldn't figure out what pace to run at. I should have held back more than I did. I didn't care so much about my time in the race, but just that it would be a long run at a decent pace. So, I only managed 15 miles (including some walking). In the evening, I went out for another 3.5 miles just to get SOME frickin' miles in. But overall - we're halfway through the month. And i'm at 50% of my goal mileage, 50% of my swimming sessions and 58% of my abs sessions. So, right on track!! |
