kcarroll - 2009-10-22 7:56 PM BTW, the reason I'm pushing the long run up is because I'm driving to Vermont on Saturday for a "leaf peeping" weekend".  Should be fun.

Take pictures to share with the VILLAGE (as Stacie would say) when you get back!!! I love pretty leaves!!

Will definitely take the camera.  Someone's going to have to tell me how to post them though. I tried once before and nada.  Do I have to import them from somewhere other than my hard drive?

Download them to your harddrive and then click the attach a file after posting button at the bottom of your reply page.

You usually have to compress them so they fit BT rules.  I just save them as a 2nd compressed file.  Browse to it and bam there are your pictures

skrtrnr - 2009-10-22 12:43 PM AFTERNOON GHOULIES!

back from my RUN FROM HELL!

honest to pete.  though.  its been awhile since ive had an ugly run.  theres always at least a few.

today was the day.

bugger.  but my 5 miler is in the books.

and IM ABOVE THE YELLOW LINE NOW...

77.7%

alls sevens.  some sign there.

i have to say.  since the run was going so EXCEPTIONALLY WELL (dripping w sarcasm) i did consider the fact that i already did an .8 and why not just cut my EXCEPTIONALLY WONDERFUL (dripping w even MORE sarcasm) run short,

but.....

then i kept thinking of all of you, and the EXTRA EFFORT you all have/are putting into your workouts this week, and how my inadvertent .8 mistake inspired the TEAM to do. just.  a little. bit. extra.

i thought, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL im gonna end this run on a short note...i rallyed, putting forth just a little xtra effort and finished the entire FIVE.

thanks for INSPIRING ME to do just a little bit more today!
stacieb

Sorry to hear that today's run was tough.  Way to dig deep and push to keep going.  And look, you got rewarded with lucky 7s!!  There's some good runs in your future.  I can a feeeeeeel it!!!

i dont care if my four remaining runs are UGLY as all get out (well.  i do but....) just as long as the November 1st run is a good one.

NEAL, can you hook a girl up?

an UBER GOOD run on NOVEMBER 1ST, pwease, oh pweeeeeease.

stacieb

you sound just like I did before mine! you will soooooooo do fine, Stacie! dont you worry your pretty little face!

oh JULES.

you made me cry.  seriously.

im not gonna worry my pretty little face.

nope.

not no more....

ive been UBER bi-polar about this race.  i went into w some reasonably high-expectations of myself.

ive been doing well in my training.

my paces have been right on the cusp.

but.....still......

coming to the end of a FULL season and my first tri season to boot, im just worn to the nub, physcially, mentally, ever which way-lly

the timing is just not right.

these arent prime conditions to be setting an impressive PB.

ill do fine.  ill finish the race well.

my easy pace going into the race, was what my race pace was last years 1/2, so im sure to PB.

but, im almost sure a sub 2 is off the table.  i was so close too.

im getting to the point now where im OK w that.

it is what is.

and theres always next year...or the year after that...or.....

my mantra is:

challenge my limits
be respectful of my limitations.

this is one race where being respectful trumps challenging myself.

im just at a 'low' point.

nodoubt,  im gonna run w heart.

im gonna run w my ALL my peeps - im SO fortunate to have in my life.

i BEGGED and PLEADED the Universe for a CIRCLE i could be a part of...and ive got three - my OHio (Tribe) friends, my PITTSBURGH TRI CLUB friends and my YMCA friends.

oh wait, its four - BT and the BEST GHOULIE VILLAGE A GIRL COULD EVER WANT.

i am uber, uber blessed.

id say i ALREADY GOT MY PB and EVEN THOUGH I HAVENT RUN A SINGLE MILE!

kcarroll - 2009-10-23 8:55 AM Well, that was not pretty.  Actually started out great but the left knee started grumping at mile 5.
What's with that????? It's the right knee that gives me grief.  So I moved the pat strap over to mister grumpy and kept going.  By mile 7 I was losing form and starting to worry it would blow up.  So, I walked the last mile.

What say you Ghoulies?  Do I log this as 7 miles or 8???

wog is ok to log! so you do what you think?!!

i agree.

good enough is good enough in my book.

i say LOG IT!

Did my first OSCE today!!!!! (I can't exactly remember what it stands for...Objective stationed clinical exams or something...) I had to take a patient history....I passed!!! YA!!!!!

Congrats!!! Don't you love interviewing actors...they are so much harder to deal with than real patients

haha...I used to work at a EMT School....and I was often the victim! so, I feel your pain...they hated for me to be the victim as I would always mess with them!!! imagine that...me messing with someone!!!! NOOOOO not me!

Reminds me of doing casualty drills on the ship. The experienced actors were always fun because they'd have fun with it and really mess with the new folks. I never got to be the actor. I was always the one applying tourniquettes, treating sucking chest wounds, and splinting fractures.

ooooh.

sucking chest wounds.

now that sounds like fun!

miss me while im gone....

heck yeah!!!!!!!!!!

MISSING YOU ALREADY!!!!!!!!! COME BACK! THE VILLAGE IS NOT A VILLAGE WITHOUT YOU, STACIE!

im back.

with the front of my house still to sweep.

and the upstairs bathroom to be cleaned.

and the laundry to be put away.

but im here. im here.  im here.

i used my afternoon snack - ONE SMALL SLIVER OF PUMPKIN PIE W/WHIPPED CREAM as my 'excuse' for sitting here typing, THAT and waiting on the last load of laundry do be done in the dryer.

when i put laundry away i like to put it away ALL at the same time.  its probably more time consuming, but it drives me bonkers to put away a load, then in a few hours or the next day putting away another load, then another, then another.

WILD THING 3 departs in T-MINUS 80 MINUTES.

as for Thing 1, Thing 2, the closet sounds just right....im sure they can make themselves 'cozy' for the weekend, its a walk-in after all.

Got some beautiful mountain biking in yesterday at a new area I have never ventured to.  I will post a picture later to tease you guys - I guess I should do some work huh?

I am only here 1/2 day so no catching up today.  Maybe tonight!

yes, we want pictures!!! I will try and take one of the trail I run today too! it is one we mtn bike on too!...bet you will be taking the next plane this way, Bill....you would not believe the mecca of trails we have near our home! just plain sinful! all I want to do is ride my bike! and explore!!!! you want to join my dh and I...we love the company!!!

Next trip to SF area I will volunteer for and will take an extra weekend and we can ride all of those (or most) trails.  No problems with that - I thinking riding new trails is nirvana

I say make that trip soon! not sure how long we will be here!

Where are you going?

do you mean where am I going next week? or long term?

No pink - Orange.

The were $80+tax with my Y discount at the local running store.

Bill does not spend $200 for shoes - ouch

Can I go shopping with you? my husband would love for you to save us some money!!! and I like the way those look! what are they again? name and brand???

Looks like the Brooks Launch.

http://www.brooksrunning.com/product/1100651D/123205/Launch

The women's version is a light greenish color. Check it out here.

http://www.brooksrunning.com/product/1200601B/123211/Launch

Enjoy!

PS. Which Newtons do you have Jules? I have the Gravity Neutral trainers. People here at work love to make fun of my red shoes, but then again, only a few of them can catch me.

well doesnt that just sukkkk! I wanted the red ones! although pink would have been better....too bad its just my computer that saw them that color! I say they make pink ones or red ones for the ladies too! those citrine green ones are not me!! but I must admit I am liking the price!

here is a question for everyone that runs long distance...I have yet to get a blister from my running shoes on any of my long runs....

who besides those of you who are wearing orthotics gets blisters from thier running shoes is getting blisters?

Im afraid to downgrade because when I used to wear new balance it was a daily thing!

GHOULIE QUESTION NUMBER TWO:

WHAT GHOULIE-RIFIC ACTIVITIES DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE WEEKEND?

Nothing but selling tickets, taking tickets, watching dogs run doing all kinds of great things like dancing polka ~ dogs jumping from helium balloons, and a poodle who drives a mini covered wagon with another poodle in the back! tooo cute, oh and there is Nino with a big red nose, a girl with rather large bazoomers who I dont know how they behave and stay put inside her very VERY low cut top...who does all kinds of flips here and there...and all the time...her rather large BAZOOMERS behave! - then there are the hula hoop girls...never seen soooo many hula hoops on one being going in all directions and all the time this girl is telling a story...and we can not forget the two small children who can not be older then 7 who fly from a trapeze!!!!!! yup both days of this!

in fact 13 hour days..sat...and Sunday...

so take good notes on all the chitter chatter, Bill! Although between all the above madness...I will get online and come visit you guys!

Have a GHOULISH WEEKEND!!!! and even though I know I dont have to tell you all....RUN.....RUN........RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

red? white? or rose?

Last night was a red, although I like white too.

well you can come and open and consume any and all whites I have...never really liked chardonays or sauvignon blancs....not really a merlot person either...Cabs only! mmmmmmmmmmmm~ and havent found too many cabs that I dont like!

I don't particularly care for sauvignon blancs, but do like some french white burgundies (sacrilige in California though) cause they aren't so oaky.  I also really like viogner's in the summer.  Nice patio sipping wine.

hmmmmmmm not sure I have had viogners...will have to give it a tri!

And finally the valley the park borders I was at.  To the opposite side would be Canadaigua Lake but you cannot see it from the park at all.

woooooooooow....love the fall colors! very nice!!!! and has some nice rolling hills! how were the trails? are they mostly single track? or fire trails??? and did you run inot many other riders? is it busy area? and last question...is how far from town are you? I see not one structure in this picture of the overview!!!

This is about 1.5 hours from my house but in the middle of nowhere.  I saw 1 other hiker with his dog but this is quiet season for mt bikes out here now.  Where I took the valley picture 3 other people came in as I took the picture.  I just took off on my bike and never saw them again.

Fire Trails but they have some Single track that you can goof around on.

I cannot wait to see the trails next summer without all the leaves so I can give you more of a report.  I was pretty careful because I did not want to pass my bike without knowing the trail and not being able to see most of it due to coverage

sounds really nice~! and close to you too! that makes it nice...so why no mtn biking? trails too wet?
