What's new?  Anything?

No, I need new and exciting!

C'mon NRG, you live in Chicago.  New and exciting should be in abundance there.

But it is not new if you live here.....but yes could be way worse!

I am ready for a relationship......I think? maybe?  ok.......maybe not :-)

Good thing you clarified that.  I think I felt the earth stop rotating for a second.

NRG42 - 2012-08-11 4:46 AM Is TAN broke? It is friday afternoon.

No, but I am.

Early Saturday morning for me.

Okay, I'm not really broke; I don't have a lot of savings (enough to live on for half a year or so), but I have zero debt as well.

being  single = being BROKE :-(

Wow, totally opposite for me.  Maybe I was dating the wrong person? :P

The last guy I dated... I don't think we ever paid for each others stuff once. EVERY SINGLE MEAL/TICKET/BAR TAB - wanna split this? I look like an a-hole for saying anything but "sure"

I thought that was strange. He was very cheap/stingey with his money. Even when I would pay for his meal/tab, I rarely got it in return. Not that I was keeping track, but it was noticeable.

I'm assuming that you kicked him to the curb?

Kids such money like a syphon

Ah, so you mean single PARENT = broke. Or even divorced parent, since both have to keep up residences (if they're joint custody) that can accommodate the kids.

Their father is great, it's just I am the bread winner so lots of time I am shelling out the expenses when it comes to cash.

He is a great Dad and I can't complain cause he does 80% of the work(day to day) and allows me the abilty to grow in my career.

But it was easier with half the bills and another income.

That's weird.  Myabe I'm old fashioned, but I pay for EVERYTHING and happy to do it.

But I personally believe that the person who invites, pays.  I think that's fair.  But if she invited, I would still try to pay and most of the time, convince her to let me, but if she put up a huge resistance, I would let her.

AND, since I think it's the guy's job to keep asking her out if he's interested, it's his job to pay.

Ahhh livin' in the modern world.

When I dated I always just expected to pay or pay half. It's totally fine with me.

But along those lines, my friends husband is NOTICEABLY cheap. It's so annoying. He's the type of dude who divvies up how much of a shared appetizer everyone ate so they can pay their fair share. One time he got us movie tickets and I gave him cash and was 3 cents short and he stood there waiting for me to scrounge up 3 pennies.  The strange thing is I know for a fact he makes well into 6 figures.  I don't get it.

Yeah I always hated that.  I like it better just winging it and have one person pick up the tab... not really taking turns but just whoever gets it that day.  Plus your servers appreciate it

It's sort of the same thing with holding a door.  If she is walking ahead and wants to hold it open for me, doesn't feel weird at all.  It's just common courtesy.

I have also been lucky to pick girls who don't EXPECT the fancy places and bars every single time.  If she want's Smith and Wolinski's and $20 martins on every date AND expects me to pay?  I wouldn't keep her.

She needs to be just as happy with a Thai place and a movie as well as Mix and a club here in Vegas.  I guess she needs to be like me.  I'm up for happy hour coctails and Yardhouse and a flick, but also The Berrymore and a Vegas show.

Oh, if you come to Vegas...  The Berrymore.  It's new, and getting amazing ratings... AND it's amazing.  Been there a couple times.

Did that once, and made the mistake of saying, "those don't look the same on you as they did on the model in the catalog".

15 years later and I still get reminded of that every now and then.

I gave some cute ones with a christmas theme.  Candy canes and elves and santas for her birthday.  I think we had only been dating a couple months...

I was at that point I felt comfortable enough to give them by then (I didn't force it and wanted to take my time)  I probably waited TOO long on some things, but hey, it worked out.

The only slightly uncomfortable thing is, she opened up her "bag o gifts" in front of her friends and they were included.  I felt a tiny bit sheepish.

But dating can be EXPENSIVE.  I would want to impress, so went out for martinis a LOT.  They are a lot cheaper in Denver, but I was still paying 60-70 a night for drinks, then another 50-60 on just an average dinner.  Do that 3-4 times a week?  YIKES.

I can't imagine dating now here in Vegas.  Unless just "hanging out" is fun and she is happy with just a wine bar and a cute italian joint.

One time, there was a beautifully wrapped box sticking out of my faculty letterbox (rectangular shelf on a wall with a hundred others; we had a huge department), and it was quite obvious so there were a few people milling around gophering to see what it was. I pulled the ribbon off and opened it up and ...

It was a VERY racy bustier/thong (with snaps on the crotch) and garter belt/stockings set, red and black silk.

Collective OOOOH from (a now growing) crowd gathering around: "Is that from one of your STUDENTS?"

Without thinking, I blurted out: "No, it's from my student's father ... "

I went into Victoria's Secret to get a something as a joke for JWKMH for Valentines Day.  I got waited on by a daughter of some friends from church.  That was funny.

Yes, too hard to go balls out on every date and I know like Vegas, some of these men must be dying in Chicago.

But I DON'T like when the man ask me to pick the place cause the range is so wide and not sure of what his comfort zone is?

I have been to dinners which with drinks/and tasting menu are routinely $300-500, and i would not be able to flip the bill on a routine basis even if I offered.

I like pizza or thai though and would be just as happy!!!!

My Sister-in-law is a teacher and once got a very large black lacey nightie from one of the students for x-mas, she still till this day never said anything and assumed the packages got mislabeled under the tree.

She said the teacher conference with that family were very uncomfortable and YES the lady was the right size.

Guys buy your women cute panties it goes a long way!

I always though it would be hard for you guys to make the purchase in the store??

I went into Victoria's Secret to get a something as a joke for JWKMH for Valentines Day.  I got waited on by a daughter of some friends from church.  That was funny.

Knowing you guys go through the effort and to a store where you are not in your comfort zone just alone makes me want to do ya!
