AFTERNOON GHOULIES.

will stick around to catch up a bit.

but wanted to touch base.

got to the Y.  1 mile continuous swim ff. by 900 yard continuous swim.

ff. by a DISDAINFUL ST SESSION, though actually becoming a little less disdainfull the more i do it....

just like i blogged, that 2 mile continuous swim by the end of the year looks more and more attainable each and every swim.

what was cool....my 2nd half albeit shorter than 1 mile, was faster than my first half.

it appears, and this seems like across the tri disciplines, the longer i go, the 'better' i feel and the 'faster' i get [i think its more i 'settle in' get in a 'groove' and get more efficient, enter that zen space the longer i go]

good news as i contemplate a 1/2 IM.

wee hee for me!
stacieb

Very cool on the swimming progress Stacie.  You'll be more than ready to conquer that 1.2 during the HIM.

ive been really feeling 'strong' in the water...and what a nice RESPITE from all the running i was doing.  its really 'therapeutic' healing my aching legs, cranky hip/glute/ITB.

i set a 2 mile continuous swim goal for myself, just so i would get my AZZ in the pool.

hence all the 1 mile continuous swims.

i did 1 mile followed by a 900 yd continuous...so im 'creeping' up there.

i really want to work at the 1 mile as my 'base' distance/feeling comfortable.

certainly WILL be advantage going in my 1/2 for sure!

Yes, Annuendo, I did Looks like you wrestled your way back on top in my absence. Hmm.... think I can catch up again???

ETA: I like your new Avatar by the way. Very festive!

Looks like I'm on top again tonight Ann

Tom... I don't mind at all when you are on top. A change of view is good every now and then.

I quite agree.

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-13 4:22 AM I just realized that we have an east coast/west coast conversation gap on this thread.  All of us out east talk early and all the west coasters talk late.  Wonder if we keep this thread going 24/7?

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I was hoping to bridge that gap a little today, but work got in the way again in a big way. Then when I got home I had to change my car battery after dinner. Argh... at least it's done now.

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-13 7:25 AM Speaking of training - I think I have officially given up the elliptical for my bike again.  Went out again last night for about 2 hours and had a great time even though it gets quite cold once the sun sets!

I'll have to check the Disdain Rulebook but I don't think you are allowed to give up your disdain training for training you actually enjoy unless you want to prematurely admit defeat to Queen Stacie in the Disdain Challenge. I'm just sayin'.

Trust me Ann for the joy my bike brings to me I have no problem but I am at 8 sessions and she is at 1 and we still have some crap weather coming so I feel safe Queen will fall in behind me - you and KimC are killing it!

I have to get back on the elliptical. That can start on Sunday, my first ever 5k is tomorrow, so that is where my focus is now.

Have a good time at the 5k! Those races are usually pretty fun. Be sure to let us know how it goes!

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-13 5:19 AM So last night on my ride I went to call the kids and pulled my left glove off (my arm that I feel on the night before) and I jolted it a little and it was sore.  Not sharp pain sore, but more of an yeah that could have been pretty bad sore.

I know people here feel ST is a time burner and you can improve in other ways but as an overall life fitness tool, ST is very important and I will stick by that statement for a long long time!

Big x2 from me Bill. I don't really care if ST makes me faster. All I know is that when I neglet it, my back gets upset with me. If my core has been attended to, I rarely have any random back pain issues. That's good enough reason for me to want to stay on top of it.

I am reading and learning but my mind is on riding my bicycle today so I am not adding anything to the conversation because it would only be innuendo's anyways!

Cannot believe you don't have any drives though - that seems strange.

I say hook them up together and let them transfer data back and forth until they are both relieved!

I'm all for the transfering data as well. But that isn't why I called you over here.

I was browsing Tri Talk and I saw you posted about the Goofy Race at Disney. I've thought about doing it, too. I wouldn't be able to swing it until 2012 though. I should have several HM's and at least 1 full in by then. I really hope I get a chance to do it.

I think about little other than swimming, biking, running and... almost all day long. Today is Friday though, and we're stuck at work, we need the innuendo's for fuel to make it through the work day.

Yes Goofy Challenge is a on the list event but this year just did not work out.  I cannot do Disney back to back years so 2012 would be the soonest for me as well.

Give me Fuel for my fuel give me double time desire!  Isn't that a song if I remember correctly? LOL

Yes innuendo's are a good thing but the real thing is a great thing!

I believe the lyric you're thinking of is "Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire."

I won't be around much this weekend, unless I log on during East coast hours. I will be at work all weekend, and I work at an after hours clinic, and it's flu season so you never know when I'll get out of there.... last shift I worked I left just after midnight. The clinic closes at 10 pm, then we take care of whoever is there, for as long as it takes. I haven't really been looking forward to this weekend anyway.

Good evening Amy and Neal. Hope you guys had a good day. Sorry to hear your weekend is looking a little grim Amy. I hope you can find something to help you pass the time and enjoy yourself when you're not stuck at work.

No big plans here. I have runs tomorrow and Sunday, and I have an ST session I need to make up. I think I'll do that tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be trolling around here quite a bit too while I'm folding laundry

Thanks, Tom. If all goes well, I'll be here off/on on east coast time and late late west coast time. Run an extra mile or two for me--it's supposed to snow here tomorrow, so I don't htink I'll be able to fit in everything else and still have time to run and shower before work. Thanks in advance!

Good morning Ghoulies!!!

First ever 5k today. My goal was sub 30, my time was 31:05. I'm a little disappointed but not a whole lot. Running on a cross country course is not something I've done before. It was wet grass and a lot of mud, not to mention not very even. There were parts where everyone was zigzagging around large mud pits. So these slowed me down some. My first mile was great for me, 8:19, it went down hill from there. I also have orthotics in my shoes, with all the wet and uneven my feet were slopping around in my shoes a lot. I used Body Glide before hand, but I've got 5 new blisters on my feet. The blisters on my arches were killing me the last mile. I kicked off my shoes where my DH and DD were standing, about 1K from the finish. I ran sooooo much better without my feet killing me. My DS was waiting for me at the finish line. Maybe I should have kicked my shoes off sooner because I was definitely when my feet stopped hurting so much with every step.

While I missed my goal, I learned a lot, and I know the next time will be better.

Have a great day Ghoulies!!!

Great job Ann!  Sounds like it was a sloppy fun mess   I bet you'll go sub-30 on some nice flat dry pavement.

Congrats!  Now get those blisters healed.  Ouch!

Great job Ann!  Just terrific.  BandAid makes a great product for blisters.  Sadly, I have used them on many occasions.  One other thought, try smart wool socks.  I've found they are less likeley to cause blisters, even when wet.

Ya know, I've never had the desire for a big house.  Just seems like more space to clean, although I'm sure they're not doing it themselves.  Jersey if full of huge, cheesy, McMansions.
