Pretty funny how everyone else knew how i did before I did!  they didnt post race results so i jsut aw them.  i'll post a full race report later but here is the skinny:

ttp://timing.rev3tri.com/Athletes/Results.aspx?raceKey=3676A1D6-A67D-42E1-BEDA-4B4C369A4DCC&athleteId=2379

Rev3 Half - report to follow 6:21:18.  pretty good for me!  Why i lolly gag the swims i do not know.

Everybody talks about the bike on this race.  the bike is a down hill  5 miler compared to the run 6 miles of climbing up a cambered gravel path! WTF!  The run is by far the hardest HM run course I have ever experienced.  if this was an open HM it would have been a beast.  lolly gagged the swim a bit (but the time includes my walk up from the beach to T1).  Swim was 6 minutes of goal pace, Bike was 5 minutes off goal pace and Run was 2 minutes off goal pace.  I took my time in transitions so the 6:10 between T1/T2 is pretty lame (in an oly I through T1 in 45 seconds and T2 in 30 seconds).  In sum I am very happy with my race 5:59 was doable and will happen next year, 6:30 was a very reeaonable goal and was met.  The bike is a beast, the run is a ferocious beast.  Time to drink beer and watch baseball!

By the way - BIG shout out the Rudy 1:11 at ridgefield (final results TBD) PRs on the Bike and Run... he'll be a hard man to beat in Martha's Vineyard in Sept. (i'll have to poison his GU)

Hey does anyone know how Kelly did at her race today?

Thanks.

Yeah, I have been trying to find her but can't in the results. Anyone else know?

Kel did not run because her back is still not co-operating.  Bike was fine, hit my watts and HR and felt really good except for the fact I couldn't stand up straight.  Nice to pace the bike well, not so nice to not be able to run (or rather not be able to run after biking -- I have no problem running so long as its not preceded by a bike).

Only good thing is that I knew pretty early on that the run wasn't going to happen so I ended up stopping 4 times on the bike to help others -- I ended up giving a away a pair of tire levers, a tube and a CO2 cartridge plus a stop at a water stop to get them to call in for a sag vehicle.  At least I was useful.

I'm really not good at dealing with injuries (and my physical therapist creeps me out, which makes me not want to go to PT).

New physical therapist?  It's great that you were able to help others along the course!  Sorry you couldn't run, Kelly.  Hopefully you'll be good to go for IMLP.

Great job Jeff and Rudy.

I wish I had a great race report for everyone with my XC MTB race.  I got a DNF.  First time for me on that.  The day just started bad, and had a bad feeling from the get go, it wasn't going to be a good day.  Late start, to drive 1 hour 30 minutes to Mass. Kids were a bit cranky as I had to wake them up for the fun at 6:30AM. Got on highway, forgot cash as I didn't pre-register for this one. Forgot the Garmin as well. We arrived with just enough time to register and to warm up.  As I head into the woods for a little warmup, I come upon what I thought was a small mud puddle.  As I pick up speed to blast through it, I suddenly stop half way through.  It was DEEP MUD.  Had to step in mud half way up shins.  Finish my warmup and head to start line. Whistle blows, and we're off.  I had a great jump at the start, heading into a 2.5 mile climb to the top.  This was not an easy course.  Very technical with rocks and climbs. Going into this race I was hoping my road riding was going to pay off.  It did, until everything went wrong.  I reach the top of the climb, and I am in first place, with the next closest about 100 yards away.  As I start a small decent, I hop a rock, and chain falls off.  Got it on quick, as the other guy caught me.  About another mile in, chain comes off again.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!  Ughhhhhh. There is one section with a very narrow bridge, heading over a muddy creek.  With technical sections, I feel I handle those well.  Not this one.  I slid off the bridge into more deep mud, having to hop off again and pull the bike through it.  At this point, I am in second  place, and still feeling strong.  As I am approaching the finish of the first lap, on a long rocky decent, I flat.  Again, ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  Everything just went wrong today, it wasn't my day, and i took the DNF.

Good news of the day, my 6 year old placed First in the kids race again.  These are pretty informal, and somewhat short, but for a 6 year old, and a 3 1/2 year old, it's a huge deal, and it makes me smile.  By the way, took the training wheels off the 3 1/2 year olds bike last week.  He did the kids race as well and made it all the way around on his own!!!

Sorry you had to take the DNF.  It sounds like a rough morning.  That's awesome that your 6 year old placed!

Congratulations to all the racers this weekend!

Jeff - first HIM!! Awesome!!

Rudy - you are QUICK!

rizer - sorry about the DNF, but congrats to your son!

Kelly - total bummer, but you will kill it at IMLP!! Save yourself! Maybe find a new PT - if he creeps you out, you're not going to want to go and commit - find a new one who is cute!!

abqtj - 2011-06-06 7:07 AM So I think tomorrow myself and a couple of friends will be going to the lake for an OWS practice. I still haven't tried my wet suit I bought earlier this year yet, so this should be fun! Just hoping the wind and smoke stay down in the afternoon (we've been getting smoked out in the evenings from the 120,000+ acre fire near the AZ/NM border since last week).

Smoke is TERRIBLE tonight, I had to cancel my run this evening due to it. It's eerie out here with the sky an orange/yellow color. Smells like I've been standing next to a campfire for a week or something.

Hopefully the air isn't too bad to swim tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Morning everyone.

Working on getting back into the swing of things -- Easy run this morning, some core work and then swimming tonight.  We're playing around with my biking as that seems to be the aggravating factors for my back.

To make matters worse I took a really hard elbow to the chin during the swim on Sunday.  I now have a massive bruise under my chin and two black eyes.  Got asked yesterday is Shaun hit me -- nice.

Let's see the damage.

Swim for me tonight.  I am slowly getting better at this.  Enjoy the warm weather today!

well, now I have a dilemma.

The news this morning said that health officials are recommending everyone to NOT exercise outside due to the smoke from the wild fires. I don't think I've ever heard that announcement before. Worst part is, the air quality seems to be at its worst in the afternoon/evening, when I'll be swimming.

What would you do?

Youa re being very smart - I have found that being aggressively aero definitely aggrevates my back.  Forward flextion [sp] presses on your lumbar discs which press on your sciatic nerve which causes pain and muscle spasms.

morning all.  2 days post HIM and i am feel pretty good.  not too much soreness, hammys are tight.  worse pain is the sunburn on my shoulders: why I didnt put additional sunscreen on in T2 is beyond me.

Light swim this morning and a long soak in the hot tub.  will delay getting a massage until this weekend to let my skin heal.

Tomorrow we enter soupy days in CT 90s and humid: summer is here.

Kelly - sorry i cant make the solstice run, I have Griskus saturday.  Good luck you do a great job with production.

Race week!!!  Summer racing in TX is a bit brutal which is why there are only sprints on the schedule for the most part.  Supposed to be in the 90s by mid morning here and 97 to 100+ all week.  Hit the trainer this morning and started taking a yoga class that's held on T, Th.  Lead instructor is a marathoner and told me that she pretty much has tailored the class towards runners and triathletes in what muscles are targeted.  So since I've been meaning to give it a go I figured WTH.

Cindy went ahead and ordered a treadmill, so our formal dining room is getting cleared out and sold off on Craigslist because we never use it and the ATT guy is stopping bye today to drop a cable line in the room in prep for a trainer and a treadmill going in there.  Good deal if you ask me.

4:30am 75 degrees, ran at 5:15 am.  First run-walk-run --- went great and there is no way I would have finished the run without it in that heat.  Supposed to hit 95 today with a heat index over 100 ... first time since August of 2006!

Question for you Triathletes.  I just received my first set of Tri Shorts (via TriSports.com with the BT Member Discount)  I bought the DeSoto Forza 4 pocket Tri Shorts.  Per the chart, I need a Medium.  My bike shorts, shirts etc are all mediums.

Are these supposed to be super tight?  they do have the Forza Compressor technology, which per the tag, compressor improves performance????  I am still learning here.  How are these supposed to fit.  They feel very tight, but aren't too short and fit the waist totally fine.  I feel like I am wearing spanx!! (no, I have never tried those)

No doubt this is not a cheap sport! Money mouth

I like them tight.  Just not so tight that you can see the outline of your twig and berries.  One of the photos from my first race isn't so modest.  Was like "Well we aren't sending that one out to Mom and Dad."
