Expert 1010 Greer, SC | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Another IM dream last night.... Forgot how to swim and on the bike, I had two flat tires and had two bad tubes The bad thing is that this is creeping into reality. I am now questioning if I should have tapered a week later!! Damn head! Nothing I can do about it now. |

Expert 617 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread BucksTri - 2010-08-18 11:30 AM The only thing that I think is odd is that I have a 1hr track workout that consists of 6 x 800meters at 85%. I guess I have to keep up my speed. I just don't recover that well after track workouts... Like it was previously mentioned, you can definitely cut your planned workout back but I have another suggestion, instead of doing them at 85%, do them building up to 85%. When tapering for big swim meets, we stopped doing "longish" fast stuff and started doing either very short fast stuff or longish build stuff. You still get speed work in but, by keeping the duration short, it won't take as much out of you. |

Expert 830 Chesapeake, VA | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread 15step - 2010-08-18 1:05 PM Ill be riding a 808/1080 for raceday, but I have the option of using a disc cover too. Should I run the disc cover on the rear? My concern is, in the event of a flat, difficulty of patching with pit stop, or just filling up with air at all. Am I worrying too much to begin with? >_< I think the 808/1080 is sufficient. I am using a Zipp disc wheel, unless of course there is a tremendous wind in the forecast. A concern over a pit stop shouldn't be your determining factor though, your determining factor should be past results with and with out the covers. |

Im trying to find a way to make sure my family knows where i am at on the course (mostly for the finish). Anyone ever tried one of these? It says $20 for 1 day or $50 for a week. Is this including the days of shipping? How can you rent one for only one day? Anyone using anything else? I am racing IMWI this year no IMLOU however I saw your post and wanted to let you know I use this at all of my races and it has worked out GREAT. After my first time using it my wife demanded I use it for all my longer races. The tracking screen is a little rudimentary but effective. You won't regret it and your support crew will be forever greatful. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I thought that the race would automatically be doing athlete tracking? Would it be worth it to carry around an additional gizmo for people wanting to know my race progress? |

My family will be following me online and I'd really like them to be watching the live feed when I'm actually crossing the finish line since they can't be there in person. I've "followed" people via Ironman's tracking but it is based on when your chip crosses the mats which is the swim, T1, bike, T2 and maybe each lap on the run and sometimes, they don't get your split posted for one until you are almost done with the next one (definitely some lag).....and to add to everything, since this is a time trial start and you have no way of knowing exactly when you are going to be in the water, time estimates don't work as well. So, yes, I think it is worth it. |

I emailed them yesterday and they got right back to me. you can order it now for the One Day Rental and they will ship it to your hotel on Thursday - so make sure you shipping address is your hotel. They will not be at the race so this is what they suggested to me. The total (which includes shipping to you and an envelope for you to ship it back in is just under 45$. For the sake of my spectators (who are paying air fare to come watch me race) and the 13 hours when they will be wondering where the heck I am, it was totally worth the price to me! |

So do they really have 16:40 to finish the race and not 17:00? Yes, that is true. no matter what time you start the course closes at 12 midnight; however the swim cut off is 2:20 from the time the LAST person enters the water... so if you are a slow swimmer, this is good news for you. If you are expecting close to 17 hours total race time, you better get in line early! |

They will have cars, maps, common sense, good mobility. They are also not from the area. I was thinking they could get inside the loop and go back and forth? Maybe, La Grange, and 2 other spots on the loop? So they can just move around inside the loop from spot to spot? Is there any good hills they could sit at? ( Mile estimates would also be greatly appreciated ). Thanks for any information. ...any suggestions for spectators with low common sense and low mobility? that's what i'm dealing with |

Member 10 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I used the track my athlete device last year at IMLOU and my family loved it. Just ordered it again because my folks and husband begged me. They could take the kids to the pool and see me and not waste their time. Also they had a great gauge of when I would finish. It provided a lot of comfort to my folks while I was out on the bike. Highly recommend it. Last year it was sometimes slow in loading and sometimes service was spotty for those tracking me but it was much more real time than waiting for the IM athlete tracker. It was the price of a one-day rental and $25 shipping fee (so $44.95). |

Expert 1146 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread We are flying out of Atlanta Friday at 12, arriving 2 PM. As I mentioned before this is a monumental flight for us. This will be the first time my wife has gotten on a plane since 9/11 (really 9/14). She was a International FA for United and was in Amsterdam that Tuesday when at the same time her sister Sandy was on Flight 93 that crashed in Pensyvalania. She was devestated and could not get back to the US till that Friday. I picked her up at Dulles, she quit United and she has not flown since, much less even discuss it. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of her. I bought her a necklace as a symbolic gesture of her and our acheivement. I plan to give her on the plane trip there. She is doing this for me so I don't have to drive us 13 hours there then do an IM. So when it gets tough out there I will call on what monumental effort she made to make the trip easier for me. Unless I get pulled off the course by not less than 10 men, I will run, scratch, crawl, and fight my way to Fourth Street by Midnight! 140.6, add a couple more and make it interesting. SEMPER FI Be safe, be smart, see you BT'ers there! |

Regular 103 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread We are driving from atlanta Thursday So, I had a dream about the race last night. I had a dream last night that in T1 I accidentally put on my running shoes instead of my bike shoes. So then, I ran back into transition, and there was a table with a coke on it. So, of course, I started to drink the coke. Then, someone told me it was the concession stand, and I had to pay for it. I didn't have any money! So, I gave him back the coke and took off. I woke up this morning thinking I needed to add money to my list! Starting to think about it all the time!! |
