When I lived in Minnesota people were offended that I didn't like their lutefisk. OMG!! How can anyone willingly even eat it after knowing how it's made!KOM - 2008-12-14 9:09 PM lastcall2003 - 2008-12-14 9:04 PM esp when normal is so hard to figure out. I used to love to hear about everyone's christmas eve traditions- the italians with the 7 fishes, and the lutefisk of the norwegians (?). I always said the irish catholic tradition was getting drunk and being disruptive at midnight mass. Normal for us but not for everyone.so, for me this year the holiday stress has been totally different usually I'm worried about all the normal stuff, this year I'm worried about making the holidays normal weird, isn't it? LOL! I would be one of those norwegians OMG how I hated lutefisk! So I'm guessing I don't want to ask huh? TOPPAGE!!!!! Edited by ebshot 2008-12-14 8:20 PM |

Seriously. I give up! No Kathy, no tree. I tried. I really did. Here's the details from my log: On to our Christmas tree problems. I got a fake one today! Brought it home. Put it together. Spent HOURS fluffing it. Plug it in. Lights work. Kids decorate it. I go to redecorate it and the lights on the top half of the tree go out. I change a bazillion bulbs. Nothing. I go to change one more and it explodes. Really? Come on. I undecorate the tree. Take it apart. Package it up. Drive to store. Return. Come home. Eat pizza. Drink wine. I give up. I'm leaning towards doing that....I need to check to see if have any regular lights hanging around. I'm sure we do. It is just one disaster after another! I think a Charlie Brown tree is in order. |

Now yesterday he says why dont we do a proper Aussie chrissie this year with cold meat and seafood... seriously - TWO weeks before i have everyone over... guys so do NOT get it... So cold meat is good.. it menas less work for me on chrissie day but more work in the lead up... BUT I think he really just wants prawns... and iVe NEVER cooked or prepped prawns... oysters, mussels, scallops are all easy (of course he likes NONE of these) Im thinking I will buy them and throw them at him saying they need to be ready by such and such a time and see what happens

Then go to church, the kids are in the pagent and then mass follows. Nothing real exciting.... Oh I havent been to midnight mass for years!!! |

Youve been through so much this year I think it makes sense.... Im about ready to throttle my flatmate.. he has no opinion on anything christmas related.. so Ive just gone off and made all the plans and prepped etc..
I have no idea... I dont eat them!!! I guess i will be sweet talking the seafood place early on christmas eve to find out what I can get and need to do... i guess if you can then its just heat in pan with garlic butter... Thanks for the tip - I will have to look into it as I was quite happy with just doing a simple roast dinner on chrissie day and now its turned into something requiring effort!!! I think either way I should just get all my prep done and then throw him the prawns and tell him to deal with it! I think that sounds like a great plan! I don't like fish or seafood for that matter.
