Oh I used an insane amount of body glide.  I honestly think that my... er... issues have less to do with chaffage and more to do with riding on the cobblestone.

It just... hurts.  In ways that part of my body should never hurt.

So how are all of our Sunday racers feeling today? Getting all the soreness out? Finally got on the bike last night. The Adamo saddle feels better and better each time I get on it.

I'm feeling really good actually!!!  My motivation was lacking in a huge way yesterday and slightly this morning, but I have a feeling it's bc this week is one of those crazy busy, "life happens" sort of weeks and it's throwing off my training schedule.

I almost forgot!  Yesterday I entered the lottery for the NYC Marathon!!  There are also a couple slots given to each local running club, so if I don't get in via lottery, there's a good chance I'll get in through my club.  At first I was on the fence about the marathon this year bc it's the day after Halloween.  AND, Halloween is on a Saturday this year, and likely the next time it's on a Saturday I won't be able to enjoy the reckless fun I can at this point in life.  Then I came to my senses, realized I'd regret this decision later AND came up with a better plan....run the marathon in costume!!!!!!!!  Now the big question is....what sort of costume???  Obviously it needs to be something minimal, and it's no secret that I love spandex.  Some of our first ideas (I have a friend running with me) were ballerinas or fairys.

That's awesome Kelli!  A fairy would be awesome, but the wings might annoy me.

What about a superhero?  Wonderwoman?

Oooh oooh, Sheera princess of power?

You could always go the GEM route too...

Yes, I'm a child of the 80s.

Eric, Justin, are you guys all right over there in Houston?

The local news here is showing constant footage of all the flooding yesterday.  It's a damn good thing you're both great swimmers as you might need it to get out of your house and down the street.

Update and let us know you're ok.

I'm good thanks for asking I probably could have done an OWS yesterday to get into work but no damage to report.  Here's a pic of my friends truck which is very high off the ground, notice the cars in the background underwater...

That's awesome, I like the idea of a superhero over the ballerina/fairy but it's whatever will make your 26.2mi journey 'fun'

Hey guys!  Thanks for the well wishes.  Things here are soggy, but we faired well.  Nice pic Eric... that was the scene all over.  It took me three hours to get 18 miles yesterday morning.  (in the Saturn rental car of course - had I had my truck... no worries!

Needless to say I am all rained out!  Now we will have to deal with the mosquitos - cause it's gonna be weeks or even months for some of the water in the parks to receed!  That is one aspect of this town I HATE!!!

On lighter topics... Like Todd said ~ minimal is good      I agree with Superhero costume ideas... very runner friendly.  A good costume is almost a gurantee to get in some great race photos... maybe for the running club or the actual event promotion as well.

Well now that I have been swimming for about a month should I know any of my times? I have no idea of what sort of times I would swim on anything.  *My swims are coached group swims with a local tri group. I wont have a chance to get a 3rd session a week in until a local pool open for lappers in May. I feel like I am making progress. I have been pushing myself by trying to keep up with either the person in front of me or the lane next to me. Do I really need to know times right now.

How do you post pics on this thread, that are not published on the web?  I have a couple race pics of the swim conditions I wanted to share, but they will not post from picasaweb...  I have them saved in a personal photo folder but can't seem to publish them here.  I am not that computer illiterate... I should have paid more attention during html writing time in school...

Some pics of the swim in Corpus Christi.  When you are swimming, the waves and rollers look so much bigger at eye level!  Sighting was very tough!  And only 3 kayaks in support of the course.  With several "groups" of swimmers swimming off course.

WOW!!  That just looks scary!  I did one ocean swim last summer, and still on the fence whether I'm ready for another one or not.  How many mouth/face-fuls of water did you get?

I don't need to salt any food for a week!   Several... every time I tried to breath I got a healthy taste!  I figured out how to breath on top of the rollers, but I found my self smacking the water coming down... I hope IMFL is a little easier than this was... but if not, at least I know I can get through it!  I don't have to like it, I just have to do it!

So for the record, those waves are at least 10x worse than the ones at St. A's this weekend.

I guess whne you're worried about 4000 people they can come up with a reason to cancel the swim.

Glad you lived Justin.

Oh yah, and nice job.
