Being in the 40-44 age group, I'm amazed at how close people in that AG can get to winning the races I'm in.

I think that is one of the toughest AGs out there, especially in cycling!

brick94513 - 2010-04-19 12:51 PM Hydrostatic body fat calculation was pretty cool.  Imagine a large stainless steel bathtub.  The bottom is supported by cables and functions as the scale.  You lie prone in about 18" of water with a weight on your lower back.  You exhale, then put your head under water, and continue to exhale until you can't blow anymore bubbles.  They repeat the test three times, then use a calculation based on height, weight, and correction for dead space air in the lungs.  The test provides you with your lean muscle mass weight, body fat weight, percentage of body fat, and your resting metabolic rate in calorie expenditure.

My test results showed 7.2% body fat or 10.6 pounds of adipose tissue.  Resting metabolic rate is 1,832 calories.

I'd be afraid to see my results.  Will it register a triple-digit body fat %? Embarassed

Went to the Y at lunch.  It was pretty chilly out, so I decided not to run outside.  While in the locker room, I allowed someone to trash talk/peer pressure me into a game of racquetball.  Don't worry, folks, I'll still hit my monthly goals.  Since my 20-week HIM program starts a week from today, RB will be out of the question, so I figured what the heck.  I'll get in a double workout tomorrow.

Just over the newswire...

BOSTON – Kenya's Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot won the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, breaking the course record with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 52 seconds.

OK... that's the exact time it took me to run my HALF marathon a few weeks ago.  RIDICULOUS!!!

After losing an old friend last week, I made it a goal to reach out to people more. I spent some time Friday sending out notes on Facebook to some people I haven't seen for a while. I have been trying to let people know they are important to me, that I appreciate their friendship, that they've had an impact on my life, etc., and its been great.  I contacted three people on Friday.  I saw someone after the race that I haven't seen in a few years and spent two hours talking to him. Then yesterday someone that I met when I was a missionary in England 26 years ago sent me a note.

Yeah, who would have thought that a marathon would turn into a sprint race?

I might be able to beat him if I was on my bike... Correct me if I'm wrong, but 26 miles in 2 hours is running at 13 miles per hour.  Are you kidding me?!?!

well what is your FB name and we can be friends Paul

Just do a search for Paul Bouwhuis.  I was surprised to find I'm not the only one any more. There are three of us now. I'm the one with the black and white picture of my wife and me.
