Also, now that I am doing my 2nd 1/2 mary I am learning alot more. I eat a protein bar or shake after every workout and work more on getting more protein in my diet.
Question: So last week I ran 8 miles outside (first run outside since Nov) and I was pretty sore for a few days afterward (glutes, shins, quads, hams). Is it just that it is my first run outside causing the soreness? Starting to do longer distances and my body getting used to it? Or am I not doing the right nutrition afterward? Is there anything else I need to do other than get protein in right away afterward? Here's my post-long workout routine (I find that it helps me avoid catching "leg flu" ): Immeadiately post-work out - recovery drink Lie down and put my legs up on the wall to let them "drain" Warm Shower Put on compression pants/sleeves (the compression help the blood in the legs circulate to speed up recovery ) Good meal with carbs, fat and protein Ice my legs if necessary |
