Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Fred Doucette's Half-Iron and Ironman Focused Group! -CLOSED! Okay month for me but two trips messed up my regular routine quite a bit. Work I'm doing with PT is helping but I still have ways to go. Bike power is coming along, PT is allowing me to run more, swim took a break....we'll see how March goes.

My February was a bit light compared to January. Last week I was dealing with an issue that didn’t allow any bike time and light running. |

Messy sort of....also if you can allow airing out which for me means no underwear and loose clothes. Here is a good article about them. Here is another idea I know many have used.. acne medicine that is benzoyl peroxide 10% |

Judging from my last set of 100’s @1:15’s and after 3600yds, I think my long swim is coming around just nicely. Can you guys figure out one of my IMWI goals? 'Swim really fast' ? |

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Fred Doucette's Half-Iron and Ironman Focused Group! -CLOSED! X2 on airing out a saddle sore. Wear very loose fitting clothes around the house as much as possible. Now is your chance to wear a kilt or skirt around the house! Very hot baths will help with certain types of saddle sores. You might also want to consider replacing your bike shorts. I'm more prone to saddle sores when wearing traditional cycling shorts on the tri bike. I've moved exclusively to tri shorts with a thinner chamois on the tri bike. |

I use it for both treatment and prevention while cycling and running. Not all the time depends on distance and heat. I think it's no more messier than other products. It is real thick stays in place and last longer.

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Fred Doucette's Half-Iron and Ironman Focused Group! -CLOSED! Things have finally started coming back together over the last few weeks. I've been working really hard and it has paid off. Up until this week all of my workouts were on target. This week I've had problems with some of my workouts. My blog shows the changes between training over the last few weeks. Last week was a great week. This week hasn't been that great so far. This doesn't feel like over training. Is there a point in training where your body needs to catch up and or incorporate new zones before it can go forward? If so should it feel like this? I go into all of my workouts feeling and thinking I can do them at 100%. Is this part of the training cycle? Any thoughts or experiences? Edited by Catwoman 2011-03-03 7:25 AM |

I don't know what that is but you might want to see a sports doc.yeah. I was somewhat worried last night when I took my sock off and immediately noticed a lot of swelling in my middle toe. Still there this morning and hurt, but it's a little better now. To see a sports doc means I have to make an appt to see my regular doc, and miss work for that, then get a referral to see a sports doc, then wait, then miss work for that...can you see where I'm going with this? Meeting in DC this afternoon means I'll miss my lunch run, and only planning to swim when I get back. We'll see if the day of recovery helps it at all. Actually, from a previous issue and with my migraine meds, I have prescription strength doses of Ibeprofen and Naproxim Sodium. Would you recommend either for the swelling? |

Nothing better than that when it comes to training. What do you mean when you say that you go into all of your workouts thinking you can do them at 100%? Does that mean something like max intensity for the workout duration? That will definitely burn you out eventually, especially if you're not a kid! Rest days, easy weeks, etc., are really important. (That said, this kind of thing is the most frustrating aspect of training for me. I find it very difficult to predict how I'll feel under a given training load. This is particularly true when I'm trying to include significant intensity in my training. I'm pretty sure this is because other sources of stress can significantly impact on how I recover from intense sessions. I find that stresses at work and at home really sap my energy, and managing those stresses as best as possible is critical to effective training.) |

Looking at your logs your very active. Certainly rest will help. You're coming of a big weekend of training a depending on the intensity you may feel a lag in recovery. Our recovery is important and more so over looked. Sure there are waves of feel good feel bad training. So much in life that affect us. It took me a whole season last year to figure out I had an issue. If you dial back accept a recovery period, give that time to kick in and get back to training you should improve. If my focus is triathlons I pretty much stick to s/b/r. |
