and Dee...we are sooooooooooooooooooooo very happy that you finally hired someone....now the big question is...did they accept!? glad to have you BAAAACK!

No one has been hired yet.

But the reason that I've had more time recently is that a bunch of deadlines have just passed. It'll be calm again until, um, August, I'm thinking.

I posted the June Challenge announcement. (Yes, I know it's early. LOL) Lyssa asked to be on your team. She wants to win the secondary challenge (aka the Post Count War).

I absolutely would have but Stef wouldn't let me. Probably a good thing - I've got a big ol' Charlie Brown head. ;-)

When we first discussed it at dinner, the boys were both enthusiastically IN. Briannah got a very concerned look on her face and said, "Do I have to do that too?" She was quite relieved when she didn't.

crea0029 - 2008-05-13 5:25 PM Hi all my friends... life is getting hard right now.  All the parents out here that have grown kids who have left the nest know what is going on when I talk about graduating from college and not sure where my future is.  My mom and dad want me to come home which is 4.5 hours away from where I have gone to college for the past 4 years.  It would be nice to be at home; however, all my friends are here.  I don't want to live without my friends.  I am stuck... so stuck.  Does any of my moms and dads out here have any advice???

Pam, I have not read the whole blog -- I am just catching up so you may have a lot of answers already.  Life is simple this way, you are a college graduate i.e. now an official young adult.  As a new and improved version of an adult, it is time to start your new life, your new direction and live with your new dicisions...  We made our kids go to schools at least 500 miles from home so they would have to be on their own... They came back, we moved to AZ... go figure.   You need to do what is right for your future, not theirs...

It is tough, but it is also time to grow up.... Emerson -- the one with kids older than you...

amy mutz - 2008-05-13 12:55 PM Hello Mentor group. Julie's brother needs prayer. This is what Julie has on her blog today. I have started praying for Mike and if you feel lead to pray lets just all agree together in prayer that Mike get good test results. Julie blog says: today has been a hard day on our family! my Ironman brother is in the hospital and he sounds terrible....I just got off of the phone with him! we are not sure what is going on, but they have found a mass that is causing a blockage in his colon area...it is rather large and they are running all kinds of tests to see if it may be cancerous! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for him! he has been thru so much and I just want this to be a benign mass and for it to all go away!!! THANKS YOU GUYS!! If anyone else every needs prayer let me know, I would feel honored to pray for you in a time of need. Love from Indiana Amy

Julie, in our prayers... I hope I find out as I get through the blog that he is OK... Emerson

Just a quick Stef update. I had to make a hard decision yesterday and restrict Stephanie's driving. She's very tired and making some mental errors that aren't characteristic of her. She's had 3 accidents in the past 45 days - thankfully all minor and only one involving another vehicle. But now attorneys are involved in that deal, so I may be dealing with that for a while. After a long conversation with a doctor friend of mine, he told me he thought this would be best. He described it like early stage Alzheimers - the person looks pretty good to most people in passing, but when you spend time with them you see things that just aren't right. I also called one of her close friends to see if it was just me, and she even said (without me asking about the driving) that she was concerned about Stef driving.

Stef understands and even agrees, but is very upset by this. Hopefully, she will get better after the brain radiation is done. Right now, between the radiation and the narcotics they have her on to control headaches, anything could be causing her problems.  We are afraid thought that this is the beginning of a dreadful slide.

I'm getting some exercise in. My son and I have been getting up in the mornings, which has been good for us both. Tomorrow is my cardiologist tests, so we'l see what comes of that.

Talk to you later,

Greg

Giving up driving is hard, is is like giving up part of your freedom.  Peg had to five years ago, it still bugs her... even though she knows it is the right thing... Emerson

Eric, keep up the addiction to Tri's, it is healthy.

Julie, I hope you are feeling better.

Amy IN, we are now in Cincinnati.

Pam, I see you got lots of advice.

I am off to start ready your training logs...

Be well, Emerson

I think they end after five years.  I guess I will find out when it hits five years...  for me that will be June of '09.  I can start donating blood again. Emerson

Ah, ok. I'm at 2 years now. Almost halfway there. (Sort of anyway. I'm an optimist though. LOL)

If you'll be at 5 years in June '09, then you're getting close! Yay!

Maybe call the Red Cross and ask them? They should be able to tell you.

To all of us who are survivors... Here is the rule from the Red Cross:

Cancer
Eligibility depends on the type of cancer and treatment history. If you had leukemia or lymphoma, including Hodgkin’s Disease and other cancers of the blood, you are not eligible to donate. Other types of cancer are acceptable if the cancer has been treated successfully and it has been at least 5 years since treatment was completed and there has been no cancer recurrence in this time. Some low-risk cancers including squamous or basal cell cancers of the skin do not require a 5 year waiting period.

Eric would not be able to donate. After five years, I will be able to post prostate cancer. It depends on your cancer.  Dee, I think you will be OK at the end of five years.  Julie, I don't remember which kind you had...  I was a five gallon donor and it irked me to no end that I could give with a high PSA i.e. early cancer, but not once it was formally diagnosed and then removed.  In June of '09, I will start donating again...  EK
