LockOut - 2011-11-28 8:55 AM mehaner - 2011-11-28 8:45 AM LockOut - 2011-11-28 8:43 AM mehaner - 2011-11-28 8:38 AM LockOut - 2011-11-28 8:32 AM mr2tony - 2011-11-28 8:28 AM I need to make a change. Before I go insanely insane. I am in the same boat. I need to find something new. job change? or life change? i'm certainly in need of a drastic job change. Job change for me, as well. Everything else in my life is pretty peachy right now, to be honest. But my job is sucking the life right out of me. I do NOT want to be the guy putting in 12 hours for work a day... let alone when I'm not getting compensated for it. I would much rather be putting in my 8 hours, getting paid accordingly, and actually enjoying my life. Which, right now, I am not able to do. OH EM GEE WE ARE TWINS Luckily for you, it must be fraternal twins What are you looking to do? I am kinda stuck right now, because I work such long hours, I get home and just don't want to think about work, let alone search for something new. I don't know what I want to do, and I know how much MORE work it is going to take to get into something I want to do, that it's a little depressing and fear-inducing. But I've been at the point a few times of just up and quitting, even with nothing to go to. It's that bad right now. I'm kind of at that point too. I am working my personal network looking for opportunities, but I think that in January I'm going to set up an appointment with a headhunter and let them do the hard stuff for me. Being one of a million resumes responding to an online job listing just DOESN'T WORK. I also have permission from the husband to just up and quit in January if things don't improve. I almost walked into my boss's office this morning to tell him that if things don't change or they don't find a new position for me, I'm out. I've been dealing with his BS for 2 years and even though he is taking a new position it's far too late. |

Any ideas for stores that I should look at for ideas? how do you spend your time? what do you do? i like kitchen gadgets (really want a loaf pan and waffle iron for christmas) and books and workout clothes as gifts because they are hard to mess up. hobbies or interests other than triathlon? any gadget or tool you would like but can't bear to spend your own money on it? (my mom got me a garmin forerunner for christmas 3 years ago because i didn't want one ENOUGH to buy it myself, but i love it!) |

I've been dealing with his BS for 2 years and even though he is taking a new position it's far too late. Hmmm, I never really considered doing the head hunter route. That might be an idea. I have decent qualifications, hopefully even better in the VERY near future (should be getting my professional engineer designation, assuming my French test went well...), so that might be a decent way to go. Very interesting prospect. I have considered talking to my old boss since I got transferred to tell him that I really don't enjoy the life that this job requires, but when I got transferred, I was told a few things that really got to me that made me completely jaded, and I don't see myself ever enjoying working for this company in the future, so it's best for me to get out. |

I spend my free time sleeping :P When I'm actually in a normal job and spending life how I want to, I tend to do anything sports related. I am a huge sports fan in general, and that is really my passion. I will admit that I spend most of my time training, because I love doing it. I also love all things technology/gadgety. Considering asking for a new laptop, maybe? But I also love things that are techy for odd things, so maybe some kitchen gadgetry? Hmmmm... I'm definitely thinking about clothes for Christmas, since that is probably where I spend the least money for what I love doing. I love wearing nice clothes, but I just tend to not spend the money. There are a few ideas out there. |

My job was being cut, and that direction changed. I was kept, and my salary was cut. I don't know what it is, but I feel paralyzed over this. Like I take no action to change things. It's not laziness...maybe bona fide fear. But, fear of what, IDK. My sympathies for anyone here struggling @ work. I'm trying not to think about it w/the holidays coming. I would take a pay cut if I liked what I was doing. But like LockOut, even a different position would only be a temporary solution. I don't see myself being happy here. |

Griddle, grill and waffle iron in one. Sweet and takes up much less room in storage. Mine is Food network and I love it! |

I saw a video on YouTube of a guy who is in a "mobile" jazz band in NYC and quit from a hotel/service job. He brought his band in, gave his boss his resignation letter, and they started playing some celebratory brass number as he marched out. I wish I had the balls to do something like that. |

I'm in. Actually, I think the bf and I are going the traditional route, at least until one of us finds a job - then the other one's search gets a little more urgent b/c we're looking to move. He wants to work at a VA Hospital, and he has a letter of reccomendation from a congressman... so I bet he finds a job first. |

It’s definitely something I need to change, and I know how to change it…but, just won’t? ha I mean, if I’m honest…I just won’t do what I need to do to change it. Funny, how we all know what to do w/ preparing for events/races and such…but we don’t take that same action with this. Hmmm. Ok…this is getting too deep for TAN, me thinks. Ha Sorry u are struggling too…hoping things get better for ya. Hey, we can be deep in TAN once in a while :P Nothing wrong with that, if you ask me. It's easier when Cord and Tony aren't around I kinda shot myself in the foot actually, when it comes to making things easy for me. For a long while, I was very unhappy with a lot that was going on in my life, personally, so I was 100% ready for a complete upheaval, new job, new city, new friends, etc. But recently, I've made some changes, and now am insanely happy with my personal life, and don't really want such a huge change at the moment, just the job. So my search area has narrowed down from EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD to Montreal. It's amazing how many fewer jobs there are in one location vs. anywhere :P |
