An amazing thing happened this morning - I went to bed with the back still sore and I woke up and moved around and I did not flinch from searing pain.

That sounds like a good sign.  Hope things are on the mend!

disturbed275 - 2009-10-16 7:22 AM Good morning team!

Morning Neal.  Some good catering on tap today?

Not today.  Our groups are done at 11 which means they don't have to cater lunch.  I'll be going out to lunch at some extremely good tasting not good for you restaurant.

And I only have to work 1/2 day today.  Out at noon and I cannot wait.

Same here!  After this crazy work week it will be nice to get out of here.  I'm thinking about a nice long swim this afternoon.

Did you guys hear about Balloon Boy blowing the family in on Larry King - told everyone he was told to stay upstairs and hide so they could make the news.

Sounds like some parental jail time is due in these peoples case.  I would suggest other things but that is not nice of me!

Ok, just had to go check out the news story.  I'm a little behind the times.  Um, yeah, i'm all for the "other things" you might suggest.

serendipity - 2009-10-16 6:48 AM Hubby said I'm suffering from thermal disequilibrium.

I've heard that this can be serious this time of year. Be careful, you don't want it to get worse, if you think you've got it you should stay in bed and have someone get you a warm cup of beverage.

Do you still need me to come start a fire for you? This may help with the thermal disequilibrium.

I think I've mastered the fire thing.  I've been keeping it going, anyway.  Hubby got up this morning and put more wood on.  It's warm now.

serendipity - 2009-10-16 6:51 AM Got a 3 mile run done yesterday.

Great job - did you guys end up with more snow overnight or is it just us out west?

The snow missed us this time.  I heard they got it downstate.  In Sunday's forecast, though.

Keep On Running

Great quote Ann.

KathyG used to have this around her logs (or something along those lines!): "Someone is out there training and getting stronger - is it you or your competition"

I know a lot of this is self-competition but there is still competition at the end of the day.

During my marathon training 2 winters ago we had a blizzard hit on a Friday/Saturday and I had a 17 miler schedule for Saturday.  I went out and did 15 of the 17 in around 8" of snow - had to duck foot climb up hills because of no traction and basically dodge snow drifts/cars the whole run.  Went to church the next day and was talking with a new guy that I had recently just met.  Told him what I ran through and he said no questions asked I was ready for the marathon.

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Sometimes the weather is crap and sometimes it is beautiful out, but I love the feeling of coming home after running in fresh snowfall in the morning.  There is nothing like it.

I always think back to Colorado and being the first off a chair lift the morning after a nice snowfall and playing in fresh power and being able to look back up and see the tracks that I had cut in the snow - amazing!

So yes this is early but we have a challenge to win - Get out there and run ghoulies (I feel like running right now but I don't think my boss would be too happy - I shall wait for the Y and see how the body reacts!)

The whole time I was changing and getting ready to go run yesterday I kept coming up with excuses not to run. It's cold, it's raining, I can just go to the Y tomorrow and run on the treadmill... I kept on getting ready though and ran anyway. The worst part about my whole run was getting home and realizing I'd not unlocked the door I went out. Don't tell anyone, but we don't always lock the French doors at the back of the house. I ran around back and checked, and they were not locked, whew!!!
