Keep On Running
Great quote Ann.
KathyG used to have this around her logs (or something along those lines!): "Someone is out there training and getting stronger - is it you or your competition"
I know a lot of this is self-competition but there is still competition at the end of the day.
During my marathon training 2 winters ago we had a blizzard hit on a Friday/Saturday and I had a 17 miler schedule for Saturday. I went out and did 15 of the 17 in around 8" of snow - had to duck foot climb up hills because of no traction and basically dodge snow drifts/cars the whole run. Went to church the next day and was talking with a new guy that I had recently just met. Told him what I ran through and he said no questions asked I was ready for the marathon.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Sometimes the weather is crap and sometimes it is beautiful out, but I love the feeling of coming home after running in fresh snowfall in the morning. There is nothing like it.
I always think back to Colorado and being the first off a chair lift the morning after a nice snowfall and playing in fresh power and being able to look back up and see the tracks that I had cut in the snow - amazing!
So yes this is early but we have a challenge to win - Get out there and run ghoulies (I feel like running right now but I don't think my boss would be too happy - I shall wait for the Y and see how the body reacts!)
The whole time I was changing and getting ready to go run yesterday I kept coming up with excuses not to run. It's cold, it's raining, I can just go to the Y tomorrow and run on the treadmill... I kept on getting ready though and ran anyway. The worst part about my whole run was getting home and realizing I'd not unlocked the door I went out. Don't tell anyone, but we don't always lock the French doors at the back of the house. I ran around back and checked, and they were not locked, whew!!!
