losta - 2010-02-25 9:15 PM Chances are the 2800 free books are copyright free orphan books written 50 years ago or more. May be some public domain works but It's not like you are going to find "Born to Run" there.
crimefighter2 - 2010-02-25 5:36 PM Quick question for the group...
I have a DROID and a colleague just pointed out an ap for me - 2800 free online books.  Searchable database, by author, title, genre, narrator, languages, etc.  Thought I'd look for one on running or something.  Any suggestions?  I haven't been much of a reader in the last 10 years....

probably true.  I see a lot of old old books in the list.  Even the Bible, multiple versions.  I listened to a little bit of "hound of the baskervilles" last night.  this will take some getting used to.  I have a long commute, would be great if there was one that would teach me a foreign language.

7.25 miles this afternoon, not a great run though.  It started out pretty good, and then the little dog decided he wanted to follow.  I knew he couldn't make the whole trip, but ran into trouble at the first house.  Their big dog was loose, and the daughter (probably 25-30) had to sit on it.  In the ensuing dog discussion, the lady got bit, by her own dog, and then told me her husband was dead and could I help.  (not sure how recently).  I felt so horrible.  We are going to stop by tonight.  It put the whole run in a negative vibe.  I did far too much walking.  I had tried something new- had some water and GU energy chews on the run.  Very tasty, but didn't seem to help me, just made me walk while I was eating and drinking.

Have a good weekend folks and a better March.

Don't do it.  Economy and job market sucks right now.  (although you would have more time to trainLaughing  Hang in there.  I was where you were.  Put it up to God, he'll help.

Hope you are all having a good weekend! Tommorow we begin our group challenge!

I am off in the morning to run a 10 K and perhaps "wog" a half mary. I am going to see how I feel. I'll let you all know.

As for helen {{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}. As a fellow nurse I know the frustrations of our profession. I can tell you all Helen is a credit to our profession, she knows what she needs to do in her heart! The little babies will miss her caring arms

Sounds like everyone is a little tapped. Hopefully our challenge will get you all fired up!LOL

Well gee whiz Rebecca....I read this and stopped in my tracks. Here i am whining about MY job...I gotta say yours sounds a whole lot more stressful.
Do you prosecute or defend?? Either sounds extremely difficult..........
Fitting in a workout here and there will probably help keep your stress level down.

OK. I am ignorant. What exactly IS Ragbrai? I have seen mention of it but do not know  what it is!!

Helen,

I defend. So much like you do at work, I have a life in my hands.

I am trying really hard to get workouts in for exactly that reason.

Ragbrai--week long bike ride across Iowa. Went last year. Oh what a great time!!!

Lisa,

I haven't done a tri there. I have only been doing them for a couple of years and this is the first time I have seen it offered. Some people on the forum were discussing the quality of the water. I think it's fine and can't be worse than tempe town lake. Last time I swam at Tempe, I came out with my face covered in green sludge. lol. You should have fun. It is a very flat course. I ride over there all of the time.

Coming from N. Tucson, give yourself an hour and 15 mins. If you drive slow, then 90 mins. I live just one exit north of where you will be exiting and I can make it to N. Tucson in 60 mins. Good luck and enjoy the nice weather here!!!

Helen,

You can sign up just to ride a few days. you don't have to do the whole week. So you basically ride from overnite town to overnite town for 6 days if you do the full week. Ranges from 55 to 83 miles per day. There are towns that you pass through during the day that have all kinds of activities for you to stop and enjoy if you want. You camp overnite at the overnite towns. Your bags are hauled for you if you want. There is an option to do a century one day. It is a great time. Nothing to do but bike!!!

February's totals:
Bike:4h 53m  - 94.61 Mi
Run:4h 21m 28s  - 27.27 Mi
Swim:3h 18m  - 8400 Yd
Strength:1h 00m
Snowboarding:6h 05m
Yoga:3h 45m

I'm pleased with this month's totals.  Fell a little short of the full ironman on the bike, but definitely increased the volume from January.  Hoping to do the same in March.
Think Spring,  I saw and heard 2 Canadian geese on my run today!!

Nice Spin today Kevin
