the color IS UBER COOL though i have a preference for ALL THINGS RED.

x2 on RED.  My roadie is named "Big Red."  He's a Specialized Roubaix Comp.  Red and Black. 58cm 'cause I am tall. There was a long debate on gender of and naming of bikes in another thread prob CoJ.  Big Red is definitely a "He."  My MTB is white (boring, but it was on sale and I have love/hate relationship with off-road.)  His name is Stumpy.  And of course, I told you all about Beautiful Blue Betty somewhere a million threads ago.

Seriously cool colors to choose from.

It's over in Tri Talk. My motorcycle is a girl because she's pretty, my roadie is a male because he's a pain in my a$$!

iowagander - 2010-02-10 5:02 PM Hey Kim! Nice job on the snow-shoeing today. I haven't done that since I was 13!

Afternoon Tom.  How you doing today?

Peachy, thanks for asking! I got a good 4 mile tempo run in today, so I feel as though I've been productive. Now I just need to return a couple calls and try to dive out of here early today.

iowagander - 2010-02-10 4:00 PM Good afternoon Ghoulies. Glad everyone's still having a nice day.

Bill, I love the idea of building your own bike. Especially if you've got a good LBS to check your work.

Stacie, good luck with the bike-travel thing. One thing to keep in mind is that if you're DEFINITELY going to take your bike to China, a shorter air trip to somewhere warm might be good practice. Then again, I understand that good travel bags/cases are quite expensive. Tough call!

Well even though I'm still bikeless (but hopefully not for too much longer), I do happen to know of SEVERAL very good and popular riding routes around here. Some more challenging than others. I'd be more than happy to show you around!

I've been a passenger since I was a toddler. I had uncles with motorcycles growing up so I was always going on rides. My husband picked me up for our first date on his motorcycle, it took us an hour and a half to get to Gettysburg, which is only a 20 minute drive, we took the scenic route.

One of my favorite things to do is to go out riding on Sunday afternoons. Just riding around with no time limit, nowhere in particular that you have to be, nobody to answer to, just having fun.

I've only been in one accident and it wasn't too bad. My husband laid the bike down on some loose gravel when we were going up a hill. I messed up my knee, ripped up a hand and my elbow, but got back on the bike and we rode home.

About 3 years ago I got tired of being the passenger, since we didn't go much anymore and decided I was ready to be the driver. I bought a little Honda Rebel, had that for a little over a year then sold it. Then a friend of mine was going to sell this one, she knew it was my dream bike so she gave me a really good deal on it. I love her, my friend and my motorcycle.

Six foot three thank you very much! And as for running, I can definitely show you some good routes. Do you want flat, rollers, long easy hills, or long hard hills? Ocean views, hills/canyons, suburban, etc?

wgraves7582 - 2010-02-10 1:55 PM So I am contemplating a new bike for TransIowa and all that fun stuff I do all year long:

Let me know what you think of the color choices?

thats not a BIKE??!!?

[what is it that were looking at?]

the color IS UBER COOL though i have a preference for ALL THINGS RED.

What kind of motorcycle do you ride?

2005 BMW F 650 GS
This is a 2000,  but mine is pretty similar. I do have a taller windshield on mine and hand guards.

NICE! I love the GS line. My boss has a silver GS1200. If I ever get a bike, those are on my short list.

I have loved them forever. I was going to buy a new one, and my friend decided to sell hers so it worked out great. It rides soooooo nice. My little 250 would vibrate when I got up above 55, and I was never that comfortable on it. On my BMW the seat is so comfortable and I've had her up to 80 with no vibration at all, she is just so much more comfortable overall.

I knew when I bought the 250 I'd outgrow it, I got it as a starter bike. It was cheap and I figured if I wrecked it or dropped it it wasn't that big of a deal.

Have they told you their names yet?

Motorcycle is Sonny
Roadie is Wilson - cause sometimes it's just me and my bike

With a little help from google am gonna guess: The Wedding Crashers?

Castaway with Tom Hanks. Wilson was the name of his volleyball.

Very cool.  Somehow I missed that movie.  Actually I miss most movies.  Or rather the second half.  I fall asleep.  Always.  I have tried watching A Time to Kill on TV 3 times and have yet to see the ending.

Well hello, everybody!! I am back from California. I won't say it was sunny, because, well, it wasn't all that sunny. Disney was fun, the kids were soooo happy. My 7 year old cried when the plane took off to come back home. He wanted to stay in California. He says he knows where he wants to live when he grows up (so he can go to Disneyland every day...). Sweet, huh?
