Mrschach - 2011-01-12 10:18 AM

I am already kicking myself for telling you guys I am running outside on Saturday.  It is supposed to be 32 degrees here.

Don't think moving out of this state hasn't crossed my mind today.  Although I keep it off here I am a very political person and this is just driving me NUTS!!  I have been on fire all day with FB comments and texts - haha.  I even managed to get a rise out of my wife - normally she just nods and pretends she's listening to me but when she hears the actual $$$$ is coming out of her pockets she starts to pay attention-haha

And then the real financial kicker in the balls is this morning after I heard it passed and I logged in to log my workout I get the "Your Membership expires in 30 days" on my screen - haha - I feel like I am bleeding moneyMoney mouthMoney mouthMoney mouthMoney mouth

chichitao - 2011-01-12 12:06 PM Wow, ya'll have been super busy on here and political to boot!

Come to Texas!  The weather is nicer and we don't have a state income tax.  Plus Austin is the "live music capital of the world" and your band would fit right in!    I read another article that said we were in the top 10 of a list of states with the lowest overall tax burden.  Not sure how much longer that will last though as we have a $27 billion budget shortfall this session.  So far they have only talked about cutting spending and not raising taxes.  We'll see.

I am VERY bored.  What is everybody up to?

Since I'm done with work in a couple weeks, I have little motivation to do anything here.  So I've been on BT nonstop all week.

I start class on Tuesday, so I did already get a couple of assignments out of the way.  And now I'm building a workout plan that'll take me all the way to October!  Yes, I told you, I'm bored!

What else should I do?

I was out of the office most of the morning but in for the rest of the day.  I have so much work to do I don't even know where to begin!

I just bought a pair of gloves at my local running store.

I know those days and would kill for one this week, but I'm not going to find it today.

When I'm bored, I play on http://www.walkjogrun.net/ and create run/bike routes of different distances I can use in my training:-)

I don't know if you realize how big this is for me to run outside right now.  Don't let me make excuses!  I was driving home tonight and looking at the ice and snow on the side of the road and telling myself I am crazy.  I need to do this and I need to do this NOW!  Well, Saturday!

You will rock it, Meggan!  Just take smaller steps to keep your balance, and keep your eyes on the road if there's ice.  You may be a bit slower, but don't fret it!  You'll be running outside!  It will be fun and peaceful and a big adventure!

You will do great Meggan, the first 10 minutes are the hardest.  When you are warmed up, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner!  Watch out for icy patches.

A friend gave me one piece of advice.  He said not to look at my watch for the first 4 minutes.  By the end of the first four minutes, I will be warm.  I know I sound like a baby but I really hate winter!

Meggan, you hate the cold...so go out tomorrow and beat cold into submission and show it who is boss.  You can do this!

Well, had my big PT session this morning.  I have been given the green light to bike and swim but no running.  She does want me to get an MRI so I will do that next Fri.  So at least I can start doing something for now.

On another note, has anyone tried Lara Bars?  I had heard about them and found some on sale a few weeks ago and now I am hooked.  They have got to be the healthiest and most natural bars you can buy.  They have one called Cashew Cookie...the ingredient list is literally cashews and dates.  That is it.  One called Cherry Pie made with dates, almonds, and cherries.  I could go on.  It seems like dates are the ingredient that kinda of binds everything together.  And they are all really good.  I just wanted to pass that along.  They also make mini bars that I am going to unwrap and put in a ziploc bag and take them with me on bike rides.

Cold weather run for me tonight.  Gotta go with the club on Fridays when I have the chance!  Doesn't happen too often, and I need to put in the volume for my 30k!

I won't lie, Tim, I don't really like Lara Bars.  I've only ever had 1, but I didn't like it.  I forget which I had.  Apple Cinnamon or something, maybe?  I think part of my problem is that I read the ingredient list, and I have it in my head that I don't like dates, so I didn't like it.  I may go back and try it again, though, now that I'm trying to eat all real foods (as much as possible...

I too have tried the lara bars and did not enjoy them, and I really like dates.  I have friends who love them, and friends who hate them, but none in between.  I really wanted to like them, because it was easy.

On a good note, I'm down 2.5lbs from last week and feel like I've been eating non stop.   Although not strictly following any diet, I have incorporated a lot of what I've been reading in Tosca Reno's Clean Eating book.  For me it seems to be, never getting to a state of "hungry"  because that is where control is lost.

It is done!  I had to get out early because Joe has karate at 10:03 and then a playdate.  I did not want to put it off until the afternoon.  I needed to just do it.  I can't say I enjoyed it but I did it.  It was slow because of all the ice on the road but I did it.  We are a mile from the river between NJ and PA.  At the mile is a historic battlefield from the Revolutionary war.  Because of the ice and snow, I thought it was safest to run to the battlefield and then run on the paths there.  It was still icy but better than the road.  It was 23 degrees when I went out.  Brrr...It took less than a mile for me to warm up.  I was warmed up by the time I got to the river.  I will head outside again next weekend.  I can't get out tomorrow because it is just me and the boys.

Thanks for all your encouagement guys!  I probably would have hit the treadmill if it weren't for you guys.

I wish I could!  At this point, it will still be one run a weekend, maybe two.  That all depends on work since I will start working Saturdays in a few weeks.

Yes, for this coming Fri.  It is kinda weird b/c once I told her the pain was still there, she asked me if I wanted to get an MRI.  Kinda like, "I don't think you need one, but if it will make you feel better then you are welcome to get one" kinda of mentality.  Just kind of the vibe she gave off.  It worries me b/c I've been doing this rehab now for about 6 months, and while it has gotten better (by basically stopping the running) it just won't go away.  Is it weird that I kinda hope they find something?  At least that way we have something tangible to work with and fix.

I totally understand how you feel!  We felt that way with Logan when he was a baby.  While we did not want anything wrong with him, we knew something was not right.  Everyone told us we just lucked out with Joe being such a good baby and now we had one that was not easy.  We knew, and still know, that something is not right with his belly.  Anyway hope you get some answers!!

Is everybody else working today, too?

I'm upset.  I honestly thought I had today off!  Then, Friday afternoon, one of the secretaries told me that we did have to work today!  I had so many plans for my day off, too!  Oh well.  Back to school tomorrow!  And I only work here through January 28th!!!  Yesss!

Schedule for this semester, once I'm done with work:
Monday - day off!
Tuesday - 8-9:15am Remedies
2-3:15pm Patent and Trade Secret Law
                5:30-6:50pm Education Law
                7-8:20pm Professional Sports Law
Wednesday - 3:40-5:20pm Representing Professional Athletes and Coaches
Thursday - same as Tuesdsay
Friday - 10am-12pm Sports Sponsorship and Marketing

Tuesdays and Thursdays will be crazy, but I'm loving the time on MWF to get work done and get workouts in!  Looking forward to this semester!

Erica - that seems like a good schedule.  I too used to like to load up on Tue/Thur.  Just feels like you get a lot more free time the rest of the week.  Lot of good open time in there to workout and study (in that order! ).

I am at work too, but I am the only person in the building (except for security).  I like working days like this.  Nice and quiet.  I can dress casually and get some work done without being interrupted.

I just got done planning out my triathlon season.  I planned it as if I was totally healthy and what I would want to do this year.  I am (hopefully) doing a series of 6 races throughout the year beginning in April with a mini sprint and ending in Oct with a HIM.  I also added in an Oly in May.  This way I can build up to the Oly then begin the HIM training after that.  It seems a little ambitious and I hope I can do it.  I've never done more than 4 in one season.  That series also gives you credit if you decide to volunteer for one instead of racing, and they have a big finishers party at the end of the year where I hear they give away some awesome prizes.
