I am off to get some breakfast then doing a little bridesmaid dress shopping with my bride friend. I think that today will be the day she makes her final choice! Good luck with the dress shopping. It's never easy when there is a wedding involved. |

That's huge for me... I"m really proud I actually got up and it felt good to get out and run even if it was cold. That's awesome, way to go! I'm always inpressed with you folks that can 1) get up in the morning to get workouts in, and 2) do it when it's cold. My down comforter always talks me into cuddling some more... |

I know it's a day early to ask, but weekend is always a good topic! I currently have nothing planned, but many things for the following weekend! How did I manage to sign up for a race on Halloween weekend? Stupid, stupid, stupid! I have to arrive by 7:45am... Big date with the wife tomorrow night. She won't tell me what it is. Makes me wonder. She usually doesn't make such a big deal out of it. Saturday we have big family stuff going on. Baby shower, then a nephew is having his Eagle Scout court of honor, then the big family Halloween party. And when I say big, I mean bbiiiiiggggg. I come from a large family (11 kids) so when we get together there are over 60 of us when kids are included. Sunday is church and recovering from Saturday. Paul, you didn't forget an anniversary or something else you should rememeber, did you? I always get nervous when my husband makes a point to get us out of the house for dinner too... My first thought is always what did I forget or what did he do now? |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: Ghoulies October: GHOULIE CRUSHERS! mbasta - 2010-10-21 8:05 AM Oh, and I wish I got into triathlon before MY wedding. I was so excited when I went bridesmaid dress shopping for the first time with this woman because I changed shape so much from the time of my wedding (February). On the other hand though, ppl usually look there very best on their wedding day and never look like that again, whereas if I keep this up... Good luck dress shopping! I'm not a big dress shopper myself... I actually wore a very simple $100 dress from the Gap for my wedding . I'm going to have to be doing this soon too. Sorta. My girls both are going to be flower girls in my brother's wedding this summer. Next time we go to Buffalo, we need to think about dresses... I am SO looking forward to that! Not. |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: Ghoulies October: GHOULIE CRUSHERS! So, this morning I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon about my carpal tunnel. In addition to the loss of sensitivity, I also have moderate loss of function in my right thumb. She said she's pretty sure she will recommed surgery for me but wants to do an MRI on my spine/neck to make sure there's nothing else causing this. Fun, Fun, fun... until I see her again, I'm supposed to wear my wrist brace 24/7 to avoid any further damage to my nerves. Did you know it's impossible to bike with that darn thing on??? The spelling in my posts is going to even even worse too... But in positive news... the scale actually went (slightly) down this morning when I weighed myself. Edited because the typing is getting worse already... Edited by rnihill 2010-10-21 10:50 AM |

I have been absent from helping with the posting challenge but I am struggling to keep on track with the training. Last night did some errands (I ran in the morning) and came home to tummy not feeling right. This morning I have MAJOR GI issues - where it seems that my body doesn't want to keep anything (sorry TMI). Got some strength and 5 miles on tap today - will see how the day progresses since I really don't need any accidents. |

The spelling in my posts is going to even even worse too... But in positive news... the scale actually went (slightly) down this morning when I weighed myself. Edited because the typing is getting worse already... I always wondered about the logic of wearing a brace for carpal tunnel. As I understand it, the pain etc is caused by pressure on the nerves that run through your wrist. Wearing a brace puts pressure on the wrist. When they had me wear a brace it instantly became worse. I quit wearing the brace and started investigating the ergonomics involved with the keyboard, desk, computer etc. I was doing everything wrong. Keyboard should be low, shouldn't be using a wrist rest (pressure on wrist), proper posture and other things. Set up my workstation correctly, or at least as close to correct as I could in my cubical and haven't had a problem since. My carpal tunnel wasn't as bad as yours sounds so your situation might be different but you may want to check into it. |

I'm guessing she heard about something at work that is going on in town or got some tickets through work for something. We try to go on a date every week and take turns planning it but she usually isn't so secretive about it. |

She said she's pretty sure she will recommed surgery for me but wants to do an MRI on my spine/neck to make sure there's nothing else causing this. Set up my workstation correctly, or at least as close to correct as I could in my cubical and haven't had a problem since. My carpal tunnel wasn't as bad as yours sounds so your situation might be different but you may want to check into it. The brace I have doesn't really put any pressure on the wrist... unless I'm putting pressure on the brace itself. Like when I'm an idiot and tried to bike with it, or bend my wrist weird. It does actually help imolbilize the wrist so I can't do really dumb things and make it worse. But it never really seems to make it all better. And I have no patience for not being able to use my hand in ways that I want to when I want to. I've actually been losing feeling in my thumb for about 2 years and have tried lots of different things. This was kind of a last resort because I'm now losing the ability to actually use my thumb. On days where I use the scroll bar on the mouse or the number pad a lot, I can't get my thumb to type on the number pad by mid afternoon. It just sits there on my hand mocking me... During my Olys this past summer I lost feeling too which made the end of the ride a little tricky! The one race ends on a STEEP decline (Judi, I think you are familiar with the Cayuga Lake Tri descent) where I basically just hang to the handle bars for dear life as I speed down the hill. It sucks when you have no use of the thumb to actually grip the handle bars... OK, now I'm just whining so I'll stop! |

Of course you can bike!!!! One-handed. :D (ducks and runs) Do not, under any circumstances, take advice on what to do while injured/ill from me. However, upright trainer/stationary should still be an option. Or how about unicycling! (As I said, do NOT listen to me). |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Ghoulies October: GHOULIE CRUSHERS! I made a vague attempt to put my bike trainer together. This thing is in complete pieces. I mean, there is not ONE bolt, nut, screw, or anything else in place. Even the magnetic drum is in pieces. The instruction manual does NOT assume it is all in pieces. It has, count 'em, SIX steps to put this thing together. There are thirty different kinds of pieces (not counting multiples of the same piece, and certainly not counting all the connecting equipment like screws and bolts and wingnuts and oh geez Louise). I'm going to go with a holistic approach. I am going to Google an image of the whole trainer. Then I'm going to put it together according to how it looks. I mean, that's how you do it with Legos, right??? |
